Unakite brings her puppet show to a close by viciously impaling one of the puppets with a dagger, then ripping its head off. She then slowly turns toward Lillian. "Why wouldn't you believe it?" she asks.

"Interesting puppet show," Ladonna says. She hides the fact that she is disturbed.

It takes Lillian a moment to realize what she's talking about. "Well, it's not true. These are the first words we've spoken to each other. If you walked up to me and said 'Lillian, we've met,' that would be a lie."

Unakite tilts her head slowly. "True? Lie? Words are words. Do the moons lie or tell the truth? Does the wind?" she asks.

"The moon and wind are as they are. They tell no truth, and no lies. They are." Lillian is enjoying this sort of...philosophical tennis match.

"Precisely," Unakite agrees. "Truth...lie...justice...right and wrong...all mortal constructs that do not exist without mortals to prop them up. All turns to ash. But the moons and the wind will be here long after us all, and they won't remember."

"Constructs they may be, but their vanity does not lessen their worth-without 'right' or 'wrong,' we'd be no more than animals," Lillian says. "Each person holds their own values, their own principles. These principles will not outlive the moon and wind, but they will stay alive as long as the mortals who practice them do. Which, for mortals, is a very long time."

Unakite gives a creepy sounding titter. "Are we really any better than animals? We dress up in clothes and put ribbons in our hair, but we kill each other all the same."

Ladonna looks between the two of them and slowly shakes her head. "Uh, well, ai think I will leave you two to talk. I need to find my father anyway," Ladonna says. "Lillian, when you want to meet some of the other people, come find me and let me know."

"Ah, but animals will kill for food, or occasionally, territory," Lillian metaphorically parries. "Us 'sentient beings' kill for such lofty, evanescent ideals such as 'patriotism,' 'jealousy,' and 'greed.' A foolish set of values, perhaps," she admits. "But are they not real? We cannot see them, or touch them, but much like the wind, but we perceive its effects on ourselves and others."

LadonnaSearching the fairgrounds, Ladonna eventually finds Jonas. It proves more difficult than she would have guessed, because he's changed so much in the past few months, she barely recognizes him anymore. With no job and nothing to do, he's spent his time just working out mostly. He's back in shape, on par with how he was in the previous timeline--or before his wife left him in this one. When he spots Ladonna, he waves her over. "Ah, good, you're here. We have a lot to talk about. But first things first. I'd like to introduce you to Ser Relken Tarn, Knight of Solanshire." Relken is a young man, in his mid-twenties, with brown hair, blue eyes and dark skin. He stands straight and walks tall, carrying himself with pride. He looks exactly as he did the first time Ladonna met him in the previous timeline, when he was engaged to Ladonna's sister--whom she wiped from existence by changing the past. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ser Marche," he says with a polite bow and a smile. LillianUnakite nods. "You have a fair point...we are worse than animals. We kill over made up ideals and values that exist only in our minds." She gives another creepy titter. "Worse than animals, we are no better than demons..."

"I must disagree with you there," Lillian says. "Demons, by nature, cannot change. They are the embodiment of everything society and the gods consider evil. Sentients have the capacity for change--beneficial or detrimental."

"You seem to know a great deal about demons," Unakite observes. "Are you a scholar of demonology?" she asks.

Ladonna has to admit that she is proud of her father, for cleaning up his act and getting back in shape. Now if only she can build up her prestige again so that her father can start woeking, without her help. "Ah, I had a feeling I was going to finally meet you today, Sir Tarn," Ladonna says with her trademark charming smile. "The pleasure is all mine."

Lillian grimaces. "The man who 'raised' me was. I picked up a not-insignificant amount of knowledge."
