This thread is to detail the preparations for FW3 as well as mention any updates I make to the website or the game's rules.

I added the page for CC3, but it's not much to look at just yet.

I know I said in the past that I wouldn't have any more 'theme' campaigns, but my last game was completely sandbox and it didn't work out as well as I had hoped.
Sandbox games really only work well if two factors are true. The first is that the party has compatible goals (or work well enough together so it won't matter). The second is that the party has the initiative to make their own decisions.
Unfortunately, the party tends to have one or the other, or neither, but rarely both.
So in the interest of keeping things going more smoothly, I think it would be a good idea if we come up with a main story beforehand. It will not restrain the party. They can still do whatever they want. But if at any point in the game, the party requires some guidance on what to do or where to go next, I think having an overall theme will help.
After some thought, I have come up with a few ideas. Players can come up with their own ideas, as well.
Elven First Contact - The party is either a group of elves who find their way toward the Raptor Empire and make first contact OR a group of humans who try to reach the elves instead. There are lots of ways this could work out. For instance, perhaps the party consists of runaway slaves who try to escape the Empire by fleeing to the forbidden forests and stumble upon the elves.
Dwarven First Contact - The party is either a group of dwarves who make their way to the plains (perhaps they are banished to the surface, or maybe they're just eccentric explorers who have left their underground home) OR a group of humans/hobbits who cross the desert and find the dwarves themselves.
Gnomish First Contact - The party is either a group of gnomes who make their way to the plains OR perhaps a group of humans/hobbits who make their way to the gnomish lands for whatever reason.
Underdark Exploration - The party descends deep underground to find out what this 'Underdark' is and discover what kind of threats and wonders may exist deep below.
Endless Sea Exploration - The party all board a boat and go exploring the sea. Can they survive the turmoil waves and discover lost islands, or will they get shipwrecked or eaten by a giant whale?
Raptor Insurrection - The party are a group of slaves (or perhaps freedom fighters from the west) who incite a rebellion against the raptors in an attempt to weaken their nation and forestall the inevitable attack on the plains.
Political Turmoil - The party are citizens of the Deltalands and are caught up in the political battle between the Homesteaders and the Frontiersmen. Who do they side with? Can they influence the big election coming up?
Mercantile Champions - The party are citizens of the Bronzemoon nation, and they seek to find ways to strengthen their country in preparation for the day the Empire attacks.
Divine Champions - The party are citizens of the Celestos nation, and they seek to find ways to strengthen their country in preparation for the day the Empire attacks.
Warrior Champions - The party are citizens of the Dekan nation, and they seek to find ways to strengthen their country in preparation for the day the the Empire attacks.
Black Cloud Champions - The party are members of the Black Cloud tribe, and they seek to weaken the three nations and sew chaos in the plains so that when the Empire makes their move, they are caught unprepared. Then, when the Empire takes over, the Black Cloud are allowed to rule in their name.
It may be possible to complete more than one of these in a single campaign.
What are your thoughts, guys?

All of those sound nice. Except the Black Cloud one. That doesn't sound very nice.
While I would like to play Sunny again, I'm not against playing an elf, a dwarf, or a gnome. Or a human, for that matter.

I'm against the underdark idea and the black cloud one. The others I could do easily enough.

So nobody wants to be the bad guys, eh? Well, if we cross out the Black Cloud and the Underdark, that still leaves 9 left. However, there's still plenty of time to make a decision. I have tons of updates to make on the site before I even get around to working on CC3 officially, so no rush.

I put up the page for Night Death, so the villains are finished now. Now to start work on the heroes. So we discussed ideas for the next game. The ideas I listed were: Elven First Contact Dwarven First Contact Gnomish First Contact Underdark Exploration Endless Sea Exploration Raptor Insurrection Political Turmoil Mercantile Champions Divine Champions Warrior Champions Black Cloud Champions Heather didn't care for the Black Cloud Champions or the Underdark Exploration ideas. Joe didn't care for the Black Cloud Champions, either. So that leaves us with: Elven First Contact Dwarven First Contact Gnomish First Contact Endless Sea Exploration Raptor Insurrection Political Turmoil Mercantile Champions Divine Champions Warrior Champions Something else to consider, though. I know that Joe was hoping to take over Sunny again for the next game. I said that would be okay, and we'd just start the game at level 4. In doing so, this can help eliminate a few more from the list. The Elven First Contact game, the Mercantile Champions, and the Warrior Champions can be stricken from the list. That leaves us with: Dwarven First Contact Gnomish First Contact Endless Sea Exploration Raptor Insurrection Political Turmoil Divine Champions So hey, that narrows it down to six ideas instead of eleven. Any further input on this?

Why did you eliminate some options and not others?

Oooookay. My options for the next Cradle game are: Elven First Contact, Dwarven First Contact, Raptor Insurrection, and Warrior Champions.
Though, I have to ask the same question as Joe. If he is wanting to play Sunny again, why did you eliminate the Elven First Contact game, the Mercantile Champions, and the Warrior Champions? I guess I'm not quite understanding your reasoning there.

Well...seemed pretty obvious to me, but I'll explain.
Sunny is neither an elf or a slave. How would he explain his presence in the Raptor Empire?
Mercantile Champions - The party are citizens of the Bronzemoon nation, and they seek to find ways to strengthen their country in preparation for the day the Empire attacks.
Sunny is not a citizen of the Bronzemoon nation (and for good reason, as hobbits are not allowed citizenship).
Warrior Champions - The party are citizens of the Dekan nation, and they seek to find ways to strengthen their country in preparation for the day the the Empire attacks.
Sunny is not a citizen of the Dekan nation. I guess he could become one, if he wished. I suppose I just assumed he would choose Celestos instead since it was run by the church and was supported by the Deltalands.

Some of the ones I want to do:
Endless Sea Exploration - I like boats.
Political Turmoil - I like politics.
Gnomish First Contact - I like gnomes.
Dwarven First Contact - I like dwarves.
I'm not prepared to side with one human nation over the others. If you want my hippie response, they should work together.
Perhaps we can build a ship and explore the coast lines of the continent, having first contact with elves, dwarves, and gnomes.

Ambitious, but possible. What do you think, Heather?
