Anyone know what they're going to play yet? I was thinking going with a Thief this time.

Planning to play a gnome Illusionist. Trying to decide if it is worth it to play a thief/illusionist. Your decision to play thief answers the question!

Thinking Half-Elf or Human Ranger...maybe Justifier or Stalker or Dwarf Fighter maybe a Axe for Hire or a Wandering Iron Smith. Margrave , several questions headed your way! 1) would you allow rangers to Two Weapon fight without penalty in Elven Chain? 2) are the four above kits allowed? 3) would the Stalker allowing a Ranger to use thief skills without penalty in AC 6 armor also allow him to fight with two weapons without penalty in said armor? 4) Justifier only allows the two NWP at level one, are you allowed to save the bonus NWP from intelligence til level two and beyond? 5) Should we as a party come to a general consensus on what level we are aiming for or is the module in question best suited for certain levels?

Great Questions - thanks for asking. 1) Looking at Elven Chain and seeing that it would weigh less than studded, I will rule yes on the TWF at no penalty. That just makes sense. 2) Justifier (LG human only as per kit), Stalker, and Axe for Hire are allowed. I do not have Demihumans of the Realms (plus it's FR), so no on the Wandering Iron Smith 3) No TWP would have the standard penalties - that would have been listed as such in the kit. But, as above #1 - Elven Chain would be the exception. 4) I feel his intelligence language bonus would allow for him to have more than Survival + 1 Warrior/General NWP. The way I read the rule is that the Justifier gives up two NWP to devote to his martial training. He does only get to specialize in the one weapon from these: Bow (any), crossbow (any), dagger, sling, spear, sword (any) 5) Up to you all - I will scale encounters as needed, but puppies will have a harder time keeping up with a pack of big dogs. I would expect the party to be successful at levels 3-5. In addition, I would not allow a first level character walking around with a hoard of magical gear. The above gets me wondering- I am thinking that those who choose to multi-class will devote their initial XP to both classes (to a max of 20,000xp) instead of splitting it in half or in thirds; that way the slow climb will keep party level sort of close initially. Nice big boy strength, by the way.

Can I improve the Justifier ability “Unarmed Combat Expertise” by putting a point of proficiency in Martial Arts?

Looks like we need a cleric. I am thinking half-elf.
MARGRAVE- Demihumans...do you want us to use Monster Mythology?
Edit...sent a private message to you, Margrave regarding a couple of Magic items.

Can I improve the Justifier ability “Unarmed Combat Expertise” by putting a point of proficiency in Martial Arts? The Justified Unarmed Combat Expertise is as written. 1d4 damage, roll of 20 may stun. The difference is Justifier improves from 1d2 to 1d4. You would need to train in Martial arts first to improve upon it. You may want to consider specializing in punching instead. A reminder, unless you are going up against a fellow unarmed opponent, an attack of opportunity will still apply on first attack. @justin Tyme...From the Ashes or Monster Mythology for Specialty Priests. I updated the character generation thread. Thanks Specific items question answered.

Sooo...Incase you guys didn’t pick it up yet. Going Justifier Ranger. Former Shield Lands Knight, has a hate for Orcs under Iuz.
Would the punching specialty improve his to hit and damage of the unarmed expertise?
What proficiency would be needed for my Ranger to be able to make traps designed to catch/kill/wound Orc sized targets? Set Snares says you must be a thief to do that, doesn’t seem a big stretch for a Ranger to do it.
Question about Magic Items/Gear. I got 6K to spend...the only items I have a general idea on on are his armor, Non-Magical Elven Chain 1000gp, and Eyes of Infravision 5,000 gp. Would those work?

Punching specialty would give +1 to hit and damage and an extra attack if empty handed. As long as you are performing wilderness based traps ( not the crossbow in the dungeon style ) like Rambo in First Blood, I could get behind Set Snares for a ranger. Unfortunately, there is no non-enchanted elven chain. +1 is 7500gp. The other item is fine. Cheap Infravision is the cat's eye marble for 2000; 1×day 60' Infravision for 8 hrs. Or you could wear the nightcap of visionary be ridiculed by friends and foes alike for 3000gp but you would have Infravision as long as you wore it. Leather +1 is 2000; studded +1 is 2500 if that helps

Where are you getting prices for magical items from? As far as I'm aware, 2E does not give a listing for the price of magical items anywhere.

Could I make that Leather +1 Halfling High Quality Armor? Complete fighter says to multiply base armor by 20...So 2,100 gp For a magical suit of Halfling Leather!
Could you look up the Camouflage Cloak please. I have the last three books of Encyclopedia magica, seem to have misplaced that first volume.
