On the way to their rooms, Malavar whispers to Drezden: "I don't know what possessed you to compliment Peddywinkle's hat, but you should know that it was the only item on any of the three of them that radiated magic. So it is indeed a fine hat. I'd be very interested in finding out what it does."

Drezden not one to always enjoy a bath adds "Some good rest and a bath perhaps. Aye Taska I agree I could use both, one maybe with some scotch."

The party gets some food and drink, baths, and then retire to their rooms for the night. Dallion keeps the book with him for safety.
The following morning, the group meets back up in the common room. They are joined by an elven woman with blonde hair and green robes. "Good morning to you," she says. "You are the ones Peddywinkle told me about, yes? I am Arlia." She glances around to make sure nobody is listening in, before continuing in a lower tone, "Of those who harp. I understand you have something for me."

"And a good morning to you, Mistress Arlia," Malavar replies, his face betraying some surprise. "Peddywinkle wasn't joking when he said you had the means to get here quickly!"
"We do indeed have an item which both we and Peddywinkle wish to see destroyed, or failing that kept in very safe hands. But I do not think this is the right place for us to hand it over. We should retire to Dallion's room and we can transfer the item into your care there. Perhaps Master Peddywinkle would like to join us as well?" Malavar suggests.
"Before we go, though, I hope you have something to show us as well? Something to prove you are a member of those who harp?"
OOC: If Arlia produces a Harper pin and agrees to go to Dallion's room, Malavar will fall behind a bit and cast detect magic before they get to the room. He will then use it on Arlia to see what magic she's carrying.
Re spells, Malavar is using the same spells as the day before.

"Magic can help one cross a distance of miles in a matter of moments," Arlia explains. "I admit, it's pretty useful, especially in my line of work."
"I spoke with Peddywinkle before coming to you," she says. "He's busy with some paperwork right now. But he's not necessary for this anyway. Very well, let's head up to the room."
"'Prove?'" the woman repeats, a bit amused. "Interesting. I didn't not ask you to prove who you were; Peddywinkle's word that you were good folk was good enough for me. But if you insist." She opens the flap of her coat, revealing a small pin on the interior that resembles a harp.
The party heads upstairs, with Malavar casting Detect Magic on the way. Arlia has multiple auras of magic coming off of her, including her wrists, the hairpin keeping her hair in place, and several vague auras around her body, suggesting she has at least a couple of different spells on her, possibly for protection.

"Yes, prove, Mistress Arlia. If I'm not satisfied you can be trusted, my companions and I will keep the book in question and see about getting it destroyed some other way. As a Harper, I'm sure you're aware that appearances can be deceiving, eh?" Malavar replies with some force.

*Dallion wakes and sits in his room staring at the book closed before him. His mind pondering what would drive anyone to choose that as a life. he frowns as the feeling that something is still wrong about the whole situation.*

Drezden wakes possibly earlier than the rest as he is used to living out in the forest in nature, heads to get breakfast if it's available and keeps a lookout for this harper friend of his employer. Seeing the elven women he lets the ones knowledgeable in magic do the talking for the most part. "Greetings to you Alia. Pleased to meet someone of your eh shall i call it stature?" he says semi awkwardly having only heard brief rumors about some secret group calling themselves harpers he wasn't sure what to expect perhaps a group of bards maybe?

"That's quite brave of you," Arlia says to Malavar. "But perhaps not very wise. Understand, I mean no offense, but do you really believe you and your team are qualified to hold on to such a dangerous item? If say, the Hosttower Mages were to come after you, I'm not sure the lot of you could stand up to even one of their more powerful archmagi. Again, understand, I do not mean this as a slight against you; simply stating fact. My organization has the means to keep this book safe from any evil that would seek to abuse it."
Once the group has entered Dallion's room, she says, "Now then...the book please? I need to first verify it's authenticity before anything else."

Accepting the book, Arlia looks it over, then casts a couple of spells on it. They have no visible effect, but they seem to verify something to her. Nodding to herself, she then turns her attention back to the party. "Alright, I'll return this to headquarters, and we'll decide what to do with it there. The Harpers thank you for your service."

"I am inclined to agree with Dallion here. The book contains knowledge that no one should possess and should be destroyed. Although I confess I'm surprised at how resistant to damage it's been - it isn't even a spellbook, just a journal. If you have the power to teleport or something similar, your knowledge of magic clearly exceeds ours, so I assumed it would be within your means to destroy it here and now. Could you explain what's protecting the book?"

"If the book can be destroyed, we will destroy it," Arlia says. "If not, we will make sure it disappears and is never found. And yes, my analysis shows there is some powerful magical protections on it. I'll need to examine it more closely at headquarters to find out what those enchantments exactly are and how to disable them, if it's even possible."
