Daos, any problem w/ Abelaard purchasing a mule before leaving on his journey?

No problem. The party is going to have an opportunity in-game to buy any last minute supplies before heading off, so no worries there.

In regards to Elias' inquiry is Dietrich aware of any recent events or local rumors? He likely hasn't spent much time in the area, but he was raised around Vingaard.

at none of us managing to slip under "encumbered" status -- right on Kvard51 about that mule!
@daos, scanning over the statblock as we get going I realized I meant to swap the shortbow for a light crossbow (ditto arrows/bolts). This is equivalent gp cost but 4lbs heavier. The crossbow feels more in keeping with my conception of Rof as a light skirmisher rather than particularly dedicated to the bow.
Zero Prime, any objections to Rof recognizing Dietrich from the sacking of Vingaard? I'm imagining that they didn't closely interact but Rof remembers him and Gaardsen returning with a group of refugees.

That's absolutely in line with the Folk Hero theme, so that works. At the office right now, or I'd have a post up.

Well, he knows there will be a Spring Dawning festival in a couple of weeks. Sure, that's doable.

Quick clarification, and let me know if there is other Solamnic traditions or honorifics to follow, but I see Sir & ser as having two different meanins. Sir relates to the title of Knighthood, while ser, is more like a polite, Mister, so calling Rof, good ser Rof, is like me saying Mr. Rof, and just being polite.

Only 3 or 4 days? I guess the most I looked at didn't have a scale, I just assumed it was more than a 100 miles.
Should be good then, though with all of us being encumbered ... we only cover 16 miles a day.

Yeah, the map I posted didn't have a scale on it, but from past experience, I can tell you Ansalon is remarkably small. Maybe 1300 miles across, west coast to east coast. I'd say the journey from Vingaard to Throtl would be, roughly, around 100 miles.
So investing in a mule isn't a bad idea, if you want to speed things up (even at 16 miles a day, that's still less than a week). If someone doesn't want to spend that much coin, perhaps the entire party can chip in for it. That should make the cost more manageable.

Torquato would partecipate, in case the group decide to buy the mule.

8 gold, errr, steel for the mule. 5 steel for the pack saddle, 2 steel for bit & bridle, 4 steel for sadde bags.
So 19 steel split three ways, 6 each, and Dietrich will pitch in the extra steel.

The saddle bags are probably overkill if you already have a pack saddle. The pack saddle alone should be more than enough to carry everyone's excess gear (if it's not, you need a second mule), so that should save you some coin.
