The Tiaru (War Galley)
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Crew: 150 (elves 60%, humans 21%, dwarves 4%, gnomes 2%, halflings 3%, half-elves 8%, other 2%)
Officers:  Julak (Captain), Toven (First Officer), Setra (Chaplain), Heven (Navigator), Varil (Engineer), Divex (Pilot), Rahis (Security), Kevara (Quartermaster)

Running 130 feet in length and 20 feet in width, most of the power of the Tiaru comes from its 140 oars.  However, three masts supplement the galley's speed and maneuverability, making the ship useful in trade and deadly in war.  The vessel can carry a crew of 150 and a maximum cargo of 150 tons.  It also has a powerful ram.

The Tiaru is one of many ships that make up the Blue Lightning.  It often patrols the seas, looking for pirates or smugglers or other criminals to attack.  It will also receive assignments from other ships in the organization.



People of the Tiaru
Julak Tyris (Male Elf) - The captain of the Tiaru.  Although only 35, he has earned the respect of his crew and fellow Blue Lightning captains with his tendency to laugh at death.  He's also quite the ladies man.  He has long brown hair that is often pulled back into a ponytail, green eyes, and ebony skin.

Toven Khav (Male Elf) - First Officer of the Tiaru.  Toven is 33 and has short black hair, brown eyes, and tanned skin.  There is some kind of tribal tattoo over his left eye.  Toven is very loyal to Julak; the two are like brothers.  It's clear they have some history together.  But Toven, while friendly, doesn't ever speak of his past.

Setra (Female Elf) - Chaplain of the Tiaru.  A young woman of only 24, Setra is a cleric of Octhanus and part of the Mercy faction of the Divine Trinity Church.  She has short black hair, blue eyes and tanned skin.  She's a very intelligent woman and quite diplomatic, but is terrified of public speaking and gets nervous when too much pressure is put on her.  She's very compassionate, however, especially to the sick and small children.  She has been with Julak and Toven since the beginning.

Heven (Male Elf) - Navigator of the Tiaru.  A 31 year old elf who helps chart the courses for the Tiaru.  He is also a minor Storm Sorcerer.  He shaves his head bald, but otherwise has black hair.  His eyes are brown and his skin is tanned brown.  Heven is married to Varil. He is very obedient, but has little compassion for others and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty. He daydreams a lot, too. He doesn't seem to care much about the cause, just hurting and killing pirates.

Varil (Female Half-Orc) - Engineer of the Tiaru.  Varil is the only non-elven officer about the ship.  She has a real head for math and design, and helps in repairing the ship when it is damaged.  She has black hair and brown eyes, and her skin has a green tint to it.  She is 24 years old.  Although crude and hot-headed, she is fiercely driven. She is married to Heven strangely enough.  The two make quite a pair.

Divex (Male Elf) - Pilot of the Tiaru.  Divex's job is to steer the ship.  He is an acolyte of Crizza, as well.  Divex is the oldest of the officers at 48 years old, although he looks just as young as the others.  He has black hair, brown eyes and tanned skin.  Divex is set in his ways and very distrusting of anyone non-elven.  He especially is displeased with Heven's and Varil's marriage.  He has a bad habit of rambling endlessly about the 'good old days.'  He has been with Julak and Toven since the beginning.

Rahis (Female Elf) - Chief of Security of the Tiaru.  A 32 year old warrior who makes sure order is kept among the crew.  She is a brave warrior who believes very strongly in destiny. She believes her destiny is to be captain of her own ship someday. She likes men quite a lot, and can be a bit overbearing in the way she flirts with them. She joined the crew fairly recently. They picked her up in the city of Tu'Valie a year ago. She is originally from Condletun, however.

Kevara (Female Elf) - Quartermaster of the Tiaru.   A 26 year old bard who keeps track of inventory aboard the Tiaru.  Kevara is the quartermaster for the Tiaru. She is very good at her job, but incredibly absent-minded at everything else. She likes jewelry and nice things, and is very proud of her heritage (she is the great-great-grandniece to an elven princess from Ruara...supposedly). She joined the crew fairly recently. They picked her up in the city of Tu'Valie a year ago. That is where she grew up, as well.

Nalu Araullo (Male Halfling) - A sailor.  Nalu is a bit of a pervert and skirt chaser.

Donato Trucco (Male Elf) - A sailor. A serious young man, and a bit mysterious--but mostly grumpy.

Hadrian Odell (Male Human) - A sailor.  A good-natured fellow, but kind of dumb.

Acel Larve (Male Elf) - A sailor.  A flirtatious, boisterous fellow who likes to drink, gamble, and spend time with women.

Enzo Fini (Male Human) - A sailor.  A fairly young lad, and kind of shy.

Tu'Valie
Tu'Valie is the capital city of Hashadeth, the name being elvish for 'Rebellion.' The city is on an inlet leading out to the ocean, with a small island in the center holding the governor's keep and the city itself on the two sides of the shore.



Population: 13,905 (55% human, 20% elven, 15% half-elven, 2% dwarven, 2% gnomish, 2% halfling, 2% plane-touched, 1% half-orc)

The Queen of Harts is by far the largest and most expensive inn in the city. Its spacious, has a large and accommodating staff and numerous magical items including magic baths and laundry machines available (courtesy of the Thundergulls Magic Guild). Their suites and rooms are locked with magic and require a special ring to open, making lockpicking very difficult. Anything a guest requests can be provided from food to games to 'company' but it all comes at a rather high price. Generally the bill isn't given until the following day, so it's more than possible for someone to accidentally rack up a huge tab and not realize it until it's too late.

The Whispering Wind is a smaller inn deep in the city, for those who prefer a bit more comfort than the inns at the harbor, but whose pockets aren't quite as deep to afford the Queen of Harts.

The Thundergulls Magic Guild is the largest, and by far most powerful magic guild in the city. It is run by the same man who founded it a century ago. They supply a number of magical services as well as goods to the city, including the Queen of Harts Inn.

The South Guild Jewelry Shop was once run by an elven woman named Amaruilinal Baequirae but was bought out the by the Guild.

The Temple of Obedience is a small, shabby temple dedicated to Gonto, found in the Merchant District.  It is the only temple to Gonto in the city.

The Temple of Charity is a large, sprawling temple in the slums that is dedicated to Octhanus.  It offers free meals and healing to anyone who asks.

Off the Book is a small but prosperous bookbinding shop in the Merchant District.

There is a large and sprawling amusement park on Governor's Island that only just recently opened up.

There is a library with magical books.  These books appear blank at first, but if you whisper the title of a book before opening it, the words from that book will appear in the blank book.  This allows the library to hold hundreds of books within only a handful.

The Blue Lightning Museum is dedicated to the history of the Blue Lightning, despite the fact that the governor insists there are no official ties between the people of Tu'Valie and them.

People of Tu'Valie

Azerath Thundergull (Male Elf) - An elf wearing purple robes and carrying a rather elaborate looking staff. A seagull sits on his shoulder. A small marble like stone, both red and blue in color, orbits his head like a tiny moon. His hair is grey, suggesting he is rather old--but his face is still quite young looking, at least by human standards. His eyes are violet and his skin is quite pale. He is the leader, founder and potionsmaster of the Thundergulls magic guild.

Samwen (Male Elf) - A kohen of Gonto, the sole priest at the Temple of Obedience, the only temple in the city dedicated to Gonto.

Aata Hauate (Male Human) - The leader of a group of adventurers called Aata's Adventurers that work in and around Tu'Valie.

Wystan Taylor (Male Human) - A swashbuckler and lady killer, part of the group that works for Aata Hauate.

Somma Varela (Female Elf) - A sorceress that works for the group under Aata Hauate.

Riana Lind (Male Elf) - A cleric of Octhanus that works under Aata Hauate.

Moray Aitken (Male Half-Elf) - A thief that works for Aata Hauate.

Athel Rarde (Male Halfling) - A thief that works for the Midnight Brawlers thief guild.

Eanindel (Female Elf) - A thief that works for the Midnight Brawlers thief guild.

Amers (Male Human) - A thief that works for the Midnight Brawlers thief guild.

Thrumal (Male Dwarf) - A cleric of Renos that works for the Midnight Brawlers thief guild.

Metha (Female Halfling) - A mage that works for the Midnight Brawlers thief guild.

Harrin Talbot (Male Human) - A merchant and former pirate, an old buddy of Johannas.

Rosina Talbot (Female Human) - Harrin's sister, also a merchant, who makes and sells little knickknacks to tourists.

Serenity
Serenity is the capital city of the island of Sanctuary.  It's a massive holy city dedicated to Octhanus, and headquarters to the Octhanian faith among the islands.



Population: 10,000 (65% human, 15% halfling, 5% dwarven, 4% elven, 3% half-elven, 2% gnome, 1% other)

Serenity is a very religious and enlightened city, where violence of any kind is forbidden, but magical healing is free to all.  The city boasts no poverty and very little crime.  It offers free higher learning, housing, and basic amenities to its citizens.  The city relies on donations to keep everything going, all of which is coordinated through the church.  The city's government is a theocracy; the high priestess is the supreme ruler.  Recently, the city has taken in hundreds of refugees from the city of Tu'Valie.  They are temporarily being kept in a tent town on the outskirts of the city, until more permanent accommodations can be built for them.

Serenity boasts numerous inns.  Among them are the Hearthglow Inn, a simple and humble place usually reserved for adventurers and travelers, founded by a Swadian family that migrated years ago to the islands.  There is also the Azure Palace Inn, which is for more high scale visitors such as ambassadors, diplomats and heads of state.

The temple to Octhanus is the heart of the city, and actually three large buildings connected by a courtyard.  One building is dedicated to healing, one to council, and one to financial aid.  Healing is free to all, but there is a limited amount, so there are often long lines for it.

Serenity University is free to all citizens, but its overall funding has dwindled in recent times, especially with the recent refugee crisis.  It once boasted an extensive library that has since fallen into ill repair.  The city law enforcement has run into similar problems, as there is so little crime in the city, the sheriff and his men are not considered high priority.

Large parts of the city have been abandoned, usually from businesses that decided to move locations to somewhere more profitable, as the city has strict laws in place to prevent companies from exploiting workers.  These areas are currently being prepped to be tore down and rebuilt as new homes for incoming refugees.

People of Serenity
Kile (Male Halfling) - A dock worker who greets new ships and registers their arrival and departure.

Saren (Male Half-Elf Cleric of Octhania) - Saren is captain of the Seleya, and an ambassador of peace for the church.  He often goes wherever he is needed, to broker peace or heal the sick and wounded in a crisis.  When he goes home, though, he returns to the city of Serenity.  Saren hired the party to investigate some mysterious deaths in the refugee camp that can't be determined.

Ozap (Male Gnoll Fighter) - One of Saren's officers.  He is a bit overprotective of the priest.

Zarva (Female Gnome Thief) - One of Saren's officers.  She specializes in ship repairs and is the quartermaster for the Seleya.

Flinn (Male Human Swashbuckler) - Flinn is a refugee from Tu'Valie who has become a sort of unofficial leader of the other refugees.  His wife died in the attack, and he now is the sole caretaker of their daughter, Rose.

Rose (Female Human) - Rose is a young girl who survived the attack on Tu'Valie, but has been mute ever since.

Aguru Smallfoot (Male Halfling Fighter) - Aguru is the sheriff of the city.  He is often frustrated, as he feels the church doesn't value him or his men enough to fund them properly.  He has several deputies, all halflings.  Among them are Johnson, Riegal, Mercer and Ray.  He hired the party to deal with the disruptive Red Hawks at the Azure Palace Inn non-violently.  He also became involved in the secret Crimson Wolf slaver operation the party stumbled upon in the city.

Seredic Farfoot (Male Halfling Cleric) - An elderly cleric of Octhanus, responsible for raising Senllip and Imrich when they died in the fight against the Crimson Wolves.

The Blue Moon is a 90-foot ship possessing three masts, a small forecastle, and crew quarters up to 20 people.  In addition, the Blue Moon can hold up to 100 tons of cargo and supplies--more than enough to cover an extended sea voyage.  The Blue Moon's stability, maneuverability and movement rate make it an ideal vessel for trade or war.

People of the Blue Moon
Kalana Ioane (Female Human Fighter) - The captain of the Blue Moon.  Kalana has the tanned skin of a woman that was born and raised on the islands of Octhania. Her hair dark brown hair is long and slightly wavy which she normally wears up in a light blue ribbon. Ocean air isn't friendly to wavy hair. She has deep brown eyes that show little to no emotion.  Kalana stands at 5'8" which is covered with tight laced up black pants with matching knee high boots. A brown belt rests around her waist. Lightly tucked into her pants is a light blue low cut form fitting shirt. She normally has her two sabre's attached to her side. One is rather sinister looking while the other appears elven made. There is a flask attached to her hip for easy access to booze and a pistol. She has a backpack filled with whatever items she carries with her as well.

Senllip Browndoor (Male Halfling Burglar) - An officer of the Blue Moon.  Senllip usually keeps clean and neat. He likes long sleeves and shiny boots. He hair is cut short and he keeps good shape. He usually wears a few rings, earrings and sometimes a chain on his breast. His belt buckle is also fancy and so are his cuffs. When on duty he is in his leather armor which is kept oiled and in good repair. He carries his small weight and height with dignity and importance.

Brax Firehand (Male Dwarf Gunslinger) - An officer of the Blue Moon.  Bald, long braided reddish brown bead (shaves his head and is not naturally bald). Brown eyes and a stoic look. Stout like most dwarven kind.

Bayla (Female Aarkocra Storm Sorcerer) - A crewman of the Blue Moon.  Bayla is in her late twenties.  She is a seagull aarakocra with white feathers on her head and torso, and grey feathers on her arms and wings. Her beak is yellow, except for the tip, which is red. She is of a fairly small and petite build. Often she wears a dirty toga and a satchel over her shoulder to carry her things.

Auli'i Kahale (Female Human Mercy) - A crewman of the Blue Moon.  Auli'i is in her early twenties. She is slender with an hour glass figure. She has shoulder length, wavy black hair; she usually wears a flower in it. Her eyes are brown, as is her skin. She wears the blue vestments of a pastor. In battle, she dons leather armor and carries either a club and shield or a sling.

Liko Maleko (Male Human) - A crewman of the Blue Moon.  Liko is in his early twenties.  He has black hair, brown eyes and brown skin.  He has a wispy mustache he is trying to grow out.

Mirinda Kadrat (Female Dwarf) - A crewman of the Blue Moon.  Mirinda is in her late twenties.  She has brown hair, hazel eyes and brown skin.  She wears her hair in cinnamon buns and has a scare on her left cheek.

Donato Trucco (Male Elf) - A crewman of the Blue Moon.  Donato is in his early twenties.  He has black hair, green eyes and tanned skin.

Malika Zekkal (Female Human) - A crewman of the Blue Moon.  Malika is in her mid-twenties.  She has red hair, dark eyes and black skin.

Ungu Wati (Male Human) - A crewman of the Blue Moon.  Ungu is in his late twenties.  He has brown hair, violet eyes and brown skin.

Pagas Voreios (Female Ice Genasi) - A crewman of the Blue Moon.  Pagas is in her late twenties.  She has sharp, angular features.  Her skin and hair range from white to bluish-white.  She has extremely cold skin and sometimes a thin layer of frost grows in her hair, even during the summer.
