"It isn't about the slaves, Senllip," Kalana says. "Please go get yourself cleaned up." She clearly doesn't want to talk about whatever she might be going through. Though she does look to the priest and say, "What if it is both?"

Senllip nods in understanding and asks the priest where he could find a bath. He then goes to the market to get new cloth and after that to clean himself. After a long warm bath his spirit is high again and he goes to the inn to get supper.

Archives of the Temple of Octhanus (Jaeron)"The one I'm working on right now?" the woman asks. "Well, I'm not finished yet with the new copy, but you are free to peruse the older one. Just be careful, it's a bit delicate. And if you do have specific questions, I can try to answer them. You're interested in the church's ability to bring back those who died before their time?" Jaeron nods his head slightly "Yes well sort of more or less why they decided to offer this to anyone and everyone that walks through the doors. I find it a rather odd situation though very optimistic that in doing this even a bad person would change their ways and try to repent per se for their sinly past."

Raising Room of the Temple of Octhanus (Kalana, Senllip) "To seek forgiveness, you must speak to whomever you wronged," Farfoot says. "It is up to them to decide what is required, and it's entirely possible they may ask for the impossible, or simply refuse to forgive no matter what. If that is the case, then you can do nothing but accept that. But if it is possible, you should show them that you have changed and work toward undoing whatever you did, if such a thing is even possible."
He continues, "To seek redemption, you must open your heart to Octhanus. You must perform good deeds with no reward, and show her that you can change your ways. Depending on what evil you have committed in the past, it may never be scrubbed out entirely. But you can hopefully tip the scale if you do enough good, even if it takes your entire life to do it."
Farfoot then gives directions to a bathhouse in town, as well as a tailor, for Senllip. The halfling heads for the tailor first. The place has numerous outfits, including those in his size, and also (for extra coin) offers custom made clothes, too. The shopkeep asks Senllip exactly what sort of outfit he would like.
(OOC: I believe Imrich agreed to take care of the party's expenses while in town, such as food, lodging, etc.)
Archives of the Temple of Octhanus (Jaeron) "Well, Octhanus teaches us that all life has value and is precious," the woman explains. "People are inherently good, but they sometimes are led astray. Nobody does evil for no reason. They act out of desperation or pain. For instance, a person may steal because they are poor and cannot afford what they need. A person may inflict pain and suffering on others, because they feel weak or insecure, and hope that these brutal acts will mask those feelings. Octhanus teaches us that when men do evil, it is a failure of the system, not the individual."
She goes on, "In many societies, when a person steals, they are thrown into a dungeon cell, or heavily fined, or in extreme cases, have one of their hands chopped off. This is viewed as a deterrent. It is meant to frighten people into not doing these crimes. But it doesn't stop thievery. Every single one of these societies still has thieves. We do not. Here in Serenity, we provide whatever our citizens need. If you cannot afford food, clothing, a home, they are given to you by the church. Thus, none of our people have need to steal, and so don't. We treat the disease, not just the symptoms.
"As for raising the dead, well, we don't raise literally everybody," she admits. "Only those who died from unnatural causes. And we take such good care of our people, that few die from anything that isn't natural."

Kalana takes in a deep breath then lets it out slowly as if trying to steel herself. "Thank you," she says to the priest with a bow of her head. She doesn't really know what he means by allowing Octhanus into her heart, and she has been trying to do good. She also knew that if she wanted forgiveness, then she was going to have to confront the people she hurt. She turns to leave, and since everything has gone their separate ways, she decides to pay a visit to the sage to get the information they paid for.

Jaeron breaks out his notebook and writing supplies and starts transcribing the information the gnome is giving him "Yes I do not disagree in most of what you say. Though I do not wish to upset any of the gods but perhaps it is not so simple that all are good. But I won't go into my thoughts on that. I try to keep out of such conversations as I hear it can tend to push people away. But yes you are correct such punishments or prices paid for crimes committed don't work or rather from what I have observed they don't work well. Yes certainly I understand the raising of goodly folk killed or that died in unnatural ways. Not charging is also very merciful. Vallant even. Though I would ask what if it is someone that is known to worship on of the evil gods? What then would this church still raise them if they were deceased of unnatural means? Has the church always done this or was it a practice that came to be later on in the cities history?"

Senllip browses through the cloth and tries to find something similar to what he had with few decorations along the cloth seams and the collar. He takes his time doing so, complimenting the tailor for his work and while at that he asks the tailor if he heard any interesting rumors about activities or personalities in Serenity.

The woman's eyes light up with sudden recognition. "Ohhh, yes, I remember you now. You were here with a group, yes? I'm afraid after you all disappeared for several days, I took that to mean you had checked out, and those rooms have since been rented. But not to worry, there are some other rooms that are currently empty. They're nicer than your old one, too. Are your companions returning, as well?" she asks. At his requests, she says, "I'll send for the local tailor right away. And we don't have baths here, but there is a nice bathhouse not far from here I can recommend. As for the drink, have a seat. I have just the thing." She moves to the bar, and pulling a bottle from the top shelf behind it, she pours him a shot. " Teufelstöter, from the homeland," she says. "Quite popular with adventurers." "Unless they all intend to board on our boat while it's repaired, I imagine they will," Imrich answers with a smile. "To the homeland," he toasts in Swadian before downing the shot in one go. "Aaaah! That hit the spot. I'll have another, if you please. In fact, why not just leave the bottle here."

Serenity University Library (Kalana) Kalana thanks and pays the priest the 200 gold fine from the party's pooled resources, before departing. With a lot on her mind, Kalana heads to the university library again, and finds the old dwarven woman there waiting for her. "Ah, you returned. Expected you back a few days ago, but not to worry. I wrote it all down." She moves over to her desk, puts on her specs and starts rustling around some papers, until she finds the scroll she is looking for.
Unfurling the scroll and adjusting her specs, she says, "Now then, you have four questions. They were: 'Can a feyr turn invisible? How do you fight a feyr? What does a feyr eat? Where does a feyr lair?' Here is what I managed to find out.
"Can a feyr turn invisible? According to my research, a normal feyr cannot. But there is a variation of the creature known as a Great Feyr that can. They are formed in places of massive trauma, when multiple lesser feyrs fuse together into a much stronger entity.
"How do you fight a feyr? Well, the simple answer is you fight it like you would anything else. Weapons and magic, I'd say. But you are probably more interested in its strengths and weaknesses. They are capable of manipulating people's emotions, into feeling fear, despair, and anger. The weaker ones are destroyed by sunlight, although the great ones are not. They have a high magical defense, especially the great ones.
"What does a feyr eat? Well, nothing, at least not the way we do. They have no digestive system. They have mouths, but these are used for biting victims, not eating. They subsist on the trauma of people. Fear, despair, and hate seem to give it strength. The higher concentration of those feelings, the stronger the feyr can grow. Feyrs sometimes amplify the fear so much to feed on it, they can even kill their victims--death by fright. Great Feyrs sometimes link themselves to a specific individual, and follow that person around invisibly, drawing strength from their pain and those around them.
"Where does a feyr lair? Well, they prefer to stay close to the trauma that first created them. So they are often found in places that are highly populated, but also under a great deal of stress. Cities under siege, towns divided by rivalries or civil wars, oppressed peoples, settlements baking under a merciless summer heat, and so forth. They usually only come out at night--the lessers because the sunlight will kill them, and the great ones out of preference. During the day, they usually retreat to some abandoned area such as an old house, cavern, or underground sewer. Somewhere away from the light.
Shrine Stitching Tailor (Senllip) The tailor shop Senllip is in, a quaint place called 'Shrine Stitching' has a variety of options for the halfling to choose from. Luckily, his magic cloak is still intact, even after the fireball. His hollowed boots, gloves and leather belt seem good, too, after a nice cleaning. That just leaves a shirt, coat, and breeches.
A new doublet will cost him 4 silver for a cotton one, 6 silver for linen, 12 silver for wool, 20 silver for velvet and 40 silver for silk. A nice coat with cuffs on the sleeves costs the same. Same with breeches.
The shopkeep, a male human, is also something of a gossip and dishes on all of the latest rumors with Senllip. This is mostly about people Senllip has never heard of, like nearby neighbors, fellow shopkeeps, and their families.
(OOC: You can take from the party pool, sure. Just keep in mind that 200 GP was just taken from the pool to pay for the fine, which is nearly a third of it.)
Archives of the Temple of Octhanus (Jaeron) The woman nods. "The church offers its services to anyone who asks, even if they worship other gods. Although, the followers of other gods do sometimes refuse our services. Sometimes because they prefer healing from their own deity, even if it costs. Or other reasons. But overall, most accept it, especially when the need is great. And yes, the Divine Trinity has always done this. But there are some sects on the mainland that are different. For instance, I hear that the Octhanian church in Swadia does charge people coin for their services."
Hearthglow Inn (Imrich) The woman nods and says, "I'll see that extra rooms are prepared them." She leaves the bottle for him, then goes to send one of her workers to fetch the tailor.
After a time, the tailor arrives. He is a human, and dressed quite impeccably himself. "I don't normally make house calls--or inn calls, in this case--but I hope you will make it worth the extra effort. Goodness! Where did you get those clothes? A fire sale? Actually, oddly enough, you are the second customer I've had today that looks that way. Anyway, I am here, and I have brought some samples," he says, placing a hefty bag on one of the empty tables. "What is it I can help you with?" he asks.

Senllip chooses between the linen and the wool according to the weather. He then compliments the tailor about the work and returns to the inn.

Jaeron continues to write this all down with interest "Ah very interesting. How long has this temple or church been here? Is there perhaps a book that has information on the founding of this temple and maybe something about how city was back then?"

Imrich smiles grimly at the tailor. "You might say that. A wizard burned me to death and my outfit with it. But LO! I am risen and in need of new togs. Nothing too fancy - odds are they're just going to get cut, stabbed and burnt again soon. But a couple of new tunics, pantaloons, a belt and two pairs of boots ought to do it," he answers the tailor.

Serenity University Library (Kalana) "Well, if you need any more information, just let me know," the dwarven woman says.
Shrine Stitching Tailor (Senllip) Senllip purchases his new outfit, and puts it on in the changing room. It's not quite as nice as his old silk clothes, but it's better than walking around in charred rags. After a bit more chatting with the shopkeep, he then pays and heads for the inn. Oddly enough, just before he leaves, someone comes in and requests the tailor go to the inn to outfit someone else. So once Senllip leaves, so does the tailor. They seem to go to the same direction, and he arrives shortly before Senllip does. When Senllip enters the common room, he finds Imrich at the bar, drinking shots from a bottle, still in his charred clothes. The tailor approaches him and starts speaking to him.
(OOC: Senllip takes 1 GP and 8 SP from the party pool to buy a linen doublet, coat and breeches. I assume he discards his old, burned clothes.)
Archives of the Temple of Octhanus (Jaeron) "Oh, certainly," the priestess answers. "The Divine Trinity dates back to the end of the Carnage War. It's said that Octhanus herself first appeared on this very island in the aftermath, offering hope and succor to those trying to survive. There is a complete history, dating back to that point." She moves over to the stacks and looks around, before finding the proper tome and pulling it. "Ah, here it is." She hands it to him. "You are free to copy from it, but I would ask that it not leave the building."
Hearthglow Inn (Imrich) "Goodness!" the tailor exclaims. "But ah, you must be one of those adventuring types. I suppose that sort of thing is just part and parcel of your everyday life, eh? Well, no matter. I believe among my samples I have some things that should fit your build. What are we thinking for material or color?"
