Jaeron sighs "Yes I found the place but I must admit I was a bit upset I thought it would be much more like a library I was used to back home. It was better than I had expected though, just not exactly the type of library I'd have pictured. Same can be said for the museums."

"According to the people you interviewed, is the villain beyond redemption?" Kalana asks.

Kalana Ioane (House of Illusion) "Redemption?" the playwright repeats. "Well, people love a good redemptive story, but considering the horrible things she did, it's hard to imagine what she could possibly do to make up for them, at least as far as the people of Shadowshore are concerned. I mean, you said you were from there, right? So you know better than I do. Tell me, what was life like under the oppressive regime for you? Did the Villain execute any of your own loved ones?"
Jaeron Dernfog (Queen of Harts) Samwen nods. "Oh, that's a good point I hadn't really thought of. I suppose if you are not accustomed to magic and how it works, our library would seem very strange and alien, indeed. Sorcery is incorporated into our daily lives here in Tu'Valie. I think most of us tend to take it for granted."

Jaeron nods while eating and listening "You have a point, I am sure if I were here regularly it would be less foreign to me."

"No," Kalana says with a shake of her head. "I'm sorry, but I don't think I'm going to be of much help to your story," she adds. "It is just that you have been to Shadowshore, so I was curious about how things were going on there now," she explains. "And I was curious as to why you killed off her ex-husband in the story, but you pretty much answered that question. What happens if the villain ever catches wind that you are putting on a show about her?" she asks.

Kalana Ioane (House of Illusion) "I'm not worried about her," the playwright says. "I'm not saying anything that isn't true, and besides, she doesn't have an oppressive government regime backing her up this time." She packs up her notes and stands. "If you'll excuse me, I have to get ready for today's shows now."
Jaeron Dernfog (Queen of Harts) "Where are you from then?" Samwen asks as they finish up their meal and drinks. "I've always lived on this island, myself."

Jaeron replies to Samwen "I hail from Vaneil. Have you ever visited Vaneil?"

Kalana bows her head, and leaves the woman so she can prepare for her show. She isn't in the mood to really do much else at this point, so she heads back to the ship after taking a few casual sips from her flask.

Kalana and Johannas (Upper deck of the Tiaru)Kalana returns to the Tiaru without incident. Upon boarding, she spots Johannas and Toven up on the forecastle, speaking. Setra, escorting a young half-elven man from below decks, brings him up to them. The half-elf is tied up, strangely enough.
Jaeron Dernfog (Queen of Harts)"I have, once," Samwen answers. "When I started my training as a cleric of Gonto. There was no temple here yet, so I had to go to Vaneil instead. Specifically, Paradise City. I didn't realize once my training was over, they'd send me back to Tu'Valie. But I guess they felt the best person to run a temple here was a local."

Jaeron finishes his meal and nods as Samwen tells his tale "That does make some sense a local would know best you'd think. Granted you would also know the challenges of your homeland as well. Hopefully you can find a way to draw others like you and me in while here I'll join you in your morning prayer if you don't mind it. Now this was a nice meal don't you think?"

Kalana furrows her brow a bit as she takes in the scene before she finally joins the group of them. "What's going on?" she asks curiously.

Kalana and Johannas (Upper deck of the Tiaru) "A long story," Toven answers. "Mathias was attacked by thieves, and took one of them as a slave and brought him aboard the ship, so we're kicking him off. Johannas here has volunteered to turn the thief in to the authorities."
Jaeron Dernfog (Queen of Harts) "Oh, it was a very nice meal, indeed," Samwen agrees. "Uh...so did you want to pay separate checks or...?" he trails off, awkwardly as the two head up front to pay for the food.

Jaeron smiles kindly "I wouldn't dream of having you pay you are my guest. I'll cover the payment for both meals. Perhaps if you have time you might give me a quick tour of your homeland."

"....Why would he think it was a good idea to make someone a slave after being attacked like that?" Kalana asks in shock.

Johannes shrugs in response. “People often do rash things when motivated by vengeance or greed...and this was by a bit of both.”
