I certainly see Flynn and Alonzo becoming fast friends. Heck, a little work and we could certainly have backstories with us as siblings, cousins, or even friends growing up.

With the shitty array, is it just standard 27 point buy, min. 8 and max. 15? Just checking before I work the mechanics and background.

So bummed, as a Paladin with Charisma as my highest stat, any Charisma skill I am trained in, is only equal to the Bard's untrained check ... so what's the point of a social character? Uggh ... time to tweak my concept.
I suppose a Half Elf Folk Healer will have every Wisdom skill ... so I think I'll go with that.

If you want to play paladin, I'll certainly play something else. I didn't mean to take it away from you.

Nah, it's less class and more that I hate rolling stats because I rarely roll well, lol.

Brothers/relatives/friends would be hilarious. "Flynn" refuses to acknowledge it publicly because it would make him seem soft, and Alonzo thinks it's super dramatic and story appropriate so he refuses to spoil the secret?
And actually, I think we're all Cha-based (swashbuckler is a Cha-dependent archetype). Haha unlike a typical gruff ugly murderhobo party we're all very likable and presentable. This D&D party presented by central casting.

Two things: I can't post in the build forum, and how do hobgoblins fit in? I'm thinking about a Hobgob Wizard.

While it won't be important until 2nd level, does the Great Weapon Fighting Style benefit *only* apply to weapon damage, or to *any* damage die rolled with the weapon? For example, at 2nd level if I hit with a greatsword (2d6), and choose to Smite for an additional 2d8, if my Smite die comes up with a 1 or 2, can I reroll them?

Hobgoblins are native to the Scorcast Empire, a nation built for the marginalized "bandit" races some 500 years ago. It's not known for its magic like Arcadia, but it still has its fair share of wizards.

For example, at 2nd level if I hit with a greatsword (2d6), and choose to Smite for an additional 2d8, if my Smite die comes up with a 1 or 2, can I reroll them? In the Sage Advice book it covers this specifically as I recall. It only applies to weapon damage and not smite. When I get to OC I'll link it if you like. Edit: Found it here in the Sage Advice Compendium: "If you use Great Weapon Fighting with a feature like Divine Smite or a spell like hex, do you get to reroll any 1 or 2 you roll for the extra damage? The Great Weapon Fighting feature — which is shared by fighters and paladins — is meant to benefit only the damage roll of the weapon used with the feature. For example, if you use a greatsword with the feature, you can reroll any 1 or 2 you roll on the weapon’s 2d6. If you’re a paladin and use Divine Smite with the greatsword, Great Weapon Fighting doesn’t let you reroll a 1 or 2 that you roll for the damage of Divine Smite."

Any information on Elshodi, and the Nation which reveres them?
As a folk hero, I am taking the triggering event that Aeryn was approached by some celestial, revealing his divine favor. Mechanically I am using the half elf racial mechanics, to differentiate himself above most humans, with the extended life span and such, but still appearing as strictly human if that works for you.
Just curious about the nation, and human civilization so I can start coming up with his background and such.
