"Maybe there are spells that can help sleep better. Sooth the fears. Johannes? Know anything like that?" Senllip suggests. He then moves closer to the child and asks, "Want to see a true magic?" and he then shows a coin, makes it disappear and pulls it out of her ear. "Oh look! No wonder you didn't answer our questions. You couldn't hear us with THIS in your ear!" he smiles. He then makes the coins roll from his shoulder to the arm and jump over the elbow and to his hand. "Do you have any other trick you want me to do? Maybe with a special object? Or special people?" he asks, knowing she might ask something he would never be able to accomplish, such as bringing back someone she loved and died, but maybe just breaking her silence will be the start of recovery.

"I'm afraid not," Johannes says forlornly. "Jaeron?"

Jaeron "We're just trying to put more pieces of the puzzle together and hoping that we are wrong in a small way. If we could find out that would be most helpful."

Kalana and Jaeron (Temple of Octhanus) "Well, as I said, it makes perfect sense that the refugees would suffer from nightmares. If I'm understanding you correctly, you two had a nightmare last night, and so you believe this isn't a coincidence? Honestly, it seems a bit of a jump in logic, but as we have no other leads...very well, let's run with it," Saren says, scratching at his beard. "The first question to ask, I think, would be why you two? I, and my crew, have here in the city for weeks and have had no nightmares at all, but you two have had one after only one day. Also, did the rest of your group also suffer nightmares last night? If not, what do you two have in common with the refugees that the others, and my own crew, do not?"
Senllip, Johannas and Imrich (Refugee Camp) "Magic?" Flinn repeats, mystified. He seems to have no idea what Imrich means. "No, it's just an old trinket. It belonged to her mother, before she...passed. She believed it brought her luck, but...perhaps not. Now it's all we have left of her."
The girl jumps away when Senllip reaches for her ear, as if she feared he would attack, and then hides behind her father, clutching his jacket tightly. "I'm afraid it's no use," Flinn says. "As I said, she hasn't spoken a single word since...since the attack. Saren looked over her, and said there was nothing physically wrong with her. She's just...it's like the part of her mind that lets her speak just broke."

"Only Jaeron and I had the nightmares," Kalana says. "And I don't know what we have in common when it comes to these dreams, other than ot seems they were both traumatic times in our lives."

Jaeron ads "Yes it was just the two of us and it was not the same as say your entire city being destroyed by dragons and mages. But it was at least in my case me losing family and being abandoned to survive on my own in the middle of the sea."

"I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Did your wife perish in the attack on Tu'Valie?" Imrich asks Flinn.
I don't think Flinn's spoken about his wife, before, has he? Also, is there some roll Imrich could make to try and determine whether Flinn's surprise at the pendant being magical is genuine. A Wis check maybe?

Kalana and Jaeron (Temple of Octhanus)"Perhaps that could be the connection then," Saren reasons. "A traumatic event. It's certainly something every single one of the Tu'Valie refugees has in common." Senllip, Johannas and Imrich (Refugee Camp)"She did," Flinn says in a strained voice, as if trying to keep emotion out of it. "Right in front of us. It was...pretty gruesome."

(OOC: Flinn has dropped hints that his wife is gone, but hasn't directly spoken much about her. And yeah, a WIS check would work.)

"It makes sense that some would be more affected than others," Kalana says. "But why would it be the starting point of them dying?"

Jaeron "I don't wish to go down this path but what if there is someone or something causing the nightmares and perhaps they get worse to the point it basically scares people to death?"

When Senllip sees the girl reaction he immediately backs off and tries to sooth her. He flips the coin in the air and when it lands on his hand there are sweets there which he offers the child with a smile. "Don't be afraid. We will do what we can to help you."
=============================================== (OOC: Can we share ideas OOC even if we were not in the conversation of Saren with Kalana and Jaeron? Or only once the fill us in on the details?)

Kalana and Jaeron (Temple of Octhanus) "I am not certain, but I don't believe this would be a natural phenomenon," Saren says. "What's more, it's without precedent. We spent a great deal of time with the survivors of the Deimos attack, but nothing like this happened at any point. So clearly there must be some new element at work here."
Senllip, Johannas and Imrich (Refugee Camp) The girl stays where she is, half-hidden behind her father. She only silently points behind and above Senllip's shoulder. Should he or anyone else look in that direction, though, they don't see anything at all.

(OOC: Yeah, you guys can discuss things in the OOC thread if you want.)

Kalana crosses one arm over her chest and taps her lip with her index finger from her other hand. "Hmm," she says. "Well," she finally says, letting her arms drop. "We'll go back to our group, and see what they learned, if anything. Thank you," she says to Saren. She motions for Jaeron to follow her so they can head back to the camp.

"Senllip!" Imrich admonishes the halfling. "I know you're just trying to cheer her up, but do not promise to put things right that may be beyond our means. This poor girl has suffered enough."
When the girl suddenly points to the empty air above Senllip's shoulder, Imrich looks towards where she's pointing. Seeing nothing there, he again concentrates to detect magical radiation. "What is it girl? Is there something you would like us to do for you? Just nod or shake your head."
OOC: FYI, I'm assuming Imrich is still on his first casting of detect magic.
When Imrich was using detect magic on the pendant, was he able to determine the intensity of the magic and if a certain type of magic was present (alteration, conjuration, etc.)?
And because I'm forgetful. Has the girl's name been mentioned?

Jaeron "Thank you greatly Saren." the gnome says then turns and follows Kalana.
