On Saturday, I finally got around to watching the new Marvel special, Werewolf By Night. It's filmed like a classic horror movie, in black and white and even a few deliberate flaws (burn marks on the film, slight skips, etc.). I had meant to catch it before Halloween, but better late than never. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. |

I watched that back on the weekend before Halloween and I liked it, I enjoyed the kind of old school horror flick feel of the film.

I watched the season finale of Andor this evening, and I can't stop thinking about how amazing this show is. If a year ago, you told me my favorite show of 2022 would be a Star Wars property, I'd think you were mad. Everything about this show is so well done. The costumes, the set design, the acting, the writing. Watching the show effortlessly weave its themes into the narrative is a sight to behold. I swear, it sometimes feels like this show was written just for me. And the speeches! There are so many amazingly written speeches in this show. But sometimes the best dialogue are simple, short phrases that seem so innocuous if you don't know the context behind them. Like "How many guards are on each level?" and "One way out!" and perhaps the most commonly used word in the entire season--"Climb!" I can't believe we have to wait for 2024 for season 02, but I imagine it will be well worth the wait. |

Caught the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special last night, something of a parody of the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. It was a lot of fun. Nice to see Mantis finally get some decent screen time for a change; and Cosmo, too, for that matter. I already can't wait for the third film next year. |

The redband trailer for season 2 of The Legend of Vox Machina. And we finally get a date (they've just been saying 'January' for like a month now). I'm super hyped. The sacking of Emon was one of my favorite scenes in Campaign One. |

Is anyone else watching Doom Patrol on HBO? I'm not entirely sure what to think of it. I like it but wish they wouldn't be typical HBO and throw in random nudity and sex scenes. Other than those which fortunately have only so far been 2 or 3 episodes with them. The show has been kind of good imo. It's mostly a group of unremarkable "screw ups" with no real super powers save for one known as "Crazy Jane" 64 personalities some with their own super powers. Kind of interesting someone with MPD and each one has some sort of "meta" power. Any who I'm only on the 13th or 14th episode in Season 1. Hopefully none of this is a "spoiler" but if it is I apologize. I had heard of the Doom Patrol but not a big DC Comics guy I didn't really know much about it. So it was more curiosity that got me watching. Even with some of the typical HBO "action" I kind of got drawn into the story a bit.

Anyone catch the premier to The Last of Us yet? I'm working my way through it now. The first episode is 80 minutes long! So far it's really good, though.

Well I entirely forgot about it. I was like that name does not sound familiar to me. Oh well. I did see the show in one of my streaming platform lists just didn't strike any cords so I hadn't attempted to watch it yet.

Alright Daos, now I remember this show. I just watched the 1.5 hour premier and it was pretty darned good. Though I kind of feel like this type of thing has been done before. I get a bit of a Walking Dead and Resident Evil kind of vibe from some of this.

Yeah, in the sense that that all three are post-apocalyptic and technically have zombies. I find The Last of Us to be far better written, though.

To that I will agree wholeheartedly it is better written than Resident Evil for sure. I also like the way this started vs how TWD started.
