Okay, I love it.
I just finished the tutorial, it's 5 AM and I need to go to sleep. Tomorrow I'll upload a screen of my character and I'll elaborate on my first impressions.

I only had time for about 80 minutes last night. Which got me through Character Creation and to the point where I now have two companions, but that's about it.
My game is pretty choppy. My computer is 6 years old, so it just barely runs. Transitions between cutscenes and gameplay take 30 seconds or more, and loading screens can last up to 2-3 minutes. But it does work, at least.

Today I learned how to steal, so now I'm terrorizing the druids' groove.
The game goes supersmoothly on the steam deck (thankfully), but yeah loading times are a bit long for me too.
Did you went with the Human bard in the end? Have you already any ideas on which subclass you'll choose?

I only squeezed in about half an hour last night, so I just made it to the beach.
Yeah, I went with Human Bard. I'll try and remember to get a screenshot next time I play.
As for sub-class, I'm not sure. I have never played a Bard in 5E before so I don't know much about them. I guess I'll figure it out when the time comes.

As an experienced Bard player, I would normally just say “Pick Lore Bard,” but things may be different for a D&D video game than an actual D&D game.
So, Lore Bard lets you use Bardic Inspiration to lower enemy rolls, while Valor Bard lets you use it for Damage Rolls and AC, which I think are about as powerful—maybe the Valor ability is a little better. Valor Bards get Extra Attack at Level 6, but Lore Bards get something much flashier: Additional Magical Secrets. You learn 2 Spells from ANY class’s spell list. (The Level 14 abilities aren’t anything special; Lore Bards can give themselves Bardic Inspiration on Ability checks, Valor Bards can cast a spell and attack as a Bonus Action…which doesn’t really strike me as very good, since that means you can’t use Binspiration that turn)
I always prefer to play Bards as primarily spellcasters, so I gravitate towards Lore Bard in general, but Valor is better if you want to play more of a combat Bard, which may be better in a video game. Plus, Magical Secrets aren’t nearly so enticing when you can have any class in the game in your party, swapping out as needed.
Also, College of Swords is in the game…I don’t really like it conceptually (It’s like a Valor Bard, but instead of being a Skald who marches into battle inspiring others, you spend Bardic Inspiration to do extra damage and special effects with your OWN attacks…bleck), but it’s crunchy/video game-y design probably lends itself well to Baldur’s Gate.

Yeah, I was also a bit puzzled on the inclusion of Sword Bards. I feel like they step a bit on Valor Bards as a sort of melee-bards. But I guess they are the most videogame-y to implement.

My computer is 6 years old and it just barely runs it. I might need to invest in an upgrade at some point. I timed it today, and it took 8 minutes to fully load the game! Anyway, I took a screen shot. Here you go:

I reached level 2 last night.
I died twice in that fight in the chapel before finally beating the treasure raiders down there. I wasn't expecting such a drastic difficulty spike so early on.
I made it to the goblin fight outside the grove, and my game started sputtering so badly it crashed. Fortunately, the second time around I did alright.
Having fun trying to get to know my party members better, although none of them so far are particularly forthcoming.

With that haircut, he looks like a stereotypical member of Gen Z. Fr, fr. Anyway, reached level 3 last night. I chose Valor, because...I dunno, I just sort of picked it at random, to be honest. I'm still at the druid grove. I met Alfira and helped her with her song. Which was pretty easy, since I am a Bard.

Fought some harpies, won, then my game crashed and I had to fight them all over again. I did find a nifty magic ring in their nest, though.
I should save more often, but it takes like 2 minutes to save and over a minute to autosave. Blegh.

I knoooow, saving/reloading is a struggle for me too. Which is a shame because I have to do it tons of time when I go on my crime spree with Astarion
I'm on level 4 btw, and I'm exploring the forest..taking my sweet time to reach the goblin camp

I've noticed several 5E mechanics missing from the game. Attunement, Dodging, and Readying an Action. I wonder if these were deliberately left out or just oversights.
I got this nifty magic item, though, that lets you basically cast Speak with Dead at will. I've used it on every corpse I've found to no effect, but it finally worked on Edowin (the guy dying of owlbear wounds in the wilderness). He had...some interesting things to say.
Anyway, currently heading out to the swamps to investigate something on Kagha. Something doesn't smell right about her.
Looking forward to level 4. Do they still have a choice between ASI and a feat, like in the core game?
