Ladonna, Katya and Lillian (Buho Inn, Common Room)
"That's good," Rebekah says. "I'm sure she appreciates having a friend like you to rely upon."
In the distance, the church bell rings, signaling it is now 10 AM. The festival is now officially open to the public, so people begin paying their tabs, finishing off their food and drink, and dispersing out to the inn to head to the village square.

"Rebekah, do you mind speaking with me just a little bit in private before going to the festival?" Ladonna asks.

Judy, Ryan's mother who is sitting with him, beats the acolyte to the punch by giving her own answer. "A priest of Gonto cannot tell a lie, so there's no reason to doubt Kohen Rorak if he says he can," she says. "But it is possible, I've seen it before. My husband can do it; it's very useful for interrogating infidels. In fact, I've heard stories of even stronger spells than that. They also say the paladins of Gonto can immediately sense when someone speaks a lie, even without a spell." "That's, um, great. Praise Gonto! Those infidels sure are gonna get what's coming to 'em," Theron says, trying hard to inflect the words the way that someone who actually meant them would. He looks as though he's about to say something else, but just then the bells ring signalling the commencement of the festival proper. Grinning, Theron hurriedly drains his beer and flips the mug upside down before standing. "It was pleasant chatting with you two! I'll see you out at the festival, I trust!" He loses himself in the crowd of moving people, but instead of going with the flow of bodies towards the exit, he makes his way to the staircase instead. At the foot of the stairs, he surreptitiously glances behind him to see if anyone is paying attention, then creeps up to the inn's second floor.

Ladonna, Katya and Lillian (Buho Inn, Common Room) "Of course," Rebekah replies. "We can speak at the tavern. It's closed, so there's privacy there. Excuse us." The two file out with the rest of the villagers, and head for the Lonely Pony. Once inside, Rebekah asks, "What is it?" Theronymous P. Wiggledigit (Buho Inn, Second Floor Hall) While everyone else is leaving the inn, Theron heads upstairs to the second floor hallway. On each side of the hall are the inn room doors. There is nobody else up here at the moment.

"It's been pleasant chatting. Hopefully I'll see you around the festival." Katya bids the others at her table farewell and makes her way out to the festival with the others. She won't beeline for then, but if a moment to speak with either Finbul or Garnet materializes she will stop to chat.

Ladonna walks alongside Rebekah to the tavern, and then finally speaks to her once inside. "Is this new prayer that the Kohen has going to affect any of us?" Ladonna asks. "We are all pretty good at hiding that we are mages, but this does raise some concerns for me, you, and Liala."

Theron pauses as soon as he enters the hallway, listening for any clue that someone might have spotted his ascent and followed him up the stairs. When he doesn't hear any tell-tale creaks emitting from the staircase, he turns and surveys the layout of the second floor for a few moments and attempts to orient himself.
Once he feels like he knows what he's looking for, he walks up to the door of the room that the merchant Stenn had stayed in, not so long ago. Theron puts his ear up to the door to listen for any sign of inhabitants, then gives a faint knock and a falsetto "Housekeeping!" before trying to enter. If the door is locked, he'll attempt to pick it.

Ladonna Marche (Lonely Pony Tavern, Common Room) "It's troubling...but not too big of a concern," Rebekah answers. "As long as nobody has reason to question us, there is no reason we would ever be interrogated while under the spell's effects. Besides, the spell in question is of the Charm school, so you especially would be resistant to its effects." Ryan and Lillian (Buho Inn, Common Room) Everyone files out of the inn, leaving Ryan and Lillian on their own.
Theronymous P. Wiggledigit (Buho Inn, Second Floor Hall) There is no reply at Theron's knock. Likely whoever is staying in this room today is at the festival now. The room is locked, however. In all likelihood, all of them are.
Katya (Village Square) The village square has been decorated for the festival with streamers, ribbons and flags all bearing autumn colors of red and gold. There are a number of contests being set up, including a fishing contest, an archery contest, a wrestling contest, a drinking contest, a music contest and a trivia contest. There is also a grange display, where anyone can enter something they created or crafted to win a prize. Not to mention numerous vendor stands that sell food, drink and little knickknack souvenirs for the tourists. Glancing around the crowds, Katya spots Garnet with Dawn Tenhammer, Ingot's mother. Dawn is speaking with Garnet, who keeps shrinking into herself. Finbul, meanwhile, is with Calvin Kippes, the local woodcutter. They appear to be having some kind of argument.

Katya wanders through the crowds to Garnet and Dawn. She smiles and announces herself with a warm "Good morning Acolyte. Ms. Tenhammer. It's a beautiful day for a festival."

Theron withdraws his lockpicks from one of his pouches and attempts to gain entry to the room.

"That is good to know," Ladonna admits. "But I am also a little concerned about Liala. She seems very determined, especially after that thing with Marcus earlier, to change herself into a human," she says. "Is that really a possibility?"

Ladonna Marche (Lonely Pony Tavern, Common Room) "Ah, so that was what the spat was about," Rebekah says. "Liala's always been that way. She's obsessed with becoming human. As for whether she can do it or not...yes. But it would take magic stronger than even I am capable of doing. At least, changing her permanently, anyway. That new spell you learned from the goblin sorcerer would do the trick, but only for a few minutes." Theronymous P. Wiggledigit (Buho Inn, Second Floor Hall)Theron does his best, but the lock is just beyond his ability to pick. It completely stumps him. Katya (Village Square)As Katya approaches Dawn and Garnet, she hears the tail end of their conversation. "--about money, we have coin. I will happily pay whatever you ask," Dawn pleads. "I...I'm sorry...I...it's not something I can just...make happen," Garnet says, shifting her weight from foot to foot anxiously. "It just...comes to me." "Ah, good morning," Dawn Tenhammer replies, perhaps a tad curtly for being interrupted. Dawn is a human woman in her early thirties with black hair, blue eyes and fair skin. She helps her husband and son in the smithy, and often volunteers for the church, but she usually isn't the most social person around, so Katya has not interacted with her often in the past. "Acolyte Glun and I were just having a private conversation..."

"Well, it seems the only way to comfort her was to tell her that the next time, if there is a next time, we leave the city, that I'll bring her along so that she can gain some experience and grow stronger," Ladonna explains. "But a part of me wants to try to convince her not to change who she is. I know that the many races in this town have it bad, but do the elves have it that bad too?" she asks.

"Rats!" Theron whispers in consternation. He puts away his tools and skulks down the stairs before joining the other stragglers in heading to the festival.

"I'm sorry to have interrupted" Katya inclines her head politely towards Dawn. "Just making sure everything is okay." Though she keeps her body pointed towards Mrs. Tenhammer she adjusts her posture slightly, at that last part, towards Garnet - a subtle invitation to the Acolyte to say something if anything wasn't okay.
