I'm not sure, but it does seem to involve the Skrulls.

Yeah and that part matches what I remember of the graphic novel. I just wouldn't want it to be like the Civil War Avengers film where it was not at all like the Civil War graphic novels at all.

I imagine they'll make some changes. After all, in the comics, Civil War was about registering superheroes' secret identities. But in the MCU, most of them don't have secret identities; Spider-Man being one of the few exceptions. Everyone knows Tony Star is Iron Man, there is only Thor, no Donald Blake, etc. So they had to change that, for instance. In this case, Secret Invasion was about a Skrull infiltration, right? But the Skrulls are good in the MCU, not evil, so I imagine they'll go a different route with that.

Yes, in the comics skulls for the most part are "bad guys" thought I never felt that they "all" were evil some just misguided, as tends to happen when rulers misinform their people. Or like Thanos have a misguided sense of being a savior and doing good with their actions even if they are evil acts.

Haaa, wait, what??? I can't believe this. They are making a continuation to Quantum Leap, perhaps one of my all time favorite TV shows ever, and it's coming out on Monday, and somehow--SOMEHOW--it flew so completely under my radar that this is the first I'm hearing about it! I was browsing Youtube and saw it randomly, and thought it was some kind of prank or fan-made thing when I saw the thumbnail. This is kind of nuts. I'm not even sure how to feel about it. I want to be excited, but honestly, I'm pretty nervous it might not be great. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill; 'fine' or even 'good' won't be good enough. Well, guess I'll find out on Monday.

Interesting... But as you said big shoes to fill. I'm putting that on my "give it a try" watch list.

Yeah, same here.
Some additional thoughts:
The original show took place somewhere around the year 2000, which was (at the time) about 11 years in the future. We only see a few glimpses of the future, but it looks really silly by today's standards. This new show has the present day set now, in 2022, so I guess they can avoid that issue. This also avoids the question as to why Sam never leaped further than the present year the show was airing, even though that was technically in the past.
The Hologram is army instead of navy, and interestingly enough I looked up the actress and she really did serve in the army in real life. She also studied law, and only fairly recently got into acting. This is her first real break in acting, so it should be interesting to see how well she does.
The Leaper and the Hologram are apparently romantically involved, although the Leaper doesn't remember due to the Swiss Cheese Memory Effect of Leaping. Sounds kind of messy, to be honest. In the original show, Sam was married but had forgotten and Al never told him (Sam's wife asked him not to) because the idea was that if he knew he had a wife, he would be unable to focus on the mission, which sometimes involved getting romantically involved with other women. If, in this show, the Hologram has to watch the Leaper, her lover, mess around with other women unknowingly...oof, that'll be really messy, indeed.
At some point, perhaps for the season finale or something, Dr. Sam Becket has got to make a cameo, right? It would be criminal if Bakula never shows up, even briefly. I also hope they pay some kind of tribute to Stockwell. At least mention how Al lived happily ever after with Beth or something to that effect.
I'm also hoping the new show won't be afraid to get its hands dirty when dealing with the past. One thing I loved about the original show is that it didn't paint the past as idyllic. Sam had to deal with all sorts of bigots, and the show wasn't afraid to get pretty raw about how nasty the past could be.
Also, Sam tended to leap back to the 50's, 60's and 70's primarily. This new guy, assuming he's around 35, could only go as far back as the late 80's. What's interesting about that, to me, is that means he'll only be visiting time periods that I've lived through, whereas Sam always visited time periods prior to my being born. Even when he would leap back to the 80's, it was usually when I was just a baby still. It also means there won't be much crossover between the two Leapers.

So did anyone else catch the Quantum Leap pilot, and if so, what did you think?
I'm still...trying to sort through my own thoughts and feelings on it. It's hard, because I'm such a huge fan of the original, so I'm trying not to have any knee-jerk reactions to anything different.

It's NBC, so it's on on Peacock.

Ah a service I don't use. I suppose I'll have to start using it again. It's on Hulu but only if you pay for "live TV" which is fairly pricey imo.
I'll probably watch it on Peacock over the weekend or after work tomorrow.

Let me know what you think. In other news, I started watching that new Star Wars show, Andor, over on Disney+. It's a prequel to Rogue One, following the story of Cassian Andor from that film. Generally speaking, I'm not much of a fan of Star Wars and never had interest in running a Star Wars game, but if I ever did, I think it would be like this show. Gritty, with a heavy focus on the messier aspects of a war, and with no Force users whatsoever. Everyone would hate it.

I've been waiting for that show, did they just drop episode 1 this week or did I miss something?
I also played in a Star Wars game that was pretty much just that none of us characters had force powers. I was basically just like Han Solo.

They dropped the first three episodes of Andor on Disney+ on Wednesday. So far I've only had time to watch the first one, though.

Ah I guess I checked too early then. I did watch the behind the making of for the show. But missed that they released episodes already. I checked back on Monday or Tuesday and found nothing to add to my watch list. I'm rechecking now.
