Rufus "Very well then the leader's quarters are up on the second level of the tower. I can bring you up to see the captain." he offers.

Daos sighs. He thought they were done for the day, but apparently not. He forces himself up to his feet to follow the others upstairs.

Tristen follows, continuing to watcn the locals closely. Being deemed welcome in a den didn't make it safe... whether of human or animal make

Rufus leads the group upstairs to the captain's quarters. "Captain Gage Rannulf these are some adventurers that helped round up the bandits causing trouble they found them and a bunch of gear in the moathouse ruins. They wanted to see if you had any interest in the weapons and armor they found."The captain of the badgers turns to the door as Rufus opens it and greets the party "Alright well then well met Captain Gage Rannulf at your service. Let's see what you have found and I'll see if it is anything we can use. Thank you Rufus, and please do come in." he indicates the group to enter and sit if they wish to. By the looks of him the captain looks as if he might have had a questionable past but for all you can guess by his appearance he is living a honest life now. Looking around the room you notice the chamber is sparsely furnished, with a score of arrows and five times as many crossbow bolts stored near the door. There is also a small coffer in the room behind the captain. The captain himself is wearing splint mail armor, a shield is propped up near the table he is standing near and you can see the longsword he has strapped to his belt along with a dagger. Rufus shows a sign of respect to the captain and nods as he heads off to his own quarters on the same level. "Now to business what do you have for me eh?" the captain asks you. "Straight to business, eh? Good man," Roshek comments. "We didn't bring all the the gear with us, of course, it's downstairs with our pack animals. I won't claim it's top quality, but both arms and armour seem serviceable enough. This here's the bandit leader's sword, for instance," he continues, showing Gage Rannulf the sword 'Knuckles' had been wielding.
"In total, the haul includes the following items: 5 suits of leather armour, 1 suit of studded leather, 1 suit of ring mail, 1 suit of chain mail, 2 medium shields, 3 light crossbows, 3 javelins, 2 short swords, 1 long sword, 1 mace, 1 halberd, 1 voulge, 1 hand axe, 1 spear, 1 flail, 1 club. Any of that sound interesting?" |

Daos takes the seat offered, and looks the captain up and down. He probably wouldn't make a good Master of Coin, but he seemed a competent enough captain of the guard, as far as the mage could tell.

Captain Gage Rannulf issues some hmms and then finally says "Sounds like weapons the men could use. The armor might be good for new initiates. Alright then so how much are you looking to get from this?"

Rannulf "Alright how about this? I am willing to offer you four hundred gold pieces for all of it based on the condition some of it is in, shall we call it battle tested some of it is in need of some repair and sharpening, a bit of oiling and all that. It's more than a fair price at least as fair as you probably will find in these parts."

Rannulf takes a strong grip and shakes sealing the deal. He then goes to the coffer in the room takes out a pouch and sets it on the table. It certainly sounds like it has plenty of coin in it. "If you wouldn't mind I can have a couple men go down and get the items."

Had Daos been drinking anything, he would have likely sprayed it across the table, he was so surprised by Rannulf's offer. Evidently, the Badgers were pretty desperate for new gear, even if only second-hand. But he wasn't going to question their unexpected windfall. Four hundred divided by the five of them was eighty each, and they haven't even sold off the more valuable of items they had picked up yet. Briefly, Daos wondered if he might be able to retire from this job alone, and started daydreaming about where he might go to buy a house and try to rebuild his life.
