He would observe the world around him and wonder. He found that he had an aptitude for the arcane and discovered that there were elemental energies locked inside everything. He studied furiously and mastered every aspect but could not grasp the inner workings of the element of water. Feeling that the secret must be elsewhere, Quan sought to learn from other societies and joined the crew of a trading vessel from Waterdeep that was visit in his homeland. He quickly learned the trade and how to navigate and the crew took to his hardworking ethic and brought him into the fold by the time they had reached Waterdeep. To celebrate, the crew took Quan to the local watering hole to 'teach him the secrets of fire-water.' They ended up getting Quan drunk and in so doing he mistakenly cast a boosted burning hands spell that nearly burned down the docks. As a result, Quon was conscripted into service to the watch to pay for his vandalism and he has vowed to never drink alcohol in any for again.

History: It is not that Dirk goes looking for trouble, but rather that trouble always has a habit of finding him. Ever since he was a youngster, Dirk romanticized about the heroes of whom he had heard tales. He noticed that none of the heroes were halflings, so he set out to do just that. He devoted his youth to training with his blade and to study to be like Khelben Blackstaff and the Harpers. As a result, Dirk resides in Waterdeep and hopes he can make a name for himself so that he can join the Moonstars.
Rogue of Waterdeep arc: In his pursuit of greatness, Dirk made an enemy of Dougal the Black - a Zentarum thief who was sent to Waterdeep to spy of Blackstaff and the Moonstars. Dougal considers himself a master of disguise and hates Dirk for identifying him as a Zent while Dirk was training with the rogues' guild. Dougal has since vowed to make Dirk pay

Appearance: Barlemus is a handsome, healthy young man with short straw-colored hair and cornflower blue eyes. He's large and muscular, wearing chain mail in battle and ordinary peasant attire in town. He is clean-shaved, with a square jaw that is rather undermined by his fairly goofy grin.
Personality: Barlemus is an innocent, naive young man. He is brave, but this bravery often stems from ignorance of danger. Having never received a formal education, he isn't the brightest guy in the world. He lacks common sense, is impatient, and is completely unable to save money. Barlemus has a good heart, though, and likes helping people. He seems to have an attraction toward red heads. Unfortunately, these women always seem to be bad luck for him. He has a strong sense of justice, and feels the need to help people whenever he can. He is very prejudice against Elves, as he feels somewhat intimidated by them.
History: Barlemus grew up in a small village on the Sword Coast. His father, Barmus, is a fisherman. His mother, Cilla and his 14 year old sister, Shay, are also fishers. Actually, most of the village consists of fishers. It's a terribly dull place, and doesn't smell so great, either.
Barlemus was never any good at fishing. He just didn't have the patience for it. He was a terrible disappointment to his family, as a result. So when a passing warrior named Ulster came to the village and asked Barl to be his apprentice, the young man was quite eager to sign on.
Once Barlemus learned the ropes of swordplay, he eventually split with his master and tried to make a life on his own as a kind of heroic knight errant. However, the best he ever managed was killing oversized rats in an inn's cellar. Thus, Barlemus has found himself drifting from town to town, finally finding himself in Waterdeep, looking for a chance to have a real adventure with heroics, damsel saving, glory and honor. When he learned of the Nightswatch, he figured it would be an excellent start to his career as a hero.
