No, when you say “Black Flag,” I think of the punk band. I guess it’s a sort of 5E GURPS?

Project Black Flag is Kobold Press' new game, which is based on 5E using the new Creative Commons.
They're basically doing what Paizo did with 3E when they made Pathfinder. Since WotC is moving on to 6E, KP is re-imagining 5E for those who don't want to switch over.

Don't know if anyone is interested, but Tales of the Valiant Kickstarter is up and they've already passed six times beyond their goal and they still have like a month left. I'm still keeping my options open. I know 6E is off the table completely. At this point, I'm considering the following: A.) Sticking with 5E (I played a dead edition for 28 years, so I know I can pull it off) B.) Switching to Tales of the Valiant C.) Switching to DaggerheartDon't know anything about Daggerheart yet, though, so I'll probably wait until that's actually out before making a decision.

Realisticly for me, in RPG just like with my boardgames- I can get new shiny things that I believe are the best- but without other players it will just help to carry some of the dust.
but in general, as long people can endure my slow brain, I am really happy to learn new stuff. (Unless they are overly complicated, like many of white wolf games- who have AMAZING theme, but in my exprience super clanky in gameplay)

So.. Goodberries? I am working on Al Qadim campain for the forum, and both for the adventure modules and also the setting as a whole, survival during journeys is part of the whole shtick.
From your exprience, does Goodberries break the survival.element? Should it be weakened or banned for this speicifc kind of gaming?-

If you're worried it will make survival too easy, you can always alter the spell to be more like it's 2E counterpart. Instead of creating the berries out of thin air, you have to cast it on pre-existing berries. That means in order for it to work, the party would have to find a source of berries first. Which could prove quite challenging in a mostly desert setting.

Haha, so if you haven't heard yet, WotC has backed away from the whole OneD&D thing and now are calling the new edition...Fifth Edition (2024). To distinguish it from Fifth Edition (2014). Fortunately, that's not confusing whatsoever.

They want their cake and to eat it, too. They want all of the benefits of an edition change (more books to sell, building up hype and discussion of the property, etc.) but are terrified of fracturing their audience again. When 4E was announced, it led to the rise of Paizo's Pathfinder and cost them a ton of money. That was why they tried to pull that OGL thing early this year, in an attempt to stop that from happening again. So I guess they figure if they refuse to call it 5.5E or even 6E, they can somehow avoid the problem.

I guess it the same envirment where they are doing live action for Moana. (Why? It's a great film, but so soon?)
It feels.. off-ish.

I think they noticed barely anyone cared about switching from 5e to D&D1, so now they are rebranding to be a continuation to 5e so they can milk this edition some more

Yep, what they fail to realize is that the vast majority of their audience now are newbies who started with 5e. That audience loves 5E specifically, so aren't interested in throwing away everything and starting over again with a new edition, as many of us veterans are just sort of used to by now. Plus, WotC has had some really bad press lately (the OGL thing, the Pinkertons thing), so people are far more willing to move on to other game systems anyway, where as before people might have stuck with them out of brand loyalty alone.
So WotC is, once again, blatantly lying to our faces, claiming this is not an edition change, that it's completely backwards compatible, that it will even still be called 5E now, etc.
