Welcome Horizons!
Also, I am back, sort of! Blasted my back last week, and was, basically, bed ridden over the weekend up until yesterday. My chiropractor took care of me, couple more sessions next week and I should be good to go. Of course this last weekend was when we got hammered by snow, so I had to get my son to cover for me on drive way duty so his mother didn't have to blow out her back too! All, in all, good times!
Trying to catch up on posting, didn't take much time to introduce myself, simply because Dietrich was involved in a pretty heavy moment, I didn't want to leave hanging. Yes, the paladin executed the prisoner, but without malice or anger, as part of his duty.

Deitrich is moving along with the group, he's just talking to Sir Gaardsen, figures he'd be able to give him a read on the slave thing, without Deitrich bumbling into cultural barriers he has no idea exist. Heh.

Daos Do we know (or can I roll something to see if Torquato knows) how Sivak shapeshifting ability works? In particular what I'd like to know is: when they take the form of another creature, do they get their memories, etc.?

At this point in time, the existence of Sivaks and how they work are not common knowledge. Those who fought in the war likely only faced Baaz, Bozaks and Kapaks (which made up the bulk of the draconian forces), as Sivaks and Auraks are pretty rare, and those Sivaks who did serve in the war did so under cover. Draconians in general are a pretty new race, having only first been created a few years ago, so not a whole lot is known about them in general.
So my question would be, how does Torquato know about Sivaks? Rumors and hearsay? Did he actually face one during the war at some point? Once I know that, I can try and speculate on how much he may or may not know about how their shapechanging works.

If they're that rare, maybe I can add a bit to Gordon's backstory, about how his commander was revealed to be a Sivak spy. That would explains why he knows about them--and why he goes around accusing everyone of being them.

That works. Any thoughts on how that went down? Like, how the spy was discovered?

Hmm, I didn't realize they were that rare. I think the most plausible answer would be that whatever information he has on them would come from his experience in the war.
I wouldn't think he'd faced them directly, but probably 'hearsay' from other members of House Protector or the Windriders, like some sort of intelligence on those rare enemies that could infiltrate your own ranks? Don't know if this could work.

I think one of the commander's friends, another officer fighting Takhisis' army, came down to coordinate strategy (or...whatever military officers do) and noticed something was up. So he started quizzing him on personal details, battles from very early in the war--and he failed. Then the unit found the commander missing and the friend standing over his own corpse with a weapon, and were so confused they just arrested him. But when the Sivak's body turned back, and some higher-ups sent them a letter briefly explaining the Sivaks, he was released.

Don't know if this could work. In that case, I'd say an INT check would work, with a decently high DC since it's just rumor and hearsay. I think one of the commander's friends, another officer fighting Takhisis' army, came down to coordinate strategy (or...whatever military officers do) and noticed something was up. So he started quizzing him on personal details, battles from very early in the war--and he failed. But when the Sivak's body turned back, and some higher-ups sent them a letter briefly explaining the Sivaks, he was released. Sivak bodies do not turn back, but after three days they do disintegrate into ash. Other than that, it works. So Gordon is actually pretty knowledgeable about Sivaks over most folk. He knows that they can shapechange into someone they kill, but he also knows they do not acquire memories from their target. He knows that upon death, they transform into a copy of whoever killed them, and three days later turn to ash. Ironically, then, he has no idea what a Sivak in original form looks like.

Yeah, I'd say he has no idea if a sivak acquires memories of his victims or not.
