David, it's a much better idea to simply buy a new computer. Mel will cost around 200 dollars to upgrade, and you'll still have a hunk of junk computer that can barely run things.

Okay...but even if I do that, wouldn't I still have to buy a new video card?

Depends. If you wanted everything to run awesomely. If you don't need it to be good, and just need it to work, then no.

Well, guess I have two seasons to pay off all my debts and start saving up.

I can tell you straight up that it doesn't really look that demanding, as a revision to my previous statement. We'll have to see when it comes out. I'm wondering how much resources the kinematics and extrapolation will take.

I'll kill you if you even think about it.
You ever heard of a mac gamer? No? That's because they don't exist.

I've never heard of a mac gamer, to be sure...but then, how many gamers do I know personally? Like...five, tops.
Besides, with all the viral problems I've had with Mel in the past, it might be wise to look into getting a mac.

I'd just like to say, despite this thread being a month old, you can now natively run Windows on a Mac. Though, this won't help your virus problems.
On to Spore, since all the animations are procedurally generated, perhaps your video card being old won't be much of a problem. Or maybe you'll just need to upgrade to three or four generations behind currently, which will probably be, what, $50-100 by the time Spore comes out in around 2007.

It's also a matter of just getting a better computer to have a better computer =P
The Mac and Windows thing is so recent... But you need your partitioned hard drives and everything. I personally think it's great.
