"I don't know about Lillian here," Ladonna says. "But I did hear that there was a mage here that I would like to meet," Ladonna says. "And it is a pleasure to meet you, Commander."

Lillian thinks long and hard before asking, “This may seem a bit inconsequential, but...are there any musicians of particular renown? I’m a bard myself, and it might be helpful to learn of some different styles.”

"And you two are?" William asks, as neither of them introduced themselves. "Well, we have a few mages about the place, but the most 'important' would probably be Quill Sern. He's the chancellor, as well as the almoner, and probably the most powerful wizard in Hart; not that I'm much of a judge of such things. But I did once see him blow up an entire regiment of orcs with a massive ball of flame, so that's something."
He adds, "As for musicians...well, Miranda Foxmore has been known to put on quite a performance in the past. She is the castle steward. Both she and Sern are on the count's council, as well. You can probably find both over in the manor."

"My apologies," Ladonna says as she holds out her hand. "I'm Ser Ladonna Marche from Buho. We just arrived here as escorts to Lady Helen Escott," she explains. "All of this is new and perhaps a little overwhelming for us, so please forgive the lack of introduction. Besides Sern and Foxmore, who else is on the council?" she asks curiously.

"Ah, Lady Helen's escorts," Rolan says, stroking his beard. "I had heard she was expected to arrive today. Anyway, the council consists of the count, of course, Quill Sern the chancellor, Miranda Foxmore the steward, Ser Redna Kellerman the castellan, Eric Talbot the marshal, and Sadduce Fannah Winters the chaplain."

"Could you tell us a little bit about each of them?" Ladonna asks curiously. "If you don't mind, of course. I don't want to keep you from your duties or anything like that."

"Well, I can spare a couple of minutes of my time for two lovely ladies such as yourselves," Rolan offers. "Let's see...Count Solan is a good, honest man and one of the most skilled and disciplined warriors I know. Master Sern is quite old, and even in his youth he wasn't much on the battlefield, at least not on the physical side of things. His magic is quite potent, though. He's a kind, religious man and quite dedicated to his family. Mistress Foxmore is no warrior, but she's the hardest working person I've ever known. I daresay, would she ever take a day off--something quite unimaginable--the entire castle would fall apart. She is the mortar that holds this place together. Ser Kellerman...despite her colorful past...and rather hedonistic lifestyle in the present, is a formidable woman. If only she were a little more responsible during times of peace. But in an emergency, she is quite dependable. Master Talbot is a soldier, through and through. He is strict, disciplined and I've seen him take on an entire squad of recruits single-handed, despite his advanced age. And that leaves Sadduce Winters. Well...she is a priestess of Gonto, of course, so she is due respect. But...to be perfectly honest, I am always a bit wary of her. She seems to always be playing at politics. I dare say, that woman could talk you out of home and title before you even realize it. I'd stay on my toes around her."

"The priestess sounds quite fun to me, even though I am certainly no priestess,"Ladonna says with a smile. "Thank you, Commander, for taking the time to speak with us. Where, do you think, I would find Master Sern at this moment?"

“As for me, do you know where Miss Foxmore is?”

"Both are likely in the manor," Rolan answers. "Mistress Foxmore's office is on the first floor. Go through the main entrance, take the hall on the left, and it's the very last door at the end of the hall. Master Quill's office is on the second floor. Take the west entrance, into the chapel, and up the stairs. Go through the copying room, and it's the room directly across from it."

"Thank you," Ladonna says before turning to Lillian. "I'm going to introduce myself to their mage, and maybe meet a couple more people," she says. "Good luck with Foxmore."

Ladonna MarcheLadonna returns to the manor, but takes the west entrance this time. This brings her into the castle chapel, which is a large half-dome with stone walls. Its altar sits on a raised section of the floor, exactly in the center of the star-shaped inner bailey. Behind the altar is a large, two-story stained glass window, which depicts Gonto overlooking the world from the sky. There are enough pews here to seat at least 300 people, if not more, with a wide aisle that runs between them in the center of the room. It is not Rockday today (that's tomorrow), so the place is fairly empty right now. To the back are stairs, which Ladonna takes up to the second floor. She finds herself in a narrow hallway, and the first door leads into the copying room. This room has its walls filled with shelves of books and scrolls. There are also three writing tables with stools. A couple of acolytes are here, working at the tables. One of them stands to greet her, a young human woman. "Excuse me, mistress. Are you here to see Sadduce Winters?" she asks. LillianLillian returns to the manor entrance, and sure enough, to the left is a hallway. There are two doors on each side, and another door at the very end. This door has a name plate on it that reads "Foxmore" on it. Just before Lillian can knock, the door suddenly swings open and a woman comes barreling out, nearly colliding into the bard. Fortunately, she stops just short of actually hitting Lillian, and steps back in surprise. She is a slightly plump woman in her thirties, with a red-faced complexion. She has wavy red hair and is freckled. "Ah, excuse me, I wasn't expecting someone to be standing out here," she says.

"Ah, well, I think I might have taken a wrong turn somewhere," Ladonna admits. "But she was on my list of people to meet, so yes I am here to meet her."

“No, no, it’s all right,” Lillian insists. “Are you the steward, by any chance?”

Ladonna Marche The acolytes share a look of confusion. "I'll see if she's in," says one, and departs, heading through the other door.
Meanwhile, the remaining acolyte asks, "If you didn't come in here to see the Sadduce, who were you looking for?" she asks.
Lillian "I am. Miranda Foxmore, at your service," the red haired woman says. She looks Lillian up and down analytically. "Elven woman, but with Tardish accent. Dusty boots, so you just arrived from the road. Substandard clothing...but well armed; an adventurer. That means you must be, one of Lady Escott's three bodyguards Lillian, I believe? I took the liberty of researching all four of you. Nobody comes and goes from this castle without my noticing."
