"I'd take it off your hands for say...two hundred gold pieces," Winters offers. "We could use it to build a church and help further spread the word of Gonto."

Ladonna isn't sure if that is a good price for the land or not, but she isn't in any position to really argue either. "Two fifty, and I think we will have a deal," she says.

"Done," Winters says, perhaps a little too quickly. "I'll draw up the paperwork right away," she adds, hastily returning to her desk.

"Well, that takes care of things in the short term," Ladonna says to herself. "Now I need to think long term, which means I need to make a better name for myself here. It is probably best to stay away from the count and his wife for the time being." As she started thinking about it, she comes to the conclusion that the count's children would probably be the best place to start when it comes to raising her reputation.

"Is the count and his entire family not at their summer cottage at the moment?" Winters asks as she writes up paperwork.

"I was thinking about when they got back," Ladonna says. "In the meantime, I need to meet new people too," she admits.

"Well, if you can return in an hour or so, I should have the paperwork ready by then," Winters tells her.

Ladonna nods and takes her leave. She decides to go visit her father.

Ladonna tries the guesting house first, but finds Jonas is not there. Asking around, she eventually finds him at the barracks courtyard, training with some of the other guards. In the past few months, he's really gotten back into shape. Granted, he's still a little soft around the edges and has a ways to go before he's back to his peak physical condition before his life fell apart, but there has been improvement. He's certainly had plenty of free time to train, as the garrison commander has still not given him a job with the guard after the incident with the count.
Jonas spars with a couple of young guards a bit. While they are clearly stronger, healthier and in better shape than him, he still manages to defeat them with his experience. After the sparring ends, he moves to a chair and sits down to catch his breath. "Ah, Ladonna. There you are. I'm glad you are here; we have a lot to talk about to get the family name out of the muck."
(OOC: After months of training, Jonas now suffers a -1 to all rolls instead of -2.)

"I'm going to assume you have some ideas?" Ladonna asks. She leans against a nearby fence not too far from where her father is sitting. "I took care of our money problem, at least in the short term."

"Well, first things first," Jonas says. "We need to get you married. There's a young knight I heard about in search of a bride. Name's Relken. He's not the richest or most powerful man, but he's probably the best we can hope for with our family's current tarnished reputation." He stops short all of a sudden. "Wait, what do you mean you solved our money problems? How?"

"I said I solved our money problem in the short term," Ladonna says. "I sold my land to the church," she says. "Doing something like that should also help my reputation," she explains. "As for marriage...I think we can do better than a knight."

"We're pariahs, Ladonna. You'll be lucky if you can get a knight," Jonas replies. "Or maybe a wealthy merchant." He pauses a moment, then his eyes widen in panic. "Wait, you did what? Sold your land? Ladonna, that land is all the family still has now! What good even is a title if there's no land to go with it?"

"I didn't have much of a choice, father," Ladonna says. "Let me try to bring my reputation up before marrying me off. I know I can do better than a knight. I have connections I could possibly use."

"Land can make you more money, if it is managed well," Jonas says, rubbing at his temple. "I hope you at least got a good deal for it. Do you want to at least tell me what this plan is of yours? What connections do you still have after that...incident with the count?"
