I thought it would be useful to have a thread dedicated to the site itself, it's updates, announcements, and so forth.
First, if you haven't already noticed or didn't see it in the Shooting the Breeze thread, the site was made ad free on the 1st. Hopefully I can keep it that way.
Second, it was brought to my attention that whispers could be made visible by quoting the post they were in. I updated the whisper plugin to the latest version, which now encrypts the whispers so this is no longer a problem. However...as a result, the dice command no longer works in whispers. The two plugins are not native to the site and both were created by separate people; they were not actually designed to work together.
I'm not sure how I plan to work around this just yet. But in the meantime, I found a way to enable dice rolls in PMs. So there is that.

So, not the greatest start to the new year. Pageviews and posting rate are way down in the past couple of months. Several players have been missing for weeks now. The place is drying up a bit.
Here's my plan to get things running again. Doom of Daggerdale will be ending soon, and a new module will be chosen to replace it in Module Matinee. At that point, I'll recruit off-site to replenish its members and bring in some new people to the site. Likewise, once Tower of Wayreth is ready to go, I'll use it as an opportunity to bring in more people, as well. For every new person brought in, there's a chance they might start their own game, too, which might bring in more people, and so on.
My hope is, that by the end of spring, things will have returned to the level of activity we were at a few months ago, if not better.

I did advertise the site on the old school D&D edition google community I founded a few years ago. However it drew some guest activity doesn't appear it brought any new members to join.

Yeah, I've noticed it's gotten awfully quiet around here recently. The fact that the last few months of 2017 had more-or-less everyone in the Gontoria game posting on a regular basis probably makes it seem all the more dramatic. I'm still struggling to come to terms with Jherek Everfull's recent vanishing act -- I totally wasn't expecting that, especially after the game he'd (presumably?) put so much time into preparing was just finding its legs. I wish you the best of luck with the recruitment endeavor. Don't have the time to run a game myself at present, but someday...

I appreciate any advertising. I just need to get some new games up and running so that new people showing up have a game to join. That's also why I'm teaching myself 5E, so I have something to offer other than nigh 30 year old version of D&D.
As for Jherek, yeah, but you never know. He might come back. I once had a guy join my game, and then vanish for two whole years. Then he came back out of the blue and asked to rejoin. Of course, he then disappeared again after that, but...the point is, you never know. Jherek's only been gone two weeks now. There are others who have been missing longer than that (Dram and Breila). So we'll see what happens.

Well, I'm definitely still here. I haven't been posting as often, because my parents say that I'm no longer allowed to use my iPad after dinner (which is when I usually post), but rest assured, I have not died, or worse, lost interest in D&D.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but due to a recent Proboard update, spoilers stopped working a few days ago. Clicking on the spoiler did nothing. I've updated the spoiler plugin to the latest version, and they seem to work now again.

So a few months later, and it turns out all of my predictions for spring were wrong. Doom of Daggerdale has not ended, Tower of Wayreth is not ready, and posting rate is still in decline (albeit, not quite as sharply).
Here's the new plan. First, all upcoming games by me (Wayreth, Crizzara, Tronca) are going to be put on hold indefinitely until I can get the population up a bit. Even if these games were ready to go now, I doubt I could recruit anyone into them at the moment anyway with our current level of activity.
Module Matinee is going to be split into two. One will run old 2E modules, and the other will run new 5E modules. So when Daggerdale does end, I'll replace it with another 2E module (and use it as an opportunity to recruit more people) and likewise when Phandelver ends, I'll replace it with another 5E module, also recruiting more. The only new games I'm going to start are modules until I can boost posting activity enough to sustain additional games. And this way I can bring in old school and new school gamers alike, which will hopefully increase game diversity a bit, as well.
(I am currently considering starting up additional modules, and running them parallel to the current ones. I'm just not sure if I'll be wearing myself too thin if I do.)
Stours Run has been dead since March, so I went ahead and archived it.

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to let you all know, that starting Monday, my work schedule is changing. I will be leaving work a few hours later in the day, which means my daily posts will be made later in the day, as well. I'm still going to make them. My posting rate won't be affected at all. The posts will just appear later than most of you are used to.

Fall Update for 2018:
Things are starting to look up again. We have three new members, with possibly two more on the way, and traffic is a bit up as a result. (In August, we averaged about 18.7 posts a day, compared to July's 15.3.)
No new games planned for the fall; for now (at least, not by me; but as always everyone is encouraged to start their own games if they wish), I'm working on getting the population of the current games back up to normal, and so far it seems to be working.

Status update:
September - 26.8 posts a day October - 17.2 posts a day November - 16.7 posts a day
We sort of did amazing there in September, but activity has been dropping off since then and it looks like December's activity is even lower (we're only a little over half-way through the month, but so far we're averaging around 11 posts a day).
Some of this is due to the holidays keeping everyone busy. Which means, hopefully, activity will start to swing back in the other direction come January. My hope is to start re-recruiting soon for all of my games to bring in more people (I'm thinking I'd like to bring in at least 2-3 people in each of my games, depending on the situation). And Past Glory will, when it's ready, hopefully bring in even more.
I'm optimistic about 2019. I think it will be a good year for this site.

When you recruit for new games are you planning on recruiting on-site as well?

It depends on how many (or how few) new people I can bring in. My main goal is to increase traffic for now. The more people playing here, the more likely one of them will start up a game of their own. Why, were you interested in Past Glory?

Yes, but I gather you're a month in at this point aren't you?
