After Narya relays this to the others, Daos says, "Well, we could try one of the halls then first? Make sure the area is clear before banging down any doors." "Good thinking, Daos. I'll lead the way.", Kevril says, as he turns and makes his way to the hallway to the right of the door. "We'll take this one first, unless anyone has objections?"

"No objections here," Daos answers, still quite tensed up.

Tristen nods, bow ready to support those in the fore. Sensing Daos' discomfort, he speaks quietly in a calm, steady voice. Anxiety does you no favors, and it will not change the outcome. Besides, he gives an almost imperceptable grin, You are in the back. If the rest of us die... then you can worry.

Walking towards the southern hallway you see the stairs entrance is near the start of the hallway but the entry to them is actually in the grand hall south wall that the opening to the stairs does only up. The hallway is littered a little with debris like the rest of the ruins. There are 3 doors in the hallway two to the east and one to the west. Walking into the hallway you can see it does the hall ends into a larger room. But with the dim light it is harder to see once you get into the first third of the hallway you can't see much at all with no light source. No heat is seen currently in the infravision of those with it. Do you continue down the hall or check any of the doors? Map: Updated

"Right...unless something attacks from behind," Daos remarks, nervously glancing over his shoulder. "Maybe we should check each door systematically, until we reach the room at the end?"

"Lad, whichever way you go in here, you'll always have your back turned to something. Right now, there could be something stalking us from the other corridor or the locked room. If we'd gone into the locked room, we might have been attacked by something coming from this or the other corridor. Nowhere is specifically safe until we search it and clear out any hostile presences. Just keep your eyes open and your wits about you and you'll be fine," Roshek answers quietly.
"I suggest we begin with the stairs and check if they're passable. If they're blocked, at least we know there aren't any hostiles that can come at us from up theres."

Daos pales as Roshek goes over the many ways he could die. "Is that supposed to make me feel better?" he mutters to himself.

Even with infravision the room ahead so far just looks like it is larger than the hallway and close to the same size as the grand hall you came from nobody is seen from the middle of the hallway to be in that larger room.

Roshek offers a brief prayer to Muamman Duathal then reaches forward and touches Kevril's shield. A luminous glow appears on the shield face and then slowly grows until it illuminates an 20 foot radius globe.
"There you go, young man. That should let you see as well as the rest of us for an hour. Shall we move forward before moss starts to grow on us?"

Daos blinks a bit as his eyes readjust to the sudden light and his vision shifts from the infrared back to the normal spectrum.

The spell illuminates the area better this is what everyone can currently see the room at the end is large and has some rubble piled up from the southeast tower or part of southeast wall when the place was sacked years ago. Other than a lot of debris and rubble it looks as if at one point in the past a fight happened in the room probably within the last couple of months signs of a fight or scuffle but no remains of any kind can be seen. "Thank you Roshek. I can't believe I didn't bring a lantern." He smiles, "I'll continue in the lead, if everyone is ok with that." Turning, he strides off into the room to get a better look at the rubble.

Closer look in the room you swear something in the rubble or the rubble itself is moving possibly. The movement actually reminds you of that time you saw a snake in the woodpile as a child.

"Well, that can't be good," Roshek mutters, bringing his shield and mace as he slowly advances into the room.
