The party departs and takes the tunnel north of the cavern with the skeletons...which leads them right back into the barracks they just left from. So instead, they take the east tunnel and then head north. Before they reach the end of it, they find a side passage that leads to another room. The eastern wall of this chamber has collapsed into a mass of rubble. To the north, a door stands ajar, leading to a good-sized storeroom. Dusty kegs are tucked neatly against the walls, all of them cracked and split open from age. ================

"Ironically, this would have made a good place to rest," Iroas observes.
"Something to keep in mind for next time," Zoya adds. "In any case, shall we backtrack to the skeletons as Balasar suggests, or continue northward?"

The party heads northward, and the tunnel opens up into a new chamber. Steep, ten foot tall escarpments divide this large cavern into three sections--high ledges at either end, and a lower section in the middle. Carved stone stairs climb up to the ledges. Two large tables stand in the middle section, along with a pair of old braziers. A smaller table stands on the eastern ledge. The skeletal remains of dozens of dead warriors--dwarves, gnomes, orcs, and ogres-attest to the fierceness of the fighting that took place here long ago. There are three tunnels out of this room, aside from the one they used to arrive. Two to the north (one on the eastern section, one on the middle) and another to the south over on the western section. =================

Orianna decides to carefully walk up the middle tunnel going north. She keeps an eye open for moving undead.

Orianna sneaks forward, but by the time she reaches the northern table, she hears an odd, moist sound. She then realizes that in the shadows, there are seven ghouls surrounding a dead corpse, gorging themselves on its remains. The ghouls see the torchlight of Fosco and Balasar and stand up, turning toward them. They don't seem to notice Orianna, though, who is still in the darkness. The ghouls hiss and scream and prepare to rush the party. "Watch out!" Iroas warns, readying his holy icon. "They can paralyze!" (OOC: Initiative and actions for Round 1?)

The ghouls, hissing and growling, start rushing toward the party, moving down the stairs. Zoya moves forward and hurls a javelin at the closest one at the bottom of the stairs, but misses. She then readies her holy symbol. "We must wait for them to get closer. Iroas, be ready!" she calls. "Understood!" he calls back. He also moves forward and starts praying to Ilmater for aid. He, Fosco and Balasar feel a surge of divine power as Ilmater gives his blessing. Fosco fires an arrow at the nearest ghoul, and where Zoya missed, he scores a good hit. He then plays an inspiring ditty on his flute for Iroas. Orianna, hidden in the darkness, fires an arrow at the same ghoul, dropping it to its knees, before she ducks back behind the table again.
