"I agree with that much," Norris says. "Nothing we can do anyway at this hour, so we might as well return to the ranch until morning."

Ladonna nods her head to Norris in agreement. "Let's get going. The further away from this place, the better it will be." While she does seem calm, she gives off this vibe that she is extremely angry, and even a mixture of hurt.

Lillian nods and follows the party as they leave--though she takes the opportunity to ask Ladonna, "Are you all right? You seem angry."

Once the process to head back to the ranch had begun, Ladonna had been lost in her own thoughts as she tried to sort through her emotions, so when Lillian asks if she was alright, she just kind of looks at her with a dead expression on her face. ~Now someone is asking if I'm alright, but it is only because I'm angry,~ she thinks to herself. Within her dark headspace, the way that she was approached only because she was angry, suggested to her that she wasn't allowed to be angry. Of course, that thought only made her more angry, but she did her best to hide it at this point. "It's been a bad day," she finally says to Lillan. It was the truth, but it was a vague truth. There wasn't a point in going deeper than that.

"I see..." Lillian says, sensing that she's not helping. "Well, I hope that tomorrow will be better," she says, moving away a bit.

Eventually, the party returns to the ranch without further incident. Dolores has set up blankets on the living room floor to help accommodate so many guests when there is only one bedroom.

Lillian is sure to thank her before heading to bed.

Once Ladonna wakes up, and studies her spells for the day, she looks to the others. "I need to talk to Osbert, but I don't need all of you to come with me. Just get ready to head back to Hart."

"Very well, Ladonna," Lillian says as she sees her off. "Well, then. Any sort of assessment of our little trip?" she asks the party as she gets packed and ready to leave.

Ladonna Stepping outside, Ladonna finds another fresh layer of snow on everything. Trudging her way to Osbert's homestead, she finds him out front, shoveling some of the snow off the path to his doorstep, grumbling to himself.
Lillian "It would seem to be a failure on every count," Norris comments. "We did not complete a single goal we set out to accomplish."
"And we lost all of our weapons," Henna adds. "And aren't getting paid, so will have to buy new ones out of pocket."
"The wedding will have to be postponed or relocated, and soon word will get out that we have failed," Jonas mutters.
"And not a single person died," Unakite adds.
"Um, that's a good thing," Liala points out.
Unakite sighs. "But dreadfully boring."
Overall, everyone seems in a pretty dour mood.

"Good morning, Osbert," Ladonna says as she approaches the man. "We are leaving today, but I needed to have a talk with you before we left," she says.

"Oh, Ser Marche," Osbert says, pausing in his work. He sticks the shovel in the snow so it sticks upright, and seems pleased for the interruption. "Wait, you're leaving? Already? Begging your forgiveness for asking, my lady, but what of the food thieves, the cattle kidnappers and the haunted mansion?"

"Now, now, why should this be considered a failure? A mere positive spin may turn this expedition from an utter failure to a marginal success. For example, we have driven the Equalists from the land, have we not? And we've identified the threat within the manor."

"The Equalists escaped," Jonas points out. "They will be free to continue terrorizing the good and honest people of Tardiff. It's only a matter of time before they strike again. And we already knew the manor was haunted. Knowing the exact type of ghost doesn't really do any good that I can see."
Henna adds, "And there's no positive way to spin the financial situation. Do you know how hard it is to replace your weapon when you work as a mercenary, a job you need a weapon for?"

"...well, I suppose that's true," Lillian grumbles, sitting down and feeling very awful about everything.
"...sorry," she says after a bit. "It feels like its been one failure after another for Ladonna and I. I'm not used to it, I suppose."
