I've never had a player turn in a character that described their personality with an anime term, so congrats on being the first there, Horizons. All I need now is her history. Sure, that's fine by me.
I've always ruled that clerical scrolls can be read by anyone who can use them, but wizardly scrolls often require Read Magic to unlock them. Identify is needed to identify magical items (although a bard's Legend Lore skill can be used instead), but I'll often let potions, wands, and protection scrolls can be identified with a spellcraft check.
Like with Grognak's animal follower, I'd say it will be better for your squire to appear after your character has been freed. We can say your last squire died when or before you were captured, and that was conveniently two levels ago.

I've never had a player turn in a character that described their personality with an anime term, For half a second I was indignant because I totally described Mas'erin as being a bishi but then I remembered that A) that wasn't your game, and B) that's technically describing his appearance, not his personality. So your statement stands unchallenged.

History Ravarie was born from the union of Dendrane and Conaire of the Phoenix Wing Tribe, a small but very spiritual tribe within the forests of Southern Ergoth. The birth of a new tribe member was always a day to be celebrated, but Ravarie was special, or at least she was in the eyes of her tribe. She was born in the month of the Phoenix, and on that very day, a blue feather happened to float down, seemingly from the heavens, and land on her little forehead. Naturally, her parents were thrilled that they had given birth to a child that was chosen by the The Blue Phoenix. They, along with the rest of her tribe, knew that Ravarie was born the sole purpose to help the tribe.
As soon as Ravarie was old enough, she began her training as a druid. Of course, at the time, the Gods had yet to return to Kyrnn, so Ravarie didn't have any of the magical power that went along with being a druit. As a result, Ravarie actually started spending a lot of time with the various animals she was tasked to take care of. She, even in her more younger years, didn't feel the pressure of being "chosen" when she was with animals. The animals didn't put any pressure on her at all. They didn't make demands on her time. They didn't look up at her, expecting her to do something marvelous for the good of her tribe. In short, animals were relaxing whereas her tribe was the exact opposite.
Despite the pressure that was placed upon her, Ravarie stuck with it. Sadly, due to her "chosen" one status that was placed upon her at birth, she didn't have a lot of friends. She, in her younger years, always held on to some idealistic hope that someone would be able to look past the "chosen" aspect in her life, and actually get to know her. Her tribe was small though. Most of the kids her age knew of her history, so many were hesitant to get close to Ravarie. There were a few that were down right jealous of her special treatment (which lead to bullying), and there were always those ambitious people that simply wanted to use Ravarie to raise their own status.
Ravarie's idealistic phase lasted for a little over a century before she finally had enough of her tribe's crap. She resented many within her tribe, including her own parents for putting so much pressure on her shoulders, especially at such a young age. she lacked friendships because eventually her "chosen" status got in the way. This meant that she ended up hurt. She was even distrustful of some members of her own tribe because she had been used over and over again by those that wanted to be associated with the "chosen" one. Anyone that was super nice to her was suspect in her eyes, so she finally decided that she needed to get away from it all.
Luckily, due to her training as a druid, Ravarie didn't have a problem living out in the wilderness by herself. Every once in awhile, her father would mother would stumble upon her if they were out hunting for the tribe, and beg her to return. They would make promises that things were changing. The tribe wouldn't put as much pressure on her anymore. People wouldn't use her because of her status. Though, being an elf, she knew that elves were very slow to change, so she knew that all of those promises were empty. Things hadn't changed at all. The tribe just wanted their prize back (and she knew that her parents simply wanted her daughter back). With each meeting though, she refused to go back to her tribe, and she moved her camp a little further away until she had basically isolated herself away from everyone.
Ravarie spent 40 years living a lot like a hermit. She didn't really know what was going on in the world because she didn't have contact with people. As a result, it came as a complete surprise when she was trying to help an injured animal, that she was able to heal the animal by simply praying (admittedly she was praying really hard) and laying her hands upon the creature. Despite the fact that she had left her tribe, she still managed to keep her faith strong, but within her 140 years, The Blue Phoenix had never answered her prayers before. She had the urge to go back to her people to ask them what was going on, but she ultimately decided that the Blue Phoenix had finally answered her because she had been faithful all of these long years, and He was finally reaching out.
More surprises ere in store for Ravarie. Just a few short months after actually gaining power, light skinned elves stumbled upon her camp. She knew of her cousins, the Silvanesti and Qualinesti, but she was pretty sure they lived across the sea in a completely different land. What were they doing in her homeland? She soon learned that the Silvanesti were there to take over, so as a result she felt the need to try to defend her home as they were trying to force her out simply because she was a "lesser" elf in their eyes. Sadly, her burst of resistance didn't do much as she was completely outnumbered. The Silvanesti captured Ravarie and turned her into a slave for their people.
Ravarie had spent 40 years on her own, so being forced back into civilization was an adjustment. She also didn't take to being ordered around by her cousin elves either. Who did they think they were? She was always fighting back against her masters, which always resulted in punishment of varying degrees. Over the eight years she spent as a slave of the Silvanesti, she had at least five different masters due to her resistance. Only one of her masters was kind, while the others were less than kind.
As mentioned, it took eight years before Ravarie was busted out of slavery by the Young Bloods. The Young Bloods were a group of Qualinesti who didn't like the way their cousins were treating their Kagnonesti cousins. She had heard of them before within her time as a slave as many of her fellow slaves spoke about them, but her experience with them was not quite what she expected. They did act like heroes, saving the slaves, but they didn't really know what to do with the freed slaves after saving them. The group of Young Bloods that saved Ravarie's group basically saved them and then set them off on their own. Ravarie knew she could handle herself on her own, but many of her other fellow slaves could not, which she knew meant that many of them were simply going to be captured again.
Freedom was everything Ravarie remembered it to be, but it was short lived. she was sure that the Silvanesti wouldn't be able to capture her again, but she didn't take into account the ogres. She had only been on her own for a few months when a scouting ogre party came across her while she was drinking water from a stream. Much like her fight with the Silvanesti, she was overpowered and taken to the gladiator pits as a slave again.

==============
As an elf, Ravarie is not well liked among the audience and is treated as something of a 'heel.' People show up to see her hopefully get killed, but she's continued to disappoint them for the past year and a half.
Her master, Bulbos, is fairly indifferent toward him (reaction score of 10). As long as he continues to fight well and make him money, the ogre is content.
After going through his backstory, she'll start the game with 2 points of favor from Habbakuk (one for being a druid and one for being a beastfriend).
As far as factions go, they will all start Indifferent towards her, save the Ogres, Silvanesti and Qualinesti, who will be Cautious toward her.
Well, that's four down and one to go.

We aren't ogres. What else could we be?
In other news, progress is slow but steady on my character. I just need to get the ideas in my head down on "paper". Maybe this evening, but hopefully tomorrow at the latest.

I’m not as sure about Runt Runt is big, and doesn't particularly care about putting on a show during a fight. The Audience probably appreciates the utilitarian brutality inherent in beating someone to death with a club, but he fits very well as a no-nonsense heel. At least we're not Jobbers.

Hey, guess what, Sir Placeholder now has a name and a background. I expect I'll be able to finagle a personality some time tomorrow as well, as well as a proper description of his appearance.
Name: Dorias Mar-Quon Appearance: Height 5'7", Weight 135 lbs.
Dorias is graceful yet strong, and his features combine the best of elf and Ergothian. A full head of dark brown curls and a neatly trimmed goatee frame strong, chiselled features and an impressive aquiline nose, but his clear blue eyes are easily his most arresting feature. Despite his warlike profession, Dorias' face is largely unblemished, but the same cannot be said for the rest of him. Scars and bruises from both battle and beatings administered by the ogres cover his chest, back and limbs, and though he pretends otherwise, he knows that the injuries he has sustained have taken a terrible toll on his health.
Personality: Kindly, well-mannered, and instinctively chivalrous, Dorias has seen the face of war and witnessed good friends being butchered in the arena, but still retains his belief that true love and the honest pursuit of happiness can conquer the ills of the world. He seeks to set an example for others to follow. In the arena he conducts himself with dignity and gallantry, no matter who his foe is. In the slave barracks he constantly strives to lift the spirits of his fellow captives, offering encouragement, support and entertainment to all.
For this, he has been severely punished by his captors, but Dorias will not relent. He laughs off the scars and broken bones, composes an insulting poem or ditty, and stoically readies himself for the next fight. He is determined that one day he will be free to return to his wandering ways, savouring the whirlwind carousel of romance and performing daring deeds for love and glory. Either that, or he will be dead, a prospect that saddens him but in no way frightens him - a man must have the courage of his convictions, or he is no man at all.
Background: Dorias was born in 330 AC, the third son of Kanira Mar-Quon, a successful merchant from Zhea Harbor, and her Qualinesti lover Nethas. Although they never married and neither would relocate to the other's homeland, Kanira and Nethas enjoyed a long and loving relationship. Kanira was often at sea, so Dorias and his brothers were largely raised in the household of their uncle Kuril, but they visited Qualinesti often enough to forge a good relationship with their father as well. The Mar-Quons are an influential family among the humans of Southern Ergoth - they have been landed nobility since the days of the Empire and remain one of the leading powers in Zhea Harbor. They also retain strong links with Northern Ergoth and it's traditional for at least one son in each generation to become a Cavalier in the service of the Emperor of Ergoth. Inspired by the history of his family, young Dorias made it his life's goal to join the ranks of the Cavaliers. When the War of the Lance broke out, he had just turned eighteen and had been a squire for two years. He had proven his bravery in several skirmishes with ogre raiding bands, and showed great promise with lance and sword, but it was also clear that Dorias preferred the sport of a good tournament to real warfare. Nevertheless, when the Emperor of Ergoth joined the Whitestone Council and called for volunteers to bring the fight to the Dragonarmies, Dorias didn't hesitate to join the muster. Honour demanded it, but his will was also hardened by the news that his father had been killed protecting the retreat of the Qualinesti elves. Over the next two years, Dorias fought bravely alongside the Knights of Solamnia as they struggled to defeat the invaders. His mother and his brothers also joined the fight. Kanira placed her ships at the Emperor's disposal, using them as privateers and to transport troops and supplies to the mainland. His brothers served as captains in her fleet. The war proved savage, with much heroism but little glory, and the Mar-Quons endured further loss before it was over. Dorias survived, and for his deeds he was knighted by his master on the field of battle, but Kanira and her eldest son died when a dragon sank their ships. Returning home, Dorias and his brother dealt with their grief as best they could. His brother inherited Kanira's business and immersed himself in trade. Dorias took up errantry, wandering Northern and Southern Ergoth in search of adventure and innocents to protect. His wanderings ended abruptly two years ago. At the behest of his uncle Kuril, Dorias had returned to Zhea Harbor to escort his cousin Zanya to Caeltigoth, where she was to marry a young Solamnic nobleman, but as they sailed into Morgash Bay, an unseasonable storm swept down on their ship. Driven off course, they foundered near Daltigoth, and as the survivors came ashore they were set upon by a patrol of ogres. Dorias and the surviving guards fought furiously to allow Zanya to escape, and they were successful in preventing her immediate capture, but Dorias never learned if she was able to make it back to human lands. As soon as his cousin was safely away, Dorias surrendered, hoping to use his well-honed powers of persuasion to achieve some sort of clemency for the rest of the survivors. He was somewhat successful in that most of them were taken captive to be sold as slaves, but the worst injured were butchered before his eyes and ended up in the stew pot. Thanks to his display of fighting prowess, Dorias found himself sold to an ogre named Bulbos, and for the past two years he has had to fight for his life in Daltigoth's arena again and again.

Forgot to roll for starting spells! I'll let the results decide whether I also want to roll percentile dice to learn some more spells.
TJMoGCnL2d4
I'll make that 4 1st-level spells and 3 2nd-level spells.
Level 1: Audible Glamer, Detect Magic, Enlarge, Read Magic
Level 2: Improved Phantasmal Force, Mirror Image, Strength
I'll probably roll for a couple of more spells before the game begins, I just haven't decided which ones yet.

==============
As an Ergothian and a half-elf, many of the audience see Dorias as an enemy of the state and show up to see him get his comeuppance for his country's crimes against the ogres. But the relentless gallant continues to survive bout after bout, even earning some respect and a few fans (particularly from female ogres).
However, his master, Bolbus, rather likes him (reaction score 5). Not only does he bring in the crowds, but Bolbus rather enjoys his poems (particularly the cruder limericks.)
After going through his backstory, he'll start the game with 2 points of favor from Branchala (for becoming a Gallant and taking up errantry), 2 points from Kiri-Jolith (for joining the Cavaliers and fighting in the war), and 1 point from Paladine (for sacrificing his own freedom to save his cousin).
As far as factions go, they will all start Indifferent towards him, save the Ogres (who are Cautious) and the Ergothians (who are Friendly).
Well, that's everyone then. What say we start up chapter one tomorrow? Everyone ready?
