Part 1: The Village of Hommlet

Daos remains in the rear, sling at the ready, and constantly looking over his shoulder to make sure nothing is sneaking up behind them.

Narya moves up drawing her bow but remains in the back of the group.

Kevril walks forward, his sword held in one hand but ready to parry or attack.  He uses his boot to move the debris around to see if something moves or makes a sound.

Everyone readies for a fight and not long of a wait a giant snake can be seen coming out of the debris pile. A huge adder, over 12 feet long, dwells here. It crawled up the rubble spilled into the moat, and found a nice safe lair where it could hole up after hunting. It issues a his at Kevril and coils as if ready to strike.

"Faugh!" Roshek spits at the sight of the snake. "At least it's not more frogs..."

He approaches the serpent, trusting that his dwarven constitution will protect him from its bite.

For the Crit with the Bow (Tristen) 7bD_CWiB1d100 = Normal Dmg x2 so damage already rolled doubled. 16 dmg for the first arrow hit.

For the Crit hit with Mace 1d100 = 2x dmg rolled chance it knocks down the opponent. So 2nd swing of the mace is 10 dmg + knock down. 

Narya notches an arrow but senses the battle is well under control by the others so holds her shot.

Roshek - attacks the giant snake hitting it twice the second swing harder than the first 15 dmg! knocking the snake down/out. 
Narya - holds her fire.

Roshek doesn't realize he has slain the snake and neither does Tristen as they both attack the thing again though both missing they notice the creature no longer moves.
