The world was created. How this was done and by whom depends largely on who you ask.
-5000
Elven society developed, using magic to help grow cities from the earth itself.
-4000
Dwarven society developed, using metalworks and technology to hollow out entire mountains for living space.
-3000
The elves formed the Ruara Empire (which means “House of Dreams”) and began spreading their civilization all over the main continent. At about the same time, the dwarves began forming their own underground empire called Farikak.
-2000
The Ruara Empire spread over nearly the entire main continent, while the dwarves took over most of what is underneath it. Building ships, the elves sailed out and found a series of islands that are inhabited by a new race never seen before—humans. They enslaved these humans, under the notion of helping them, and consequently spread them all over the world in the process.
-1000
Halfling society developed, mostly agricultural. They became serfs for the elves, working the farms for them.
-900
Dwarves wind up encroaching on the goblinoid races. A long war started between the two, later called the Ha’Kur War. Eventually, the goblinoids fell back to what is now Renosia and managed to hold up there.
-700
The hobgoblins organized, forming the Malice Dynasty, and took over what is now Renosia. They recruited the bugbears, goblins, gnolls, kobolds, and other races that had been driven from their homes, in the hopes of putting down the dwarven and elven empires once and for all.
-500
Gnomish society developed. They wound up becoming integrated into dwarven society, treated as servants and second-class citizens.
-300
The Malice Dynasty declared war on the Ruara Empire. This was later to be called the Malreth War. It was a long and bloody affair, ending with the Dynasty retreating back to Renosia. The Elven victory was generally attributed to their use of powerful magic, something the goblinoids lacked.
-200
The Dynasty spent years learning sorcery. When they felt ready, they attacked Ruara again. This time, however, they summoned armies of demons from the underworld to aid them. This was an even bloodier conflict than the last, called the Malinar War. Even with the help of the dwarven empire, the battle ended in a stalemate, both sides weakened to the point that they were nearly wiped out.
-150
The humans rebelled against their elven masters, in what is called the Dre’Ar Insurrection. The halflings and gnomes aided them in this venture, and the empires were far too weak from the wars to put up much resistance.
-100
A new empire formed, called Eonia (meaning “Eternity”) in which the humans rule. It spread throughout the entire continent and the local islands, conquering everything. Using the magic they inherited from the elves and the technology from the dwarves, they even formed a flying city (Infinity) to be the seat of the empire, where no enemy can reach without the power of flight. The Eonians grew so powerful, that supposedly they even tamed the dragons, giving them aerial mastery.
000
Chrysote 4th - Carnage War began. An apocalyptic event that nearly wiped out all life in the world.
001
Saffir 28th - Carnage War ended. The world was left in shambles. The Lord and Lady of Gontoria, George and Amara Juniper, were killed in the fighting. Their two daughters, Wylie (10) and Brianna (2) were left with a shattered empire. Lawlessness ran wild.
007
Wylie, now 16, managed to rally enough former soldiers together to take the city of Crystal Spire. She declared herself Queen but ruled over nothing but the city itself. She sealed the city off, refusing to allow outsiders in for fear of invasion. She married a wealthy merchant named Caelan to continue her line and ultimately has four children over the next few years. None survived beyond their first year.
012
Wylie slowly began to lose touch with reality. Paranoid that those around her were seeking her death, she had her husband killed for treason, claiming he was responsible for her children's deaths. Soon after, she began to fear Brianna, who was growing into a young woman and would soon be a threat to her claim. Wylie sent assassins after Brianna, but she managed to escape the castle with the servants' help and disappeared into the wilderness beyond the city's gates.
017
Now 18, Brianna returned to the city of Crystal Spire with a holy army at her back. During her exile, she met a group of clerics and paladins who had been blessed by Gonto and joined up with them. Believing that a higher power was needed to restore the nation, they began moving from town to town, helping restore them, driving off bandits and monsters, and helping those in need. They grew in strength and number, and had now returned to the city so Brianna could claim the throne, just as Wylie feared. Seeing the divine power Brianna's army wielded, Wylie's forces quickly surrendered. Wylie the Mad was locked away and Brianna became the new queen. Brianna married the paladin hero, Aldan, and together they had 12 children.
030
Uniting the nearby towns and cities under one rule, Brianna formed the holy nation of Tardiff which consisted of the heartland of the old Eonian empire, with Crystal Spire as the capital.
052
Brianna's fourth-born child, Lilah, was chosen as heir and became the new Queen of Tardiff at the age of 31. Brianna the Uniter, now 50 years old, stepped down. By this point, Tardiff now controlled most of the continent.
058
Early on during Lilah's reign, trouble started. Powerful noble families began challenging her authority, quietly at first but more brazenly later on. The new holy empire began to fracture more and more as many had different ideas how the empire should be ruled. When Lilah married a commoner, instead of another noble, this only exacerbated things. Lilah would have two children, but both were dead within a few years due to disease. Her husband died of illness a few years later.
065
A massive civil war broke out, fracturing the empire into five nations. The elven and dwarven nations, still bitter from their defeat by Eonia, refused to get involved. This war would go on to last 100 years and is known in Tardiff as the Civil Revolt but elsewhere is called the War of Sovereignty.
066
Lilah took a second husband at the age of 45, in hopes of providing an heir and soon; with the war going on, the last thing Tardiff needed was an inner-conflict over succession. Lilah's new husband was a young cleric of Gonto named Liam. They would go on to have three children, the first (Farleigh) being born that very year.
100
Lilah the Sword, now 79, finally steps down. Farleigh, at the age of 34, became the new queen of Tardiff. She inherited her mother's war.
111
Farleigh's reign sees nothing but war, as the kingdom shrinks further and further. She loses most of the land her ancestors took, until Tardiff becomes the size it is today. Her personal life isn't much better. She marries, has five kids, then divorces when she discovers her husband cheating on her with the castle maids. She marries a second time, and has five more kids. There is considerable in-fighting among these ten heirs for the throne.
135
Farleigh the Defender steps down at the age of 69. Her second daughter, Winn, becomes queen. She takes a husband and would go on to have 9 children.
136
Winn manages to finally end the war by brokering peace with the other nations. A treaty is signed, recognizing the sovereignty of Swadia, Picardie, Kavala and Calabria. Consequently, Winn is a controversial figure. Some see her as a great peacemaker, others see her as a traitor and a weakling.
165
Winn the Peacemaker steps down, and makes her eldest son, Hylin, the first king of Tardiff. Hylin marries a Swadian princess and they have 10 children together. His entire reign is peaceful and otherwise unremarkable.
190
Hylin the Humble steps down and his eldest daughter, Aetia, becomes the new queen. She marries a Calabrian noble named Matteo. Together, they have one son, named Paer.
201
War of Drakes begins. The king of Kavala insults Queen Aetia. Outraged, she declares war against the entire nation. Things go south pretty quickly. The queen herself is killed during the first serious battle, but her husband, Matteo, continues the war in her name out of revenge.
212
Paer becomes king and ends the war with Kavala by promising to marry a Kavala princess. He does so, but after their second child, she mysteriously dies of an unknown and untreatable disease. Their two children also die of the same mysterious disease.
250
Paer dies, causing a huge upheaval in the kingdom as he has no legitimate heirs. He did sire quite a few bastards in his day, however. The next few years sees these bastards each trying to take the throne, sending assassins, diplomats and spies after each other.
252
Elena, one of Paer's bastards, manages to come out on top and become the new queen of Tardiff.
264
After marrying a Picardie prince, Elena gives birth to her first daughter and heir, Rhonwen.
