"I volunteered us," Ladonna says. "But it seems you aren't fond of him. How did things go the last time he was here?" she asks curiously.

"Oh, he was awful," Hazel explains. "He kept flaunting his alien values, and the fact that he was some kind of noble over there, and having the audacity to criticize our way of life."

"He isn't quite use to small towns," Ladonna says. "But all the same, he is a guest of the Count's," she points out. "He said that the council wasn't willing to help him too much in his mission to find out what happened to his merchant. What did he ask of the council?"

"Mostly he just asks about suspicious persons or activity," Shanson answers. "He seems to think the Everfull bastard is responsible, and asks about him a lot. If we knew where he was hiding, we'd tell him. Let the two half-breeds fight it out, I say. But nobody's seen him in months now."

"What made him think they were unwilling?" Lillian wonders. "Just their demeanor, or did he believe they were hiding something?"

"As a council member myself, I can assure you we did our best to comply with his ridiculous questions," Hazel says. "He just refuses to see any reason."

"Oh, about what we know about this missing merchant of his," Hazel answers. "Honestly, I don't even remember him. It was years ago. I don't know why they're bothering us all with this nonsense now. If he's dead, he was probably just killed by a bandit or a monster."

"Wait," Ladonna says. "This merchant died years ago?" she asked. "I was under the impression that this happened fairly recently."

"Yes, exactly! Can you believe it?" Hazel asks. "Apparently, it happened over a year before you even left! How is anyone supposed to remember what happened to some foreign merchant--who was probably a spy, if you ask me, you know how Calabrians are--that passed through town years ago?"

Lillian frowns. "I didn't know Jherek intimately, but I don't think he was a member of the Wyld Boys until after we left for Hart. Amodeo's chasing the wrong man."

"Well, if you can help him find the right man and go home, we'll all be pretty grateful here in Buho," Shanson says.

"No, Jherek was a member of the Wyld Boys before we left for Hart," Ladonna says. "His goal is to find Jherek at this point, and only Jherek. He didn't have any connection with the Calabrians, did he?"

Shanson and Hazel both shrugs. "Never really spoke to the lad," the former says.
