The talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who's ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied.
When they finally succumb, they can't be raised—and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they’ve ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world. All we seem to know is those pledged to the service of The Aedra Arkay, and the Daedra Azura are the ones currently afflicted.
5E Elder Scrolls set one Blackmarsh!
1. What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)? 5E
2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (e.g. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)? An epic adventure set in the Blackmarsh of Tamriel.
3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many? 2-5
4. How fast or slow of a pacing do you want to set? Some games require that players post once a day, every three days, or once a week. Let’s try for once a day.
5. What is the characters' starting statuses(i.e. experience level)? Level 1. I would also like you to build a level 12 version of your character.
6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with? 250 Septims for level 1. 25,000 septims for level 12. This money ratio may shift slightly in play as I gain a better grasp of world economics.
7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes? Use classes and archetypes from the PDFs.
8. What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species? Races presented in PDF.
9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points?
Roll (3d4+6 ) 6 times, arrange to taste
Max HP at level one + Con bonus
10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so? No restrictions. Make sure you can work with others.
11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it? Multiclassing allowed and encouraged by the homebrew.
12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them? You all will roll for yourselves unless the situation deems a DM roll. I am rolling off screen for monsters/villains to preserve some secrecy.
13. Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules.
1. Death Saves rolled in secret between the player and DM. Only results of 20 will be announced to the Party.
2. Drink Potion as a bonus Action
3. Max damage + die roll for crits.
4. Individual Luck and Team Luck. I’ll award both depending on role play and roll play. Please spend it, normal rules for inspiration apply, plus the following.
5. Lucky Saving Throw: spend reaction and Luck to reroll a save
6. Let me Check my Pack: spend luck for have a useful item setting in your pack.
7. I Know a Guy: spend luck to know a guy or gal that might help with your current issue or quandary. Comes with a bit of Risk. Think Han and Lando.
8. Success at a price: Fail a check by three or less and you can choose to succeed with a penalty of some sort.
9. Gain a Tool or Language for each point of Int bonus.
10. Turn a hit into a crit for two levels of exhaustion
11. Gain a level of exhaustion if you failed a death save during a combat
12. Weather and disease are factors in this module. Be aware that common sense choices for jungle travel will keep you alive.
13. Use this link for items on level 12 builds. drive.google.com/file/d/0B8XAiXpOfz9cMWt1RTBicmpmUDg/view
14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)? Explain how you ended up in the Imperial Legion or Auxiliaries. What’s your opinion on the return of Dragons? Your most recent assignment was the pacification of Markarth. How did you view your time in the legion?
If you are part of the Aldmeri dominion, you fought beside the rebels. What brought you there?
15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above? It will be a mix of it all I suspect.
16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters? Focus on the PDF material. You can pull spells and feats from official and play test materials as well. Just run things by me.
