Phandalin Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Population: 250 (humans 65%, dwarves 10%, orcs 8%, half-orcs 5%, elves 4%, halflings 4%, gnomes 2%, half-elves 1%, other 1%) Government: Elected Townmaster Religion: Tymora Trade: (Imports) Lumber, manufactured items, spices (Exports) Precious metals, iron ore
Current Year: 1481 DR Phandalin was originally a farming community. The orcs of the realm of Uruth Ukrypt ("Home of Uruth") had destroyed all game in their realm, and, in search of food, they turned on the human settlements in the area, raiding them. Phandalin was one of these settlements, and in 951 DR, it was overrun and then abandoned.
In the last three or four years, settlers from Neverwinter and Waterdeep had resettled the ruins of Phandalin.
Phandalin has no functioning government, however, the townsfolk annually elect a townsmaster. The townsmaster serves as a judge and mediator, and also keeps the records that need to be kept.

He hired the party to look into some rumors of undead sightings over at the Old Owl Well outside of town. Linene Graywind (Female Human Merchant) - A sharp-tongued woman of thirty-five who runs the Lionshield Coster. This building is owned by the Lionshields, a merchant company based in the city of Yartar, over a hundred miles to the east. Harbin Wester (Male Human Townmaster) - Harbin is a rotund and pompous old banker who is the current townmaster of Phandalin, having won the previous election. He is completely cowed by the Redbrands, claiming they are just a mercenary guild and not much trouble. Most of his constitutes disagree.
