Targor looks surprised at Balasar's words, then shakes his head. "I see...if that is the case, then my first order of business as king...is to avenge Grol." He draws his long sword. "Crush them to goo!" The other hobgoblins draw their weapons, as well. =============== (OOC: Sorry, you needed at least a 15 to make that work. Everyone roll initiative and state actions for Round 1.) (Map key: O = Orianna, I = Iroas, Z = Zoya, B = Balasar, f = Fosco, g = Gundren, T = Targor, H# = Other hobgoblins, w# = Wolves)

Orianna takes in a quick survey of her surroundings. There isn't really much of a place for her to go, so she moves away from the wall and backs up a bit so that the others can be on the front line, and then shoots an arrow at the first wolf. The wolves were going to be more of a problem.

Balasar looses an arrow at the nearest enemy, the wolf up front, but misses. The arrow sinks into the ground just before the wolf. The three hobgoblins in the back all ready their own bows and one fires at Balasar, but the shot is so wide it doesn't even hit the castle, but flies off into the forest. A prayer to Bahamut on her lips, Zoya draws her sword and shield and moves down the stairs, toward the enemy. Her blade once again lights up with flame and she strikes at the wolf Balasar just missed. It immediately ignites in flame and dies, completely smote. Furious, Targor calls to his troops, "Spare no one!" Then he attacks Zoya, getting a slight cut across her left cheek. The other hobgoblins fire arrows at the party. One arrow hits Orianna right in the shoulder, causing considerable pain as it punches through her armor and into her flesh. The other bounces off Iroas' shield. Iroas says a prayer of his own to Illmater, and a shimmering field of light appears around him, protecting him. He then moves in and strikes Targor with his mace. With a front-line now set up, the party is safe from the last wolf, but not from the archers. Orianna moves back a bit, but there is no cover in this area. She fires an arrow at the other wolf, but misses. Said wolf then moves up and strikes at Zoya, leaping at her and doing some damage, but the paladin manages to shove the lupine off her before it can knock her over or disrupt her spell. Fosco hurries down the stairs and playing a jaunty tune on his flute. Gundren steps outside just behind Balasar. "What in the blazes is going on out here?" he demands. =============== InitiativeBalasar: 18+1 = 19 Hobgoblin 04: 18+1 = 19 Zoya: 17+1 = 18 Wolf 01: 11+2 = 13 Hobgoblin 02: 11+1 = 12 Targor: 8+1 = 9 Hobgoblin 03: 8+1 = 9 Iroas: 5+2 = 7 Orianna: 4+2 = 6 Wolf 02: 4+2 = 6 Fosco: 1+4 = 5 Round 1!Balasar fires an arrow at Wolf 01 [AC 13] (1d20+3): 6+3 = 9, miss. Balasar fires another arrow, but misses. He is, however, able to dodge an arrow that comes at him, as well. Zoya and Iroas continue attacking Targor and the second wolf, but neither side can penetrate the defenses of the other. The other archers shoot at Fosco and Orianna. Fosco evades, but Orianna is hit and goes down. Fosco casts a spell of holding on Targor, but the hobgoblin stubbornly resists. =============== InitiativeBalasar: 18+1 = 19 Hobgoblin 04: 18+1 = 19 Zoya: 17+1 = 18 Hobgoblin 02: 11+1 = 12 Targor: 8+1 = 9 Hobgoblin 03: 8+1 = 9 Iroas: 5+2 = 7 Orianna: 4+2 = 6 Wolf 02: 4+2 = 6 Fosco: 1+4 = 5 Round 2!Balasar fires an arrow at Wolf 01 [AC 13] (1d20+3): 1+3 = 4, critical miss!Hobgoblin 04 fires an arrow at Balasar [AC 15] (1d20+3): 3+3 = 6, miss. qW3oV2cF1d20Zoya slashes her long sword at Wolf 02 [AC 13] (1d20+4): 6+4 = 10, miss. 1d20Hobgoblin 02 fires an arrow at Orianna [AC 13] (1d20+3): 10+3 = 13, hit for (1d8+1): 3+1 = 4 piercing damage. Balasar moves down the stairs and fires at the hobgoblin that took down Orianna. He hits her, wounding her greatly, but in doing so he has left Gundren unprotected. The dwarf takes an arrow to the shoulder and falls to his knees, but luckily is not out just yet. Another archer hits Balasar in the arm. Fosco gets another arrow in the leg. The halfling plays a quick tune and revives Orianna with the healing power of his music. Meanwhile, Targor takes down Iroas with one strike, shattering his shield of faith in the process. This leaves Zoya alone to keep the front line, and it's clear that the teamwork of the hobgoblins and wolf will soon overwhelm her at this rate. =============== InitiativeBalasar: 18+1 = 19 Hobgoblin 04: 18+1 = 19 Zoya: 17+1 = 18 Hobgoblin 02: 11+1 = 12 Targor: 8+1 = 9 Hobgoblin 03: 8+1 = 9 Iroas: 5+2 = 7 Orianna: 4+2 = 6 Wolf 02: 4+2 = 6 Fosco: 1+4 = 5 Round 3!Balasar moves 10 feet west and fires an arrow at Hobgoblin 02 [AC 16] (1d20+3): 18+3 = 21, hit for (1d8+1): 5+1 = 6 piercing damage.
