"Horses?!" Marine stands in outrage. "Are you serious? Do you have any idea how much a horse costs? The garden was just raided of most of its wealth and--!"
Crane silently raises a hand, and the finch sits back down, his feathers all ruffled. "Do you believe horses are integral to completing this mission?" asks Crane.

"They would make the trip easier, but they aren't needed," Kalinda says.

Poppy raises one of her eyebrow at Marine, but remains silent. Then she nods at what Kalinda said answering Crane: "I just asked about it since Olivia said we are short on time."

"She did? I didn't catch that," April remarks, slightly concerned.

"As Marine pointed out, we simply don't have the funds right now to purchase three horses," Crane says. "But if you believe having them will somehow ensure the success of your mission, I can try and find a way to work something out."
==============
(OOC: Just a reminder, but much like in 2E, horses do not increase overland movement speeds, so having them will not get the party at their destination any sooner. Unless this is meant as some kind of scam on Crane, in which case I'll need a deception check to see if he buys it.)

Poppy shakes her head: "Don't worry, we'll manage without horses." - she says, before turning to April and Kalinda: "I think we're all settled, no?"
OOC
nope, not a scam. I didn't know the thing about horses not increasing our speed.

The party departs, exiting the palace. There, they find Gurt and Starbuck waiting for them. They had sought out Blitz and Mizzle, as well, but the former was busy with his guard duties and the latter wasn't found in time to ask (it can be difficult to track someone down when they don't have a permanent address).
Gurt lazily strings at his instrument while he waits. Starbuck, on the other hand, is practically vibrating as she pours herself yet another cup of coffee. "So...where we heading?" Gurt asks, brushing some of his hair out of his face.

"Our final destination is Long Beach," Kalinda says. She checks to make sure that she has everything, and adjusts her sunglasses as the sun beats down upon her. "Ugh, I miss winter," she mutters.

Poppy turns slightly confused to Kalinda: "Huh?? Why?...Oh right, drow thing. Do you think this condition will impair you during the mission?"

"Never been to Long Beach," Gurt admits. "Hope it's nice this time of year." He sets his lute back in its harness, preparing to set out.
"Winter's great, there's nothing like a hot cup of coffee on a cold day," Starbuck says, running circles around them, quite literally.

Kalinda watches Starbuck run around them for a little bit before she shakes her head to Poppy. "I shouldn't have any problems just as long as I don't lose the glasses," she says. "But I've always liked cooler weather anyway."

"Well, assuming we're taking the main road, guess we should head for the South Gate," Gurt recommends. "There's a small settlement on the way; we can probably get there by the time the sun goes down."

Kalinda nods, and starts moving for the south gate.

"Has anyone already visited this settlement? I hope they have a nice tavern." - Poppy asks, following along.

"My family passed through it on our way here when we moved, but that was a long time ago and I was just a kid, so I don't really remember it," Gurt admits. "It's not a big place; more of a coral growing settlement, but they probably have a cafe like anywhere else."
"Ooh, I wonder what their coffee tastes like?" Starbuck wonders, bunny-hopping forward.
The party makes for the South Gate and crosses it, stepping onto the ancient highway known as the Fey Eye--apparently it dates back to the Ancient Ones' time.
