"Certainly. Your comrades are welcome to come in, since I presume it isn't just the two of you. On that note, the next time you pretend to be a merchant," he tells Flynn. "Get someone else to hold your weapon." He glares at Ragdoll and the other guard before turning back to Aerendyl.
"Menlo came across one of my patrols offering to be a man on the inside. I thought he had some grievance with Chesham, but from the suspiciously low amount of loot from our first haul, he just wanted to cover up his embezzlement."

With some reluctance, Daos joins the others in meeting with the bandits. He is curious to hear what this man has to say.

Aerendyl vaer Tharandiir, Paladin of BahamutHP: 9 of 12 | AC: 15 | Perception: 12 | Insight: 12 | Inspiration: 0 Conditions: None.Aerendyl sighed, "While what you say rings true, Chesam would require significant evidence to support such claims. Do you have proof of the Judge's duplicity?" He had no means to compel the truth from either of these men, and yet, if they could prove that the Judge was embezzling from the town, then Chesam would be forced to believe Draft's version of events.

Draft laughs darkly. "Trust me, I don't want anything to do with the Mayor. He's the reason I was forced to take up banditry, after all." He beckons the party into the cavern. "Come. I'll set up a table."
The cave is rocky, dry, and filled with crates and boxes. Draft places a large one labelled "Rope 4 tying up people" between two smaller ones: "Loot #3" and "Loot #4." Loots #1 and #2 are nowhere to be seen. Draft takes out a bottle of wine and some glasses from "Party time juice" and places them on "Rope 4 tying up people." He sits down on Loot #3, pours himself a glass, and says, "So, what do you wanna know?"

Aerendyl vaer Tharandiir, Paladin of BahamutHP: 9 of 12 | AC: 15 | Perception: 12 | Insight: 12 | Inspiration: 0 Conditions: None.Aereyn took the seat and the offered wine, raising the glass as if to make a toast. "Let us hope that truth and honesty prevail over pride and ego. That this day shall end without violence or bloodshed."He took his seat, and drank of the wine. Placing the cup down before him, he began, "The Mayor seems to wish you captured, imprisoned ten years for every hundred gold you've thieved from his coffers. A year's sentence for 10 gold seems ...," a pause, "harsh. Tell me, why did you turn to banditry to begin with, and what is your end game?"

Draft sighs and shakes his head. "Well, I was a member of Ren's guard some 10 years ago, protecting it from bandits and wild animals. Then I got injured-was barely able to walk for a year. They discharged me, of course. Which was fair. What wasn't fair was refusing to take me back when I healed and quashing every attempt at business with an avalanche of taxes and regulations. So, I turned to banditry. A bit petty perhaps, but I won't shy from the truth." He takes a sip of wine. "I never really thought about an 'endgame.' Just wanted to get by, I suppose. But now that you mention it, it might be nice to buy some property in Deppsburg, set up a nice tavern. You'd like that, wouldn't you, boys?"
"Oh, yeah!" Ragdoll says. "I know how to make omelets!" "No, you don't," the other guard says. The other 5 bandits all murmur in agreement.

"You were injured in the line of duty, protecting the town and the people in it, and to show their gratitude, they discharged you? So you were out of work for a whole year while you were recuperating? No wonder this town has banditry problems. You should have been compensated while you were healing, in addition to being allowed to rejoin once you were able to again."

Qurrak nod. 'It does sound like a great dishonor. My kind, would have swore bloody vengance, if anything, you are too kind to your enemies.'

Draft nods solemnly. "If you don't have anything more to ask me, feel free to stand in the corner and discuss. Just know that if you want to bring us back to Ren, you're gonna have to fight us for it."

"Without proof, it's just our world against Menlo's," Daos points out. "Why would anyone believe a group of strangers who just arrived in town to the town's judge? And our only evidence is that a notorious bandit told us about it. Nobody is going to believe that."

He paused, judging the man's intention, "However, I want to believe you, to believe that a man wronged can give up the life of a bandit, and resume a life of service to his community, and to it's leadership. Is there anything you can give us that would help us find evidence of Menlo's treachery, that we could present Chesham in an attempt to clear your name?"{Out of Character Actions}OOC: Going to make an Insight check to determine the man;s honesty, rolling 1d20+2= 18;MYJsb9Pj1d20+2. 1d20+2
