No, that only works if he turns his back on her and runs.
"Stare at his feet and carefully pick past the caltrops" is really just flavor text. The mechanical side is he's just moving at 1/3 movement speed, which basically means he's withdrawing, and withdrawing does not trigger an attack of opportunity.

Baaaaah, low rolls x.x This whole combat was winnable, but we really got hosed by that early natural 20 up side Jherek's head. That's our highest damage-dealer out of the fight entirely from the word 'go'. Edit: "Garnet!" Ladonna yelled as she moved, not to Ryan, but to Jherek. She was going to shove a healing potion down his throat because it made more sense to wake him up than Ryan. Ryan wouldn't be able to do anything after being revived. "We need you to help Ryan and Theorn." To be fair Jherek isn't going to be able to do anything either. Katya said Ryan because Ryan was going to bleed out sooner.

Jherek would be in a position to actually fight, even if he is at one hit point, so he is the best choice for the potion. When it comes to Ryan, Ladonna or Garnet would just need to stabilize him.

Okay, it's been three days. I'm going to go ahead and just NPC Lillian this round so we can move forward.

Sorry, sorry. Had an unexpectedly hectic weekend.
Jherek is attacking?
Damn. If I had known you'd let him attack this combat I would have picked him up ages ago.
How much time is it going to take to pick up the sword? Is the goblin Katya is facing going to get an opportunity attack if she does?

That's okay. If I had known you were going to post today, I would have waited longer.
I can't remember if we talked about this before...I can't find it with the search function, so maybe not? But while the rules state someone revived from negative HP is basically useless, none of my players ever actually follow through on that (and to be fair, being unable to attack, speak coherently or move much in a pbp, especially if it lasts for days or weeks, is kind of a bummer), so over the years I just stopped enforcing that.
It takes a standard action, and it does not provoke an AoO.

Huzzah! Back in the game! I hope it's okay that I took the liberty of fast-forwarding to the point where the Hooded One's spell wears off and Theron and Ingot wake back up, now that combat's ended. I think there were two rounds remaining? I can't remember if we talked about this before...I can't find it with the search function, so maybe not? But while the rules state someone revived from negative HP is basically useless, none of my players ever actually follow through on that (and to be fair, being unable to attack, speak coherently or move much in a pbp, especially if it lasts for days or weeks, is kind of a bummer), so over the years I just stopped enforcing that. Yeah, it came up back on page 38 and page 39 of this thread, back when we'd just fallen into that pit and Katya had gotten critted during the ensuing goblin ambush. Then you were musing about possible alterations to the rule back on page 40 (wow, that was only ten pages ago? These boards sure have gotten quieter recently). If I might make a suggestion? Whatever modified version of the Death's Door rule we're using, you should post that on the list of official house rules we're using over in the Lost Souls Handbook. I like having everything explicitly spelled out for me EDIT: Also, while I'm suggesting things...now that you've finished Horizon Zero Dawn, you should go back to playing Icewind Dale and regaling us with tales about alternate-universe Theron & Friends (...that is the name we decided on for our group, right?? )

Yeah, that's okay, just keep in mind that means Ladonna's sleep spell is going to wear off 2 rounds sooner than it otherwise would have. Oh, yeah, there it is. Sometimes I have trouble remembering if I said something specific to you guys, or to another group entirely. I already did, back in December: Bolded part references the change that was made. Yeah...I've been meaning to. I guess I was waiting for Jherek to come back, and then he never did.

I already did, back in December: Bolded part references the change that was made. Hence my assumption that even if Jherek was healed back to 1 hit point he wouldn't be swinging this combat. The way you rolled it Ladonna shoved a potion down his throat, he got up and killed a goblin in his next breath. Edit: "... I'm glad you're okay" she murmurs demurely, as if the prospect of him not being okay hadn't just spurred her to break formation, run through a raging battle and stand toe-to-toe with a nine-foot monstrosity who she then engaged in single combat. I'm thinking maybe Katya, Mereida's Daughter should start going by Katya, Ogre Slayer?

Granted, if he had taken even 1 point of damage he'd have gone down again. But the odds of that were small, as the two goblins were focused on Katya at the time.
If she wants. The idea that a horse groomer took down an ogre is pretty impressive. Although granted, the fact Ryan blinded him first was a huge factor in her victory.

Sure he was blinded but she had taken a spear through the chest just an hour ago. I think it evens out Edit: While I am thinking about it The idea that a horse groomer took down an ogre is pretty impressive Want to make sure we aren't miscommunicating - Katya and her mother are horse breeders. They breed, raise, train and sell horses that belong to them (at least, that was my intention). "Horse Groomer" is kind of underplaying what she does.

Haha...yeah... The whole time I was typing up my post I was thinking to myself Sorry, Katya...but surely you understand that at this point, a nonviolent resolution just wasn't in the cards. For lots of reasons, really, but primarily...well, we've got three wizardly-types in our party, and diplomacy ain't gonna get any of us access to the Hooded One's spellbook

Fair That wasn't something I'd considered.
Mostly I was thinking there are some questions it would be really good to have answers to. Things like 'how far out is the literal army that you recalled to kill us?' and 'are a dozen ogres going to show up on our doorstep in the next few months?'
Oh well. Hopefully one of our new prisoners (who we are not going to torture) will know the answer to those questions.
I suppose if you are dedicated to solving this by killing the Hooded One staying out in the hallway and just shooting at him without running in past whatever traps he thinks is going to protect him is at least a smart way to do it.
