I mean, he's only level 3 and his deputies are only level 1; that's not likely to change in the next few minutes. Although I do find the idea that he and his men are running around in circles somewhere, getting into random encounters, hoping to grind out a few levels before getting here, pretty amusing. But anyway, if he and his men were more competent than that, I imagine they wouldn't have needed the PCs in the first place.
Mostly it's free; they rely heavily on donations. There are some exceptions, though. In the case of murder, the murderer is made to pay for the raising of their victims, for instance.
The Crimson Wolves aren't worried about being made to pay for the party's raisings, because they don't plan to be in the city much longer.

I was thinking more of the leader's earlier statement where he said he ordered his men to fight to the death because the church would raise them. Considering they would be known slavers and killers, I posited that he also meant that the Wolves would pay for any raising or that the church has some sort of scheme in place to make criminals pay through other means. From what Aguru has said, there's at least some form of prison system, so it seemed unlikely that raised Wolves would just be allowed to wander off again.

At this point so am I. I was trying to see if bringing up the slavers we defeated that bad mouthed the crimson wolves would matter any but guess not.

Jaeron sighs "Yup guess the bloody chain was wrong about the crimson wolves." Is Jaeron saying this loud enough for the slavers to hear?

Yep, I'm pretty much out of good ideas myself. If the door leads into more tunnels, then there's a chance we can follow and take the slavers out one by one. If it leads outside, then we'll be in a free-for-all. If we manage to engage the slavers and do some damage, we might also be able to encourage the slaves to fight for their freedom using the same line the slaver boss has been using. I.e. no one's actually risking anything because the church will raise At any rate, there's a bottleneck when the slavers take the prisoners through the door. There forces should be divided then, making it our best moment to strike. Daos - can you give us a description of the current disposition of the slavers? In any case, I'm not going to make the decision to fight by myself. If everyone else wants to make one last push to defeat the slavers I'd like an unambiguous "Aye!" from all of you here in the OOC thread.

Their disposition? They seem wary of the party and eager to get out of here.

I'm willing to take the risk and fight them.

Their disposition? They seem wary of the party and eager to get out of here. Disposition as in where are they in the room? How many are still at the stairs, where are the crossbowmen and the leader, etc.

Everyone is still in the same position as the last map I posted, with the following exceptions:
1.) The party is now clustered all together by the chest, pretending to count the gold in it. 2.) The five purple slavers (the ones that Imrich scared away earlier) are now rounding up the slaves in the pens and leading them out the door to the north.

I think we should fight. We are deputies after all. Rax has a good point about the door bottleneck. We can attack once half or more had exited. Then try to race those outside. Another option is to focus all attacks on the leader.

Bottleneck sounds like a wise choice. Though the leader concerns me as well perhaps there is a way to somehow do both?
Jaeron is merely delaying originally i was trying something a "kender" might do in one of the books i recently read.

OOC
Yes, guards 8 and 9. I don't really see how Senllip is going to be able to sneak past them though. They're literally blocking the way down the stairs. Imrich doesn't have the Jumping NWP, but he does have sky-high Str, which is the attribute used for Jumping. How hard would it be for him to jump down from the landing between the stairs, move, and attack the leader in one round?

======================= (OOC: Maybe if you make a distraction that the crossbowmen will face you, then Senllip can sneak behind 8 and run to attack the leader. Don't you have another Hold person? This can significantly balance the odds. And forget on the leader... what does forget do anyway?
