Giunona wakes up to the harsh sound of a hammer banging on nails. Sitting up, she finds she was sleeping on one of the pews. It wasn't terribly comfortable, and her back and neck ache a bit. It takes a few moments to remember what happened. After the attack, she did what she could to help anyone hurt. Then at some point, the exhaustion caught up with her, and she passed out.
All around her, the locals are busy. Some are fixing the damage to the temple, while others are rebuilding or reinforcing barricades. The hammering is from someone boarding up all of the windows. Already, they are preparing for tonight.
A few farmers pass by talking as they work, and she overhears that apparently the zombies all returned to their graves in the cemetery, and have been completely quiet since then. Nobody seems to feel they'll stay there for long, though.
Many of the people who were here last night are gone. Likely helping out elsewhere, or checking for damages/searching for wounded and dead. The only familiar face she sees is that of Brother Montrel, who is offering guidance to the farmers on where to focus their efforts in reinforcing the temple.

It is Mirtul 24th, noon. Giunona is back to full health and vigor, and may change out her prepared spells for the day.

Giunona ScarletbarkHP: 33/33 - AC: 18 - CD: 1/1 - Inspiration: Yes As she waits for Brother Montrel to finish his talk with the farmers, Giunona prays to Marthammor to offer his divine assistance to her. If that day was even a tenth of the intensity of the previous night, she would have really needed it. When the other priest was eventually not engaged in conversations, Giunona walks up to him: " Good day, Brother! Sorry I feel asleep last night, those things really gave me a sound trashing. But at least I'm content in knowing it wasn't that one-sided... Any idea on who this Nedrezar is or on someone who could know something about this whole ordeal? From my understanding this was the first time something like that happened, correct?" OOC This title...

"No need to apologize, we are all quite exhausted after last night's ordeal," Montrel says. "I'm glad to see you are alright. As for answers, I cannot say for sure. Never heard the name before, and yes, nothing like this has happened before. Something must have triggered it. I wonder..." He pauses in thought, scratching at his chin for a moment. "A group of adventurers passed through here not long ago, and were poking around at the old ruins. Most people here don’t know it, but that place has an evil history. About 200 years ago, it was a powerful evil temple that was destroyed by the King's men. The ruins seemed harmless enough, but I suppose that maybe Giles and his friends disturbed something that should have been left alone. In any case, you are free to peruse my library, if you wish. There may be some reference there that could prove useful."

But let me know if you need my help with something, I'll gladly lend you a hand while I am here." If the older priest has no assignments for her, she'll go the library. Just before walking away, she turns one last time toward Montel: " Do you think those travelers held any ill intent?" -

"I'm not certain," Montrel admits. "I only encountered them briefly, when they came in for some magical healing. They seemed nice enough, but one never knows. Even if they meant well, adventurers have a bad habit of meddling with things they shouldn't."

Montrel's library in the temple is small but quite extensive. There are numerous books, scrolls and papers to go through. This could take awhile.

It takes a good five hours of research, but Giunona finds what she is looking for. She learns that the town is older than most of its residents believe it to be. Centuries ago, Pommeville was the site of a temple dedicated to the evil god, Myrkul. The high priest of the temple was a powerful and evil cleric named Nedrezar. His servants controlled much of the surrounding area. Nedrezar aspired to lichdom, seeking to extend his power beyond the grave. During the process of transformation, he was betrayed by a lieutenant who wanted the high priest’s power for himself. Nedrezar’s soul was trapped in a some kind of magical device, and his body was entombed.
Nedrezar fell short of transformation and did not become a lich. The factions of the evil temple fell into a power struggle that weakened them all. A few years later, the forces of a nearby good kingdom attacked the evil temple and destroyed it. The force was accompanied by Bishop Astara Trueheart, who discovered Nedrezar’s hidden crypt.
Astara knew that some evil slumbered within, and he prevented the king’s men from touching anything within. He also consecrated the site and set a holy seal upon the crypt door to contain the evil within.
As the years passed, the town of Pommeville grew up on the site of the old ruins.

Giunona ScarletbarkHP: 33/33 - AC: 18 - CD: 1/1 - Inspiration: Yes Rummaging through that mole of books was almost exhausting as fighting against those zombies, but Giunona was satisfied when she finally got to the bottom of it. She gets back to the temple to see if Montrel's still around, and also to check how the fortification are coming along. When (and if) she eventually manages to find the older priest, she approaches him and reports to him what she has found. When she's done she asks: " And that's all. I'm planning on getting an investigation team together and go check those ruins to see if we can find what's wrong with the crypt. But first... Does the name Astara Trueheart rings any bell to you?"

"No, I'm afraid not. He was never a resident of this town, so if he has any descendants, they would not live here," Montrel says.

"Quite well," Montrel answers. "We're fortifying not only the temple, but the mayor's house and the lord's manor, as well. If those things come back, they won't catch us with our proverbial pants down this time. We'll be ready for them."

And speaking about the Mayor, can you give me directions to her house? I figure it's worth sharing what I found with her too."

"Oh, certainly," says Montrel. "It's the big house up on the hill to the east. In fact, just take Hill Road and it will lead you right up there."
