Usernames are fun to come up with. They show a sense of what you are or what you aspire to be. They give others a small glimpse into your soul, an inkling of what the real you is like, and to find more, they have no option but to dive into the reaches of the internet with you...
Of course, I'm probably just being melodramatic.
What inspired your username on these forums, the GitPG forums, or even somewhere else? Personally, I used to call myself LeemyBeemy, because...well, Leemy was intended to remind me of a lemur (my favorite animal at the time), but I have nothing on the Beemy part. I went as Gallade(My second favorite Pokemon)Guy77, but now I tend to use GravityEmblem. A. It sounds cool. B. It's a portmanteau (a term coined by a mathematician and author with the pen name of Lewis Carrol) of Gravity Falls, a TV show I really like, and Fire Emblem, a game series I really like.

I started using notARobot in a few places as a weak joke poking fun at CAPTCHAs. As in, lots of places force you to solve a CAPTCHA when you register for a username, so my thought was, "If I make my username 'notARobot', then the system should recognize that I'm clearly human and let me skip the CAPTCHA". For some reason, I have yet to find a website whose signup process is prepared to take me at my word on that.

Daos was my first AD&D character, Daos Soulstaff. I never really got to actually play him in actual games, though. I mostly fleshed him out in stories and in an old Dragonlance roleplaying chatroom I used to visit.

Well, true. Anyone who creates a proboard gets the username 'admin' by default. It cannot be changed.

I fluctuate between three usernames. Each have their own reason for existing.
JaguarKnight: I was fascinated in my youth with my meso-american ancestors. I played a lot of PbP/chat based games on Neopets back in the day with that name.
TheFallenSon: Sorta deep personal teenage angst driven. I got arrested my freshman year in high school for an assault (school-yard fight). In an extremely racist town. My family was incredibly embarrassed. So...I adopted this moniker. After several years I used it as a representation of the mental health struggles I went through after my time overseas.
KnightsFallToo: Truth time, used this one on several dating websites as a young man. Women and Girls said it made me interesting and often tried to suss out a meaning during our conversations. I figure it came from when I got injured during my time in service. Twice overseas and once stateside while working as a cop.

I'll admit it got my attention, though I think for slightly different reasons than the young ladies on your dating websites

I am using my real name here, but it use to be dreamangel at least in this forum. I guess you could say that I was being a sap because that was what an ex-boyfriend use to call me.
My typical username now days is horizonsdream. I am not sure how I came up with it, but I always considered myself a little bit of a poet. I thought that the name had a poetic feel to it, so I stuck with it.

The other name I've often gone by online is JadedDM. There's a bit of history with that one. It was coined when I was quite young, probably younger than Gravity. I used to read videogaming magazines way back in the day, and my favorite one was Game Players, which was a very odd publication. I mean, they'd do game reviews and such like any magazine during that time period, but they'd also publish all sorts of weird and nutty things. Now that I think about it, they were basically doing memes, long before they were a thing on the internet. Anyway, one of the articles that would often show up was "Ramblings of a Jaded Gamer." And it was basically just this guy who would complain about stuff he found annoying about games. That's where I got the idea for Jaded DM from. In fact, my old livejournal was called "Ramblings of a Jaded DM," now that I think about it.
Anyway, the reason I was 'jaded' was at first because of my players at the time (not taking the game seriously enough, being munchkin/murderhobos, etc.) and then later, it was because I was jaded about 3E being published. Although to be honest, I was really more salty than jaded about that.
But eventually I got over myself and I guess technically speaking, I'm not really a jaded DM anymore. But what am I going to do, change it? Maybe that's why I don't really use it as much as I used to.

Well I haven't always gone by GreyWolfVT or GreyWolf I actually started when i was about 13ish with the screen name or chat handle of NightWolf or NightWolfVT. VT mostly so folks stop asking where are you from, yeah I'm that type of guy I try to make some things obvious, I used to put 82 in some names long ago to end the confusion of how old are you but it didn't work as well. Night was because I was a night owl and wolf because I've always had a strange fascination with wolves.
Growing older I've become grayer hair wise thanks to some DNA from my parents with premature graying, got my first gray hair at 16... Though I prefer the alternative Grey vs Gray. Wolf still same fascination with wolves as I did as a child. VT same reason to make it semi-obvious as to what State I am from/in. So for the most part any chats, forums or games I was in you would find me by either NightWolfVT or GreyWolfVT for at least the last 15 to 20 years.
The only game and forum I have ever gone by something different is City of Heroes/Vilnians I am known by most all as ToxicStriker. That was one of the original character names I came up with for a Radiation/Radiation Defender. back on the old Live or original release of the game. I've stuck with it ever since for that only. Toxic as it made sense and I did like the Toxic Avenger. Striker as I like Wolverine, Stryker is one of the guys responsible for Wolverine having adamantium and one of the "bad guys" from Wolverine's past. I know long stretch for some of this but it fit and works.

I'm a Sagittarius in meatspace, and Sags are lucky travelers. And even though I don't believe in astrology even a tiny bit, I have indeed always been a very lucky traveler. I also used to be deeply religious, and then after that for a long time I was deeply, vaguely, spiritual. I'm an atheist now but I still like the idea, the romance of a pilgrimage. A long, arduous, possibly dangerous journey for no better reason than connecting to something larger than yourself.

Well hello from another Sag. But hey I'm not much for travel, (currently but I do have places I want to travel to on my "bucket list") though personally not into astrology either I prefer to go by the "Archer" rather than the traveler.

Apparently, I was a Gemini before NASA invented new stars, and now I'm a Taurus. None of that has any meaning to me, but what can you do?
