The following contains information learned about places the party has been to and people they have met, for easy reference in case players forget things later on.
Salt Whale
Salt Whale is a nation that's largely coastal, along the Quilsha Sound. It is composed of three habitats, Si'ahl, Belar and Raena. Si'ahl contains the gardens of Si'ahl (capitol), Amatil and Regna, as well as the Nyik Grove. It is also home to Quil's Place market and Big Lenan, a statue from the old world that often inspires poets and artists. Belar contains the garden of Bar'eyllis and the grove of Evar. Raena holds the gardens of Reisel and Sumrae, and the Aelasel Grove.
Government: Salt Whale is a theocratic monarchy. The man who rules the land is a direct descendant of the great hero who united Cascadia originally--her great-great grandson, in fact. His name is Supervisor Crane Freeland, and he's an older man, in the twilight of life, who never married or had children. Thus, his younger sister is his heir at the moment. Rumor is he never married because he isn't interested in women. However, under Cascadian custom, he could adopt an heir if he wished, but for whatever reason never has. He's a good ruler and has helped enrich his lands and made them prosperous, although he himself always spends money whenever he gets it; so ironically, he's not very wealthy himself. His vassals all like him, surprisingly even his druids, despite the fact that he's not very religious himself.
The main protection his land has is he pays regular tribute to the Riverdom. This keeps them from invading (for now), but also ensures they will swoop in if someone else tries to invade.
Ecology: The nation is largely forested terrain, but also wilderness. Most of the civilization rests along the Quilsha Sound. Winters are mild.
History: Prior to the Cascadian empire, the land was ruled by Supervisor Napur, a Kanatan warrior, who formed it in the year 540. When the great hero, Aquaria Freewaters, arrived in 547, Napur refused to bend the knee, and so the two fought in a duel. Aquaria won, and Napur was killed. Thus, did Aquaria seize control of the biome. She passed the land to her daughter, River in 561 upon his death. She, in turn, passed it on to her daughter, Raine, in 577. Finally, it was inherited by the current supervisor, Crane, in 628.
Culture: The people are mostly Cascadian, and that is the primary language spoken.
Religion: Elonnarism is the primary faith.
Trade: Salt Whale has a massive and booming trade industry, thanks to the many ships that come into the Quilsha Sound. Quil's Place market bazaar is said to be the largest in the land, and supposedly dates back to before the Awakening. All this wealth makes them a prime target for raiders, however.
Garden of Si'ahl
The capitol city of Salt Whale, as well as the capital of the habitat of the same name, Si'ahl is a massive garden of culture, trade and progress. Although an Elonnori garden, it is considered largely secular by many. The church has little influence, and many of the more zealous Elonnori consider Si'ahl to be a den of sin and corruption. Even the garden's name, Si'ahl, is derived from the Ancient One name for this region, which some view as a sign of the garden's brazen worldly values. Not to mention that men are allowed to rule equally with women. While some would speak as if the streets were paved with gold and the buildings of stone and chopped down trees, in truth, Si'ahl isn't terribly different from most gardens. The people are more progressive and open-minded, and are less hostile toward foreigners, but beyond that, it's still an Elonnori garden at its core.
Si'ahl has several districts, including the Marketplace, the Harbor, the Art District and the Noble District. While the garden has a thriving economy from the many trading vessels that come and go in the harbor, the garden also has a serious housing problem. There are many homeless folks who sleep on the streets, unable to afford basic amenities.
The general population is obsessed with coffee and have regular 'coffee festivals' throughout the year. There are also a lot of experimental musicians and artists, as ships from far away sometimes bring their own music and art with them.
Places of Si'ahl
----Quil Place (Marketplace) - A bustling market near the docks where just about anything you can think of is bought or sold. It's also known for its many restaurants.
--------The Orca's Tail Inn - One of many inns in the garden, although this one is fairly popular with adventuring types as it's modest and private. It's run by a half-orc woman.
--------The Siren's Song - One of the most popular cafes in the garden, and a favored gathering place for travelers and adventurers to swap tales, look for work, and just rest after a long day.
--------The Sailor's Way - A general store that is often visited by adventuring types, as they often sell tools and items useful on the open road (like rope, rations, etc.). It's run by a drow man.
--------Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs - A more upper-scale restaurant for higher classed clientele.
--------Quil Place Chowder - A popular restaurant with a specialty in chowder but serves other things, too. Many of its employees also live on the second floor, renting out rooms from the owner.
----Si'ahl Harbor - The Si'ahl Harbor welcomes hundreds a ships of day from all up and down the coastline. This is also home to the Si'ahl navy.
----Si'ahl Eastern Gate - The garden of Si'ahl has three gates, to the South, West and East (and the harbor to the north). The east gate leads to the open road which, if followed, eventually cuts through the Cascade Mountains and into the Riverdom. It is well guarded by the garden guard.
----Noble District - In the heart of the garden lies the noble district. This is where the supervisor's home can be found, as well as where most nobles and the wealthy dwell.
--------Coral Palace - The coral palace, a beautiful palace made of pink coral. It's where the supervisor lives and works, and where his council gathers for official meetings. There are a number of guest rooms for emissaries, ambassadors and special guests, as well. It's one of the most guarded places in the garden.
----Art District - The art district is home to a number of artists, poets, writers and musicians. It's also filled with homeless. One of the lower class districts.
--------Stone Troll - An ancient piece of statuary built by the Ancient Ones. It resembles a giant troll. It's found under an old bridge. Many homeless folk sleep near it, forming something of a small tent town.
--------Local Tide - A cheap seafood restaurant with outdoor tables.
People of Si'ahl
Acebar (Black Dragonborn, He/Him) - Acebar is one of the baristas at the local Sailor's Way. He seems bitter and resentful toward most folk, especially customers. The only person he doesn't seem to mind is Kalinda.
Blitz (Osprey Aarakocra, He/Him) - Blitz is one of the local garden guard. Although perhaps a bit awkward and overly patriotic, he means well and seems to genuinely care about the people he is sworn to protect. He assisted the party during the Ravenite raid during the summer coffee festival. He has a son.
Crane Freewaters (Human, He/Him) - Crane is the current Supervisor of Si'ahl Garden, and a direct descent of the legendary Aquaria Freewaters. He is an elderly man with no spouse, although he recently adopted an heir. He'd probably rather party than rule, but he feels a deep responsibility to keep Salt Whale running peacefully. However, he has difficulty making decisions, often relying on his bickering council instead. After the party rescued him during the Ravenite raid during the summer coffee festival, he hired them as his personal agents to help rebuild the Cascadian Empire.
Dusksun (Aasimar, He/Him) - Dusksun is the elected Gardener of Amatil, as well as Crane's Second-Hand (military expert). He believes that to reunite Cascadia, it must be done by the sword, the way Aquaria did. However, he has had difficulty convincing the other council members of this, thanks in large part to Elonna's teachings of pacifism.
Gurt (Half-Orc, He/Him) - Gurt is a strange and elusive musician who plays with some kind of magical lute. He is working on developing a new genre of music called 'muck.' He assisted the party during the Ravenite raid during the summer coffee festival. He assisted them again on their first mission to Long Beach.
Marine (Goldfinch Aarakocra, He/Him) - Marine is the Gardener of Sumrae, as well as Crane's Steward (financial expert). He believes that to reunite Cascadia, they need to boost their economy and bring in more shards into their mostly depleted coffers. However, he has had difficulty convincing the other council members of this, as most see finances as fairly boring and uninteresting.
Mara Freewaters (Human, She/Her) - Mara is the adopted daughter of Crane, and his sole heir. She is less than a year old, only a baby still. The party picked her up in Long Beach, as she had no family after they had been slain in a Ravenite raid.
Mist (Tiefling, She/Her) - Mist is a waitress at the Quil Place Chowder restaurant. She is also one of Kalinda's roommates and friends. She seems something of a conspiracy nut, assigning blame to anything that goes wrong to Inlanders, and the Riverdom specifically.
Mizzle (Water Genasi, She/Her) - Mizzle is a stranger in a strange land. She came from an island to the west due to a prophetic vision she had. Her people are Kamyllists, which is a heretical version of Elonnorism. She assisted the party during the Ravenite raid during the summer coffee festival.
Olivia (Mountain Dwarf, She/Her) - Olivia is the Archdruid of Evar Grove, as well as Crane's Head Druid (religious expert). She believes that to reunite Cascadia, they must wage a holy war against the Ravenites, as the best way to unite a people is give them a common enemy. However, she has had difficulty in convincing the other council members of this, as they believe such a war cannot be won at this point in time.
Pike (Half-Elf, He/Him) - Pike is the Gardener of Regna, as well as Crane's Spymaster (information expert). He believes that to reunite Cascadia, they must work in the shadows, relying on intrigue, seduction and assassination. However, he has had difficulty convincing the other council members of this, as they see such acts as crude and dishonorable. Also, he's the newest council member and not taken very seriously as a result.
Pisces (Half-Elf, He/Him) - Pisces is Captain of the Tideway, a passenger and cargo ship that often sails up and down the coastline along Elonnori lands. He is part sea-elf, so has a blue tint to his skin, and often wears a duster jacket and a tri-corner hat.
Rain (Crow Aarakocra, She/Her) - Rain is one of the waitresses at the Quil Place Chowder restaurant. She is also one of Kalinda's roommates and friends. She is a bit more aloof and reclusive.
Saltyx Freewaters (Human, She/Her) - Saltyx is Crane's niece, as well as his Chancellor (diplomacy expert). She believes that to reunite Cascadia, they must first stabilize Salt Whale. And to do that, her uncle needs a spouse. However, her uncle has been rather stubborn about the issue, and the other council members don't see it as a priority. She also believes they should seek to make peace with the Ravenites, instead of warring with them.
Selene (Wood Elf, She/Her) - Selene is the owner of the Quil Place Chowder restaurant. She's something of a savvy businesswoman, or so she believes. She is Kalinda's boss and landlord.
Starbuck (Stout Halfling, She/Her) - Starbuck seems obsessed with coffee. She believes it has magical, mystical properties that have yet to be fully discovered. She assisted the party during the Ravenite raid during the summer coffee festival. She assisted them again on their first mission to Long Beach.
Garden of Faerie Way
Not a full garden, per se, more of a small settlement, Faerie Way is a coral harvesting village just south of Si'ahl. It sits on the shoreline of the sound, and has a population of maybe 100 people total. To most, it's little more than a stopover while traveling to or from Si'ahl. It was named after the Fey Eye.
Places of Faerie Way
-----The Commons - A small marketplace in the center of the garden, where all the shops can be found.
----------Celebration Inn - The local (and only) inn in the garden, run by a curmudgeon dwarf. There's a small coffee shop inside the common room. The rooms are mediocre, but the prices are fine.
----------Steel Lake Goods - A shop in the Commons that sells rope, travel rations, and other useful items for those on the road.
-----Hermit's Tower - A tower made of stone, in an ominous feeling wood just outside of the garden. It's filled with strange magical devices, like a box that keeps food cold and fresh, and a device that changes the temperature inside the tower. A strange hermit lives there, who claims to be from thousands of miles away.
People of Faerie Way
Hermit (Half-Elf, He/Him) - A strange, nameless man in his early 40s that lived in the wilderness outside of the garden, in a strange tower made of stone. He was eccentric, and often spoke in strange riddles. He also possessed alien devices, magical in nature. He claimed to be from a land far, far to the southeast. The party sought his help in deciphering a code to track the dwarf criminal they were hunting.
Krest (Stout Halfling, He/Him) - Krest is the local barista, running a small coffee shop out of the Celebration Inn. He seemed a bit creepy and weird. The party questioned him about the criminal dwarf they were hunting. He also told them the rumors about the Hermit.
Porate (Seagull Aarakocra, He/Him) - Porate runs one of the shops in the Commons, known as Steel Lake Goods. He mostly sells adventuring and traveling gear. The party questioned him about the criminal dwarf they were hunting.
Garden of Bar'eyllis
The largest garden in the Belar habitat, it's also the second largest garden in Salt Whale (Si'ahl being the largest). Much like S'iahl, it's a port garden with a thriving economy. It is sometimes known as the Garden of Destiny, which is where its name came from, an old Cascadian phrase. Bar'ellyis is known for its thriving pipeweed market.
Places of Bar'eyllis
-----Farmer's Market - A bustling market dedicated solely to selling pipeweed and accessories for smoking it.
