It's true. Weis officially announced it herself recently. It's an animated flick based on Autumns of Dragon Twilight. www.dragonlance-movie.com/It's being directed by Will Meugniot, who did X-Men and the Real Ghostbusters. The script is being written by George Strayton, who has done a few episodes of Hercules: Legendary Journies and Xena: Warrior Princess. Hickman and Weis are heavily involved. The following voice actors have been confirmed: Michael Rosenbaum as Tanis Half-Elven Lucy Lawless as Goldmoon Jason Marsden as Tasslehoff Burrfoot They're aiming for a PG-13 rating and is expected to be released in the fall of 2007.

That sounds like fun. It should be interesting.

They have cast the voice for Raistlin: Kiefer Sutherland, better known for his role as Jack Bauer on that show I've never watched but everyone else has, 24.

Never ever had an interest in Dragonlance until I heard Kiefer was doing the movie. Now I must see it.

Agreed. Kiefer as Raistlin? I could see it. That deep, gravelly voice instilled with more gravitas than Stephen Colbert and Stone Phillips combined... Mm... Whoah, what?
On another note, James Marsden is the voice of Max Goof. Hmm.
Michael Rosenbaum plays Lex Luthor in Smallville, but he's also the voice of Wally West, aka the Flash, on Justice League.
And, I guess Lucy Lawless played Xena a couple of years ago... Whatever.

There are new developments! Click on the link in the first post to see them. There's some concept artwork up (the baaz looks pretty cool), and they have announced many additional voice actors. Most of them are fairly obscure, but guess who they got to the voice of Tika? Michelle Trachtenberg. Mmmm. Also, a black guy is playing Gilthanas? Well...that's an interesting choice for a Qualinesti.

It looks like it belongs on Saturday morning cartoons.

It actually looks pretty good. I'm glad that they chose that style, it's old-school, like the Thundercats or something. Of which they are also making a movie I hear.

Which is fitting, since Dragonlance first came out around the same time (early 80s).
Yeah, but it'll be entirely CGI. And have a much, much bigger budget. And probably be tinkered with by Hollywood Execs. (How much you wanna bet Panthro will speak Ebonics?)
The Dragonlance movie may have a small budget, but one thing we can be assured of--it will be pure.

Before seeing this movie I never knew dragons punched people. It was alright I think. Good and bad things.

I was hanging out at the Dragonlance forums and read this post by Margaret Weis herself.
