Daos:
Valerie thanks Daos, and Qurrak smashes the skeletons as ordered. The party travels for another hour, under the cover of darkness, before setting up camp again. Everyone sleeps restlessly, but thankfully, nothing else attacks in the night.
In the morning, they set off again, reaching the town of Writing within a few hours. As they step into the town square, a Paladin of Elshodi's Chosen stops them.
"Hold, there," he says. "What are you doing with those prisoners?" He speaks without accusation, and his tone is gentle, perhaps even friendly.
Caelynn:
The group that just entered Writing's town square match Miss Serpentine's description perfectly. "A Half-Elven mage, a Human warrior, a Minotaur, ideally with the two nobles in shackles, and perhaps a stray or two. He seems the sort."
The mage, a Half-Elf like her, has shoulder-length blonde hair and wears red and blue robes. The warrior is a woman with short, nut-brown hair, who looks familiar to Caelynn--though she can't say why. The Minotaur carries two shields, and looks shy and embarrassed, while the "stray" is a bow-wielding Human in light armor. She wears a bright scarlet cloak and a hat to match.
Chained together are two Humans wearing expensive clothing, though dirty and tattered from days of travel. One is a nervous-looking man with a garish, ridiculous hairstyle, and the other is a plain woman with a calm expression. The group is speaking to one of Elshodi's Chosen, the local order of Paladins.

"These two are wanted for treason against the crown," Daos explains. "By order of the king, we are returning them to the capitol to face justice."

The paladin bows and says, "I see. In that case, I bid you Elshodi light your path." He leaves to continue his patrol.

"One moment. Have any of the Chosen gone missing recently?" Daos asks. "Or perhaps, your grave-sites been disturbed? We ran afoul of a necromancer on the way here, and two of the zombies he had with him were dressed as Chosen. I can give you directions to where they now lie if you wish to retrieve them. The necromancer himself is...neutralized."

The Chosen looks shocked by Daos' words, then answers, "Yes, in fact. Two skeletons were taken from the graveyard, and we heard reports of them walking in the surrounding area. We sent two of our Paladins to hunt them down, but it seems the necromancer got the better of them..." He shakes his head sadly. "Telling me where they lie will be much appreciated. The bodies of those Paladins should be lain to rest, along with the other victims."

Daos nods, and gives directions to their former campsite where the bodies still lie.

Caelynn felt like she had been waiting forever for Daos and his group to arrive in Writing. Selene hadn't given her much information about what was going on other than the fact that Countess Cryfold was being escorted to the capital to be executed for treason. It seemed as if Selene wanted to make sure that Cryfold made it to the capital without any problems, and that she didn't fully trust the group escorting Cryfold to get the job done. It was up to Caelynn on how to join the group. Thankfully, after eavesdropping on the conversation between Daos and one of Elshodi's Chosen, she was given a chance to join the group without announcing the fact that she worked for Selene.
"It seems you had some troubles on your way here," Caelynn says as she approaches the group. She pushes a bit of her shoulder length brown hair back behind her slightly pointed ear, and smiles lightly. "Perhaps you need a little more help in transporting these dangerous criminals?" she asks with a small twinkle in her blue eyes. While Caelynn walked and talked with confidence, there wasn't really anything all that intimidating about her. She is a rather tiny woman, and she appears to be around twenty years old.

Daos looks the woman over suspiciously. "We are fine, thank you," he says, having no idea who she is or what she wanted. "If you're looking for work, try Deppsburg. It's undergoing some renovations, and I'm sure there will be plenty of jobs to go around."

~Ah, he is a suspicious one,~ Caelynn thinks to herself. She wasn't given much information on this group before she was left, so she was unfortunately stuck with figuring it out on her own. She had originally wanted to keep her ties to Selene quiet, but now she was thinking that it was probably a better idea to let him know who she was sent by. "While I appreciate you trying to help me find work, I'm afraid I already have a job," Caelynn says. "And that is to help you. My name is Caelynn, and I was sent by Miss Selene Serpentine. I believe you have made her acquaintance?"

Daos had thought the woman some kind of con-artist or opportunist, but upon hearing Serpentine's name, he looks her over again as if trying to reassess his judgment of her. "You know Serpentine?" He turns to his warrior companion. "Meine, have you ever seen this woman before?"

Meine gives Caelynn a once-over and cautiously nods. "Yeah...yeah, I think I've seen her around. She's one of Serpentine's goons, all right," she says. Directly to Caelynn, she says, "What, Selena didn't trust us to get the job done?" She says the name with a bitter sarcasm.

Meine's confirmation seems to relax Daos a bit. Not that he suddenly trusted this woman, but he at least wasn't worried she was trying to con or attack them. "If it was Serpentine's intent to send us help, she could have done so before the job was basically already done," he comments.

"Goon?" Caelynn asks with a small pout. "Such a vulgar term as if I was just some common thief," she says with a shake of her head. "Though, I wouldn't say that she doesn't trust all of you with the task of escorting these prisoners. It is more likely than she doesn't trust the prisoners." She shrugs at Meine, and looks back to Daos. "I couldn't begin to explain to you as to why she sent me late to help you, but better late than never. After all, you aren't in the capital yet."

"Alright, and what manner of help can you provide anyway?" Daos asks her.

"Well, for the moment, I'm probably going to end up acting as your scout," Caelynn says. She was also good at gathering information, and working undercover, but that didn't need to be mentioned right now.
