There are lots of elements in Tyranny of Dragons that won't exist yet in Past Glory, like mystics, primal sorcerers, the Knights of Takhisis, the Legion of Steel, and dragonspawn, to name a few. Ooh, maybe you can play one of Caelin's grandparents. Just don't die and cause a time paradox! As far as stats go, yeah, they pretty much never increase in 2E (without magic, anyway), but they also don't mean as much, either. Heck, the example character the PHB gives has stats of 8, 14, 13, 13, 7, 6 and this is presented as being perfectly normal. In fact, by default core rules, the standard method of rolling up characters is 3d6, down the line (no arrangement), so with the 4d6 method, your characters are actually stronger than normal. Not that the core rules matter much anyway, because I've house ruled them to the point of being unrecognizable. Anywho, I went ahead and added you to the group, so you can go ahead and roll in the Character Creation thread.

Reopening this game to new players, if anyone is interested. I've updated the pitch and 16 questions below: This is a 2nd Edition AD&D game set in the world of Dragonlance, on the continent of Ansalon. It takes place ten years after the War of the Lance, in 360 AC, focused entirely on the island of Southern Ergoth. Once, the Ergoth Empire was the largest human empire in Ansalon. But that all changed when the gods, angry at man's hubris, threw a fiery mountain into the city of Istar, shattering the continent in the process. Ergoth was not only suddenly cut off from the mainland, it was split into two large islands. Northern Ergoth, where what remains of the Empire reside to this day, and Southern Ergoth, which was all but abandoned and later claimed by ogres. Meanwhile, the Kagonesti (Wild Elves) made a home for themselves in the southern forests of the island. But during the War of the Lance, the Silvanesti (Grey Elves) and Qualinesti (High Elves) lost their homelands and were forced to seek refuge in Southern Ergoth. Now all three elves share the land, and not without complications. In addition, the Solamnics (of the human kingdom, Solamnia) man an outpost on the island, to watch over and protect the final resting place of Huma Dragonbane, one of the most revered and famous Knights of Solamnia, and the birthplace of the legendary Dragonlances. With all of these factions, many of them opposed to each other, suffice to say Southern Ergoth is something of a chaotic place right now, even after the war has ended. The basic idea is this: The party is free to go wherever they want on Southern Ergoth and do whatever they want. It's expected, however, that they align themselves with various factions. Helping one faction sometimes comes at the cost of hurting another. The more positive reputation you build with a faction, the more welcome you are in that faction's territory (and vice versa, the more negative reputation you build, the less welcome you are). I'm looking for 2-3 new PCs to join the current group. The current group makeup is as follows: Female Kagonesti Beastfriend 7 Male Sivak Spy Human Knight of the Sword 7 Female Qualinesti Elf White Robed Mage 5 Here are the 16: 1. What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)?2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (heavily house-ruled). 2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (e.g. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)?The game is set in Dragonlance, during the Age of Despair in the year 360 AC. 3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many?I'm looking for 1-2 players. 4. How fast or slow of a pacing do you want to set? Some games require that players post once a day, every three days, or once a week.I prefer players who can post at least once a day, if possible. 5. What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)? The new PCs will begin with 35,000 XP. 6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with? The new PCs will begin with 900 STP (steel pieces). Magical items aren't for sale, but masterwork weapons and armor cost 300 STP plus their normal price. 7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes?Any classes are allowed, except for Sorcerer and Mystic, which don't exist yet (and there are no 2E versions of them anyway). If you want a kit, let me know. I allow many of them. 8. What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species?Check out the Character Creation thread here. In the very first post, it describes which races are playable and which are barred. Keep in mind that if you choose to play a more exotic race, you'll need to come up with a good justification in your backstory. 9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points? You can use Method V (4d6, drop the lowest). 10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so?You can play any alignment, just don't be a jerk to the other players. 11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it?Yes, all races can either multi-class or dual-class, if they have the stats for it. 12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them?Players can make their own rolls using the forum's dice roller, although the DM may make rolls for them from time to time for the sake of expediency. 13. Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules.Hoo-boy, there sure are. Find them here. 14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)?Yes, I'd like an appearance, personality and history. The history should include their early life, how they learned their current skill set, and what their current agenda is. 15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above?More or less a combination of them all, but being a Dragonlance game there will be more emphasis on roleplaying. 16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters?See the link posted in #13. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thinking about making a backup kender in case Kendrivel bites it? Or could this be the return of Grubnick?

I was thinking of the latter, and this isat least the third iteration of Kendrivel ( although miraculously none of them have died yet). But you know better than most my tendency to overcommit so maybe I should think on it a bit.
Any additional details on the current party makeup/ plot line?

Let's see. My War of the Lance game ended on January in 352 AC. It is now currently March of 360 AC. So Grubnick would be around 22 now, I think? A goblin becomes middle-aged at 30, so he would be the equivalent of maybe his late 30s now. Older and wiser, perhaps. He'd be level 6 now, I think. And explaining how he wound up in Southern Ergoth is pretty easy. As I recall, he was something of a wanderer anyway. And Southern Ergoth is in the grip of chaos, so seems like an ideal place to go if you want to spread the teachings of Sirrion.
As for the current party, right now the PCs consist of Ravarie, a female Kagonesti Beastfriend of Habbakuk who is on a quest to eliminate slavery from Southern Ergoth, especially that of her own people; Srill, a male Sivak Spy who has taken the form of a Knight of the Sword named Hunner and is beginning to become the mask; and our newest addition, Kori, a female Qualinesti White Robed Wizard who is super lazy and just sort of drifting along in the party's wake.
The quest right now is that the party is on a job given to them by some Solamnic Knights. A strange spectre has appeared in some nearby woods and is kiling anyone who tries to enter. This has negatively effected a lumbering town on the forest's border. As the Knights are not really great with magic/undead/supernatural, they sent the party to investigate and deal with the problem instead.

Interesting, so no Healers... and he could certainly fall in step with the quest easily enough. The other character's desire to end slavery he could certainly relate to. And that would create some chaos and promote goodness in the surrounding area, which is always something he is after

Against my better judgement {time-wise only, of course } yeah, i'm in So -> level 6 means +1d8 hp +1 3rd lvl spell slot +1 nwp slot What about gear? Anything different from his adventures over the last 8 years? Any chance he could have made use of any of magnus's gear when the dragon torched him? I seem to recall a ring and a broach I think he gave the magical bracers to Haaqque How do you feel about the 'danger sense' nwp from complete humanoid?

I seem to recall a ring and a broach I think he gave the magical bracers to Haaqque How do you feel about the 'danger sense' nwp from complete humanoid? New players start with 900 STP starting coin. So any of his old gear you want to keep, deduct its value from that total, and you can use what's left to buy new any new stuff you want. He found a ring and dagger on Tulbus and a ring, brooch, bracers, and dagger on Magnus. I actually don't remember what Tulbas' dagger was. He never figured it out before he died, and if I have it written down somewhere, I'm not sure where it is. Magnus' dagger was a dagger of frost, I think. But it doesn't matter, as Grubnick cannot use daggers anyway. So they were probably claimed by Kendra or Haahqae or someone else. Tulbus' ring was a ring of wizardry, which again, would be useless for Grubnick. Magnus' brooch was a Brooch of Shielding. Magnus' bracers were Bracers of Defense (AC 4). Magnus' ring was a Ring of Human Influence. And Danger Sense is fine by me. I went ahead and granted you access to the forum, so let's continue this over on the Character Creation thread.

Ok cool. Yeah the ring of Human Influence would be nice (to counter his crap Cha  ) Haaque took the bracers in-story so i'll leave it at that. And with Masterwork Banded or Splint + shield available, it's really not the best he could do anyway.
Just realized Danger Sense from the Comp Humanoid is 2 slots :/ bummer. i'll find something else.
Ok, i'll jump over to the other thread so i'm not filling up your recruitment thread

That was Forgotten Realms. Dragonborn don't exist in Dragonlance, but Draconians do, which are fairly similar. Probably the closest you could get to recreating Balasar would be a Lightning Draconian.
Most draconians were made by corrupting good dragon eggs. When the Dragonarmies started to lose the war, they began experimenting with corrupting evil dragon eggs, hoping to bolster their thinning ranks. However, the draconians created this way wound up being Good instead of Evil. They're known as Noble Draconians, and are super rare, but not unheard of.

Hmm yeah and I was playing 5e with Balasar...nah I won't make a Draconian good or otherwise sounds like it would be a rough fit and a very hard role to play since the good kind are so rare. I do have a gnome thief that I could revive though I know most all gnomes in DL are inventors and have a "life quest" plenty of uber fast talking gnomes have come up over time in the novels i have read.
At any rate I am lurking and would not mind joining to help the group.
