"The Gibney boy? Strange. Then where's the real Uchdryd? I'll dispatch someone down to the Gibney farm to investigate," Derica says. "For now, you all might as well return home and get some rest. I'll take care of the rest of this."

Ladonna nods to Ser Walls, and starts to make her way back home. After almost dying, she needed some rest.

Lillian makes her way home, having a whispered conversation on their changes to the timeline on the way. That night, she ponders on their “adventure” as she tries to fall asleep. They may have saved Buho from Ghalt’s disease, but what repercussions would their actions in the past cause? Ladonna inadvertently split her family apart just by talking with her mother, so what else could’ve been affected? And what of the Ghalt that they followed to the past? When he was captured-
Wait...was he ever captured?
Lillian jolts awake, jumps out of bed, and grabs a spare sheet of paper. Even if Ghalt WAS imprisoned, there’s no telling what his fate was. And was the Ghalt they faced today from the present or the future?...past? Things needed to be collected, put in one place so that they could have a glimmer of understanding of he situation. She dipped her quill into her inkwell and started writing.
Had she owned either of those in the original timeline? No matter.

The party got some rest and tried to deal with their new reality (save Katya, who as far as she knows, nothing has changed). Ladonna's life was the most affected, as her family is now gone. Her father is an unemployed, drunken disgrace, her mother has left for Hart, and her little sister was never born to begin with. Lillian's is not really affected at all, which comes with the territory of having no friends or family.
The following day, nobody becomes ill. However, Derica sends a member of the watch to the Gibney farm, and finds the entire family--including Uchdryd, is dead. Investigating finds they have been dead for weeks, and were clearly murdered violently. The doppelganger has apparently been using their home (and their forms) as a way of infiltrating the town and learning more about its inhabitants.
The doppelganger himself has two items confiscated from him. One is a strange, blue statuette of a bird figure. The other is a holy icon of Crizza. Both were enchanted and deemed dangerous, so were destroyed by the kohen. (Worth noting, the holy icon seemed to obscure Ghalt's aura from Katya. Before it was taken, she was unable to read him at all; as if he was an inanimate object. Once the icon was taken from him, she could easily read him as Evil.) Katya visited the doppelganger under the pretense of asking him to repent. Ghalt had no interest in that, however. Mostly he just ranted and raved about overthrowing authority and bringing the freedom of anarchy to the people. He said something about a magical disease that would have cleansed the land of all nobles, priests and guardsmen. It didn't take long for him to be found guilty of blasphemy and murder, and he was quickly executed after that.
Because the party never told anyone about their adventure in the past, nobody knew that they had actually saved the town from a terrible plague. All they knew was that, mostly through dumb luck, the party had stumbled upon the doppelganger before he could commit the atrocity. None of them had any idea how close they had come to complete destruction.
Meanwhile, Lillian took special care to document everything in writing in secret, just in case.

End Chapter 7!
