A week passes, and the party continues to adjust to their new lifestyle in the castle of Hart. For the most part, their duties have been pretty light. They have to help Helen bathe and dress each day, but that's really it. Helen stays pretty busy in her lessons with the count and countess.
The scroll with the Forget spell on it, ironically enough forgotten about, Ladonna begins studying under Sern despite having never bothered learn it. There's something strange about attending magic lessons without any stealth or subterfuge. At least twice now, during a lesson, a stranger walked into the room and Ladonna felt fear and panic grip her until she remembered that this was all legal and it didn't matter if someone saw them.
Lillian, meanwhile, has been visiting with Miranda Foxmore. So far not much has been covered--Foxmore has been trying to figure out exactly where Lillian is in her studies and where she wants to go with them before deciding on what kind of lessons to teach. However, Foxmore is so incredibly busy, all the time, they haven't had all that much time to cover much as of yet.
Ingot, Finbul and Liala have all been looking for work. Jonas has mostly been trying to recuperate and heal--he was grievously injured in the battle with the Wyld Boys and still has yet to fully recover. Although he's doing much better now, at least.
It is now Dymin 26th, 313; Lightday. Ladonna and Lillian are summoned to meet with the count in his Hall of Justice for some reason or another. The announcement comes out of the blue and catches them both off guard.
They are taken to a huge room that is two stories tall. A great chandelier lights the room at night, but as it is morning, sunlight filters through the tall, graceful windows on the west wall. It is here that Count Solan hears pleas and delivers justice. A large dais with a throne dominates most of the room. Tapestries on the walls depict famous lords and ladies of Castle Hart, dispensing justice. On the northern wall near the dais is a fireplace.
Currently, Count Solan sits on the throne. Several advisors stand on each side of the dais. Eowin, Ser Redna Kellerman, Eric Talbot, Sadduce Winters, Miranda Foxmore and Quill Sern. A row of six guards line either wall. Two heralds are stationed near the door.
The pair are ushered in and brought to the throne, where they are expected to bow. "Good morning," Solan says, looking down at them despite the fact he is sitting, as the throne is raised due to the dais. "I trust you have enjoyed your stay here at Hart so far. I told you when you arrived that this would not be a free ride. That a time may come where I will call on your services, as Heroes of Buho. Today is that day."
He leans back a bit. "The nearby forest, the Sunwoods, are part of my demesne. It is a valuable source of lumber, but also a good hunting spot. I have a warden who looks after it, a man named Sidhanar. Lately, he claims a group of poachers have begun squatting there. He is but one man, and cannot deal with them all alone. And all of my other men are currently occupied. I understand you are both experienced with traipsing through the woods. And your magic can give you an edge he lacks. Whatever you may need for this mission, I will offer if I can. Any questions?"
