CH. 10 - Chasing the Lleiset

[Daos]

"Well, it's a bit of a story," Thom begins.  "Err, mind if I sit?  These old legs aren't what they used to be."  He takes a seat at their table.  "After you and Esme left Narin, well, there was a lot of chaos at home.  But eventually things settled down and more or less went back to normal.  Despite that, I couldn't really get back into the swing of things.  Nothing really felt 'normal' anymore.  I think I found I was inspired by you; by your courage to break away and live the life you wanted to live.  So I did the same.  Packed up my stuff and left the family, sailing for Serenity.  I wasn't really sure what to do, though.  All I've ever known is gunsmithing.  So I decided to do the least dwarven thing I could think of--learn magic.  Of course, which kind?  Arcane?  Divine?  I decided, why not both?  So I've spent the last couple of decades bouncing between the Temple of Mercy here in Serenity and the Storm Sorcerer Academy over on Ketos.  And well, when I heard 'Captain Firehand' was searching for a crew for a suicide mission, I knew I had to check up on you and make sure you come out alive.  Wouldn't do not to use my newfound abilities to help my favorite nephew, after all."

"So, you are a mage and a cleric?" Kalana asks.

[Bishgada]

"Hey Thom." Senlip says and offers a handshake, "I hope you don't mind drinking with us, like some other very nice and important people..." he makes a face at his little sister. "Nice to meet Brax family." returning to his sister he says, "I don't recall they wouldn't let you see your child again. Just let them raise the child on the island with them. I do plan to go visit." he says insulted.

[Daos]

"That's right, young lady," Thom says to Kalana.  "I may not be as skilled or powerful had I stuck to just one or the other, but I do know a little of both."

"If you say so," Cassie says to Senllip skeptically.  "I'm just going off what I've heard about them."

[HorizonsDream]

"Ah, I would be, I guess, the Admiral of the three ships," Kalana says to Thom. "I'm Kalana," she then looks to Cassie and Senllip. "If I remember correctly, we aren't allowed to see the children either. That was the deal."

[Daos]

"Thom Firehand, at your service," Thom says, extending his hand to Kalana.  "Nice to meet you, Admiral."

[HorizonsDream]

"You too," Kalana says. "But are you sure you want to join this mission?" she asks. "I lack a full plan other than to upgrade our ships at the moment. Taking on a dozen Gunn ships is not an easy task."

Brax motions to his uncle to sit. After letting the other two chat with his uncle for a moment he then chimes in "Eh well yeah ya know me uncle. Headstrong at times it's in our nature I suspect. Suicidal missions be me specialty apparently." having heard about chaos back home he does ask "What kinda chaos back home? Everyone still livin? Even if they ain't willin ta open their minds fer a fella lovin someone that ain't a dwarf that is. I still give a damn bout em. Even though me reason fer leavin is long dead. Me wife lost ta some damned fool ridin a dragon spreadin chaos in tha lands."

[Daos]

"If Brax is going, I'm sure," Thom answers Kalana.

To Brax, he says, "Last I heard, the family is doing well.  Your brother is in the process of taking over the family business, so your father can retire."

[HorizonsDream]

"People are wanting to protect their own, I guess," Kalana says. Though, that is technically what she is trying to do herself. "I know you two want to catch up with your family members, but your ships need to be upgraded as well," she points out. "So don't forget to do that. If you get it done today, we should be able to leave tomorrow."

[Bishgada]

"Well, I remember them to be very nice people, so don't always assume the worst of people or believe everything you hear. And in any case, if they won't let me see my child, you can sneak in instead of me and see how he fairs." Senllip grins, but it might be appeared that he is a bit worried. He did think of his child pretty often, and indeed planned to visit him in future, tell him about the marvels he experienced and teach him a thing or two... Will the child be better off without him? Are these children are indeed a cult? They came back then and saved them from the slavers attacks. Helped attend to the wounded. 
Confused with history, delight to see his sister and possible sorrow of missing his child, Senllip can't think of anything other than raising his glass and cheer, "To family, friends and victory!" he gestures to those who are willing to drink, and hugs his sister shoulder with his unoccupied hand while downing the mug.

Brax nods his head and half smiles "Glad they're well, an good that me dad can retire. If yer willin' I'm more n' happy ta have ya on me ship uncle."  after a moment he adds "But yah might need ta get used ta rum, then again we are ere recruitin and gatherin supplies maybe we can find some good dwarf spirits in a cask er two just fer us."

[Daos]

Senllip realizes that, at least for now, it's a rather moot point.  The child was only conceived three months ago, so the mother hasn't given birth yet.  Therefore, there is no child to visit yet anyway.

"Grand idea, lad," says Thom to Brax.  "Maybe we can get you outfitted with a better gun, too.  I see you still have those pea-shooters on your belt."

[Bishgada]

"So, let's finish with the upgrades, food and water supplies and head to our next station. Where do you believe we can recruit more help to our cause Kalana?"

"There are a few mercenaries that I know that we can try to recruit to help," Kalana says. "But no more ships."
