Senllip is left behind as the other four head upstairs to the upper deck after dropping off their trays up front.
It's a clear and sunny day, and fairly warm. Those in heavy clothing can feel themselves building up a sweat within minutes. The captain and first mate stand near the ship's wheel, conversing lightly. Divex, of course, is the piloting the ship.
Setra and Heven are having some kind of heated conversation up on the aftcastle, while Rahis and Kevara are looking over some scrolls up on the forecastle. Varil, meanwhile, is climbing up on the rigging, seemingly checking on it.
Kalana leads Mathias over to the helm. "Ah, good morning to you both," Julak says with a grin and a wave. "Hero, G-Man, what can I do for you this fine Flameday morn?"
Meanwhile, Jaeron walks around the upper deck, taking in the sights.
Finally, Arieal climbs up into the crow's nest, where Donato is currently stationed. "Oh, uh...Miss Arieal," he says, surprised. "Am I being relieved? I thought you were off duty this morning."

Jaeron takes a stroll avoiding most of the crew so as not to interrupt their work. Feeling the heat of the day the gnome decides to head back to his room to get into some more weather appropriate attire. Taking off his backpack & embroidered robe. Folding his robe neatly then placing it into the chest with his other clothing, changing out of his hose and into his breaches. Before continuing his stroll he decides to leave his pack in his room for the time being lighter and easier to continue his stroll on deck.

Kalana briefly purses her lips together in displeasure upon hearing her nickname, but she quickly recovers as she knows that Julak doesn't mean anything by it. "I'm just escorting G-man," she says. "He mentioned wanting to talk to you, but now that I'm here I'm thinking about being nosy."

"Ah, good morning to you both," Julak says with a grin and a wave. "Hero, G-Man, what can I do for you this fine Flameday morn?" "Captain Julak," Mathias intones with the most graceful formality he can muster. He stops short of actually saluting the captain, but does arrange his posture into the "at attention" stance. "It's been a full week now since your crew scooped me out the drink, so I figured it's high time to see about what it is you plan to do with the likes of me. "Near as I can tell, sir, we're on course to make port at Hashadeth. If you're eager ta be rid of me, I can take my leave there as soon as the ship drops anchor -- and a grateful dwarf I'd be. But I was wonderin', well...my assignment from the Guild's hit a bit of a complication, y'see. "That scalawag what threw me in the ocean is a wanted man, sir, for crimes against the Guild and its property. And 'twas my job to bring him in...only now he's a full week ahead of me, and by the time I can book passage on the fastest ship heading out of Hashadeth for his destination, of course he'll be long gone. To make a long story short, Captain: if I were to report back to my superiors without that man in custody, it'd be a death blow to my reputation as an investigator. "So what I figure, sir, is what with the line of work you lot are in, I'm just as likely to find the lead that'll help me track him down hangin' around on this tub as any other. And this vessel you're sailing's as fine a ship as I've ever set foot on, and several among your crew strike me as halfway respectable folk. "What I'm gettin' at is: if you'll have me, Captain Julak, I'd be honored to work alongside you all and sail aboard the Tiaru awhile. Can't claim I'm an old salt or nothin', but I served in Varneil's navy for six years in my youth, know all my knots proper, and can work the rigging as well as any man or woman aboard. Not above swabbin' the poop deck, neither, if that's what needs doin'. And I've had a fair bit of experience fightin' pirates, too, for whatever that's worth to ya." At this point, Mathias stops speaking to clear his throat, which has become quite parched on account of the length of his uninterrupted monologue. When he's regained the ability to speak, he adds, "Well, that's all I came to say. Think it over in your own time, if ya need to -- ya know where to find me." He waits respectfully for a few moments -- still "at attention" -- then finally offers the captain a salute and turns to go back to his quarters, desperate for something to quench his thirst.

Jaeron while on his stroll will stop be and see what Varil is up to, being one of the few crew members that is friendly to the gnome.

Arieal finishes her climb and the responds. "You are not being relieved, I am off-duty. But I jussst wanted to feel the wind and take a look around thisss morning." She slides on over to stand next to him, leaning on the railing. "Plusss, it'sss not like I can hide on this ship, gotta ssspend my day sssomewhere." She turns to look him in the eye before asking. "Have you ssseen anything interesssting."
After waiting for a response, she let's out a high pitched whistle and waits for a familiar presence to arrive. She holds out her hand and reveals the morning meal for the bird that arrives. After a bit she shoos the bird off again and reaches into her robe and extracts a spyglass. She offers it to Donato first. "Wanna take a look?"

Kalana and Mathias (The Helm) Julak chuckles. "You're welcome to stay with us as long as you want, G-Man. As for your quarry, if you can give more information on him, I can put out the word to my fellow captains and we might be able to find out where he's hiding. Of course, this is all assuming you don't mind working alongside a bunch of lawless vigilantes. We don't operate within the confines of the law, and sometimes break it outright to do what needs to be done. We don't go by the book; in fact, there is no book for the Blue Lightning. This isn't the navy, by any means. Think you'll be okay with that?"
Jaeron (Main Mast) Jaeron heads for the main mast and waits underneath it while Varil continues inspecting the rigging. After a few moments, she climbs down, and drops the last few feet, landing nearby. "Morning, Jaeron. How is it going today?" she asks absently, as she jots down some notes on some parchment with a small piece of charcoal.
Arieal (Crow's Nest) Donato breaks his gaze away when his eyes meet hers, and he scratches the back of his head. "Uh, no, nothing so far. Pretty clear day," he says, looking off into the horizon. It is sunny and clear, with no sign of storms or danger anywhere in sight.
"Oh, uh, thanks," he says, accepting the spyglass. He puts it up to his eye and glances around the area with it.

Kalana stares down at Mathias as he gives his little speech about joining the crew before she laughs and pats the dwarf on the shoulder. "That could have be said with a lot less words," she says in amusement before she looks at Julak. "We just had this conversation in the mess," she mentions. "It seems he kind of likes us."

After minutes Senllips find himself all alone guessing he was daydreaming. "Wohoho... jumpy fellows. I must go with them so they won't get messed with something they can't handle." He quickly climbs to the deck but there he sees they had spread on different directions. 'Oh... Here is Julak, It would be only nice of me to go and say hello.' He approaches the captain, saying a quick "Hi! Nice day! Is there anything interesting planned for today? Do you need me to look at your maps and figure where are we?" He suggests, only trying to be helpful as without him they will probably all be lost.

Jaeron greets Varil "Good morning. I'm well how are you Varil?" the gnome asks while watching Varil work. "Might I offer any assistance to you?"

Finally he says, "I'd be lyin' if I said it sat right with me, and I'd much prefer it were otherwise...but I can accept it. I know things work much differently out on the open sea, and I know this ain't the navy. So long as this crew's efforts are aimed at bringin' justice to them thievin', murderous pirates what would otherwise escape it, I'll concede that some allowances must be made." Julak chuckles. "You're welcome to stay with us as long as you want, G-Man. As for your quarry, if you can give more information on him, I can put out the word to my fellow captains and we might be able to find out where he's hiding. "I'll tell ya what I know, but I'm afraid it ain't much. The one I seek's a tall, lanky man -- human, with jet black hair and a long, drooping mustache, but no beard. Been sailin' under the Guild's flag about two years now, and as near as I can tell he's been sellin' secrets to the League of Freedom the whole time. Goes by the name of Pierre Delacroix, but I'm assumin' that's an alias. Pretty sure he's originally from Picardie...and that's all I know, so far." Kalana stares down at Mathias as he gives his little speech about joining the crew before she laughs and pats the dwarf on the shoulder. "That could have be said with a lot less words," she says in amusement before she looks at Julak. Mathias scowls at her, grunting. "I'm usually a dwarf of few words," he says. "But this is a complicated matter, an' me an' the Captain don't know each other too well...so I figured there was call for a few extra, to lay it all out plainly."

Arieal allows Donato to view through her spyglass for a bit before taking a look herself. She scans the horizon before checking outs the sea closer to the ship. After a bit she declares. "Seems as if we are in for a quiet day."
OOC: famous last last words I'm sure.

Kalana, Senllip and Mathias (The Helm) "Currently, we're on route to Tu'Valie," Julak tells Senllip. "Going to restock and resupply, and maybe get a little R&R while we're at it. I'm sure the crew could use it soon."
He looks to his first mate. "Pierre Delacroix...ring any bells for you?"
Toven shakes his head. "I'm afraid not, sir."
"Yeah...does sound kind of made up. I'll put out the word, though. If anyone is seen with that name, matching that description, by another member of the Blue Lightning, it will get back to me. It may take time, though," Julak tells Mathias.
Jaeron (Main Mast) "Good enough," Varil says, scribbling down some notes. "Just working out some calculations. You know anything about magical propulsion systems? Legends say they were all the rage back in Eonia, but that sort of technology was lost after the Carnage War. Supposedly, they let you pilot ships without rowing or sails. There were even ships that sailed in the air, instead of the sea. It really makes you realize how far we have to go before we catch up with them, doesn't it?"
Arieal (Crow's Nest) "Looks like," Donato agrees. "Ever since the Poison Curse disappeared, there haven't been any serious pirate activity in these parts. Minor hit and runs, but nothing on that level."
As Arieal looks around with her spyglass, she spots a lone seagull approaching the ship. There looks to be a message tied to its leg, indicating this is a messenger gull. A few moments later, it lands right on the crow nest's lip, then cocks its head and looks at the pair expectantly.

Arieal digs for a little treat before reaching out in retrieving the message. After rewarding the gull, she unrolls the message and reads it.

"All right," Kalana says. "I guess that makes some sense."
"Oh, a little R&R is definitely needed," she admits to Julak. At least, it was needed for her.
