CH. 10 - Chasing the Lleiset

"Wit a sec. I have few questions..." Senllip quickly adds. "Do you have any information about the Son of Crizza? Anmd does he play part with these soulbiters? I bet since he is such show off, if one could get his attention and hint that the soulbiters are mightier than him, they may turn against each other and make our work easier." Senllip is still fascinated with the Son of Crizza and the great powers he possess. "Second, have you fought dragons before? Any suggestion how to protect a wooden ship from them? You said acid, not fire right? But acid eats wood easily as well... We need some preparations. Maybe there is a way to trap dragons? or location where they won't have advantage of maneuverability? Caves maybe?"

"The Son of Crizza?  He's the one behind the attack on Tu'Valie, isn't he?" Tiaru asks.  "I don't know anything about him or where he is, otherwise I'd be hunting him down as we speak.  As far as I know, though, he has nothing to do with the Soulbiters.  In any case, I'd have no idea how to get his attention."

"I have faced them before, yes.  They are quite dangerous," Tiaru agrees.  "And fighting a dragon in an enclosed area is just as dangerous, if not more so, than out in the open.  You and your men would make easy targets for its breath weapon if you are in a confined space, all close to each other.  But how would you even get them into a confined space in the first place?"

"I don't know. I thought if we provoke them and then enter confined place they will follow. But you are right, in a confined place we will be like sitting ducks. The problem in the opens is that they can fly around the ship and easily change direction while we have no chance in pursue or retreat. How did you met them in previous times, heads on? Brutal force? Does normal weapon, our crossbows, harm them?" Senllip asks, hoping to come up with a solution that will give them some advantage.

"Normal crossbows should work fine against the younger ones," Tiaru answers.  "But if you have ballistae or cannons, those are even better.  And watch out if they should submerge.  They've been known to try and scuttle a ship from beneath if they are desperate.  They'll probably avoid using their breath attacks, at least at first, out of fear of harming any treasure the ships might be carrying."

"Senllip, we should probably leave the bigger ones to the Lleiset," Kalana says. "We can deal with the younger ones just fine."

[Bishgada]

"I tend to agree, still some planning and preparation is always good. For instance, with what Tiaru just mentioned, if we can create the impression that we have a lot of treasure they will try to avoid their breath weapon." He looks back at Tiaru, "So, when do you plan to attack? And is it possible to capture a dragon alive? And where can we recruit a healer and supplies?"

Brax having already departed to his ship has no idea what is going on and wonders what is the hold up simply by raising both hands in the air from his ship while in sight of Sen and Kalana.

[Daos]

"The plan is already underway," Tiaru answers.  "It's why we were sitting out here, in the open.  We're baiting the dragons to us.  With the addition of your ships, including those cargo ships, the bait will be even more tempting.  I imagine they'll be here soon.  Capture one alive?  I suppose it's possible, but I'm not sure what it would accomplish.  As far as healers or supplies go, you'll probably need to sail to another island.  Octhanus Island has no port towns, and the people aren't terribly friendly toward strangers."

[Bishgada]

"Errr... OK then. Going to set a bait position." Senllip says.

(OOC: If any of the ships doesn't have enough ammo for the crossbows Senllip will ask to divide resources between them. Same with manpower.

Lastly, deal with magic and healing help: 1. Magic - Bayla can fly between ships and give support. Let's agree before the battle that that's what she expect to do. 2. Healing: If we want to "share" the healer, the ships need to be close and the healer should have mobility. To be close to each other is a disadvantage in battle tactics I think, so if we can't share the healer during battle, if there are any other means of preventing too much death, like healing potions and mundane herbs I would like to share these resources as well.

"Everyone get to your ships, and into position," Kalana orders.

Brax like wise sees what the other ships are doing and orders his crew to do the same.

[Daos]

"Good luck to you all," Tiaru says.  "We'll take the lead, you can follow and take whatever positions you feel are best."  She then departs to her own ship.  After a few minutes, the Lleiset begins to move away.

(OOC:  What positions are the ships taking?  And how far away are they going to be spaced from each other?)

OOC: I think the Blue Moon would probably be on the right side of the Lleiset, and maybe have the cargo ships behind them on either side?

(OOC:  Sounds good, but how far apart do you want them all spaced?)

OOC: I'm not really sure. I think maybe they should be somewhat close together?
