Hey Pro-boardians! I was wondering if any of the assorted sundry are into, or up for, an Old World of Darkness Game? I have myself a bit of a hankering for a game of Vampire the Masquerade. I know this is normally D&D town, but is anyone here up for a walk down Goth-Punk alley?
I have two stories I could get behind. One is a more 'typical' Vampire game set in a large, densely populated city. And there's a sudden power vacuum in the city, and everyone is scrambling to catch up, keep up, or get over. The second takes place in a much more sparsely populated city, and so has way fewer Vampiers, and so would have a lot more working through/with/around mortal characters.
My plan would be to set a single story with a definite end-point, so we can run the play and Do the Thing and then decide if we want to keep going or do something else.
My style of Vampire tends to be heavy on the moral and social conflicts and light on fighting. More reluctant-monsters than nocturnal-superheroes.
Thoughts? Anyone?
Bueller?

I'd be game...although I have to admit up front I have never played the game and don't really know anything at all about it, other than it involves vampires, so I'd be willing to step aside if I'd be taking a slot for someone more knowledgeable.
I think I have one of their video games on my GOG account...I haven't gotten around to trying it yet, though; I have such a massive backlog.

I've played VtM on and off since it was 1st published, and since my brother introduced me to the newest version, I've had a character running through my head that I would love to play. Since this is just an interest check, I can flesh out the concept more for you later and we can tweak it so it fits into whichever scenario you wish to run.
So, all being said, I'm definitely in if we pick up some more interest.

I'm interested. As a teenager going through my emo phase, I have a slightly unhealthy interest in vampires.

I am fan of any fluff that White Wolf produce. How ever, I only have played Exalted, and crunchwise it was a torture.
I do like the concept of storming the table with d10s, but it was quite rule heavy for my taste. But all I got to do is to enjoy to play vampires(though for me werewolves are superior) and you will hold our hands at the begining, so could be fun

What edition will this game be? I don't know much about VtM's system, so I figured I should do some research.

What edition will this game be? I don't know much about VtM's system, so I figured I should do some research. I was thinking V20. I like the new edition, but I haven't quite wrapped my head around it in the 'mechanics create story' sort of way I need to run a game using it. I could do up some rules-summary threads easily enough. The core mechanic of WoD is actually quote simple and elegant. Way easier to get into and navigate than any edition of D&D. The sticking point comes with the Clans and the Disciplines. You'd want to either hit a few wiki's or read a book to get those down. If I've got three or four interested parties, that's probably enough to get started on something. I could run a game of novice vampires, so we can lean into the fact that the players are new to things too.

I'm in. I have a lot of character concepts to choose from.
Most of them are stolen from a vampire manga, but since it's a vampire manga I made up, I hope that'll be all right.

As someone who was playing VtM during the 90's, all I can really say is, assuming our Storyteller is alright with it, I'd love to play a Lasombra Anti-Tribu whose Sire played allegiances with the Camarilla, and opposed the Sabbat's rise.
Any idea on which city you'd be setting the Chronicle?

Any idea on which city you'd be setting the Chronicle? I'm currently playing with two ideas. The first is Jacksonville, Florida. The key element of Jacksonville is that it's by far the largest city in the US, geographically but only 10th or 11th in population. So instead of the whole glass-and-steel-streets-choked-humanity Vampire tropes we'd be doing vacant lots, dive bars set back from the road, deep silent swamps, abandoned factories, crumbling mansions. Something a lot more like True Blood in feel. The other is a setting I invented a long time ago and is characterized by the prominent presence of the Catholic Church, extreme wealth disparity and social class divisions, rulership of the Gangrel, a (seemingly) near total lack of connection to the wider Kindred world, and a strangehold on the surrounding wilderness by Garou. In either case, I would be holding pretty fast to the 'canon' rule of 1 Kindred per 100,000 mortals. So Jacksonville has maybe 12 Kindred, and the other setting ("Little Providence") more like 9 or 10. So the three or four of you (plus presumably possibly your Sires), are a large percentage of all the Kindred there are in the city. Which is a very very sharp departure from the way I've seen most VtM Chronicles run (most VtM game, I find, everyone the PC's ever meet or talk to is a Vampire).

For my characters, I've narrowed it down to three concepts:
A Gangrel, recently escaped from a blood bond, hiding out far away from his ex-regnant.
A Toreador, a writer somewhat enamored with fictional vampires, now thrust into the real thing.
A Brujah, kind and naive, but sadly placed on the wrong side of morality.
Y'all's input on which you'd like to see is welcome, because I'm having a hard time choosing.
