Lillian approaches Ladonna and says, "I rather like her."

"Ah, good morning, Miss Lillian," Jonas says to her when she approaches.
In the distance, a bell is heard. "Hmm, sounds like the cooking contest is about to begin," Jonas remarks. "Which reminds me, have either of you eaten yet?"

"And yet I would want to be someone that could keep some of my attention," Ladonns says to her father before she looks to Lillian. "Really?" She asks in surprise. "And I know I haven't ate."

"Well, I'm all ears if you can find someone of appropriate status who is willing to marry a disgraced knight and has a personality you find more interesting," Jonas remarks to his daughter. "But otherwise, it's this guy or nobody."

Lillian nods. "We get along quite well," she says. To Jonas, she says "No, I haven't eaten yet."

"Great," Jonas says. "I heard that when the cooking contest is over, they give away all the leftovers to those in the audience. And since the cooks are all professionals, you can bet it'll be good stuff."

"Zesk is in the contest too," Ladonna says. "Are you coming with us?" She asks Lillian

"Of course," she replies.

Ladonna leads her father and Lillian towards where the cooking contest is being held. "You really haven't given me much of a chance to bring up my reputation, father," she finally says. "I get the feeling you don't have too much faith in me."

"It's been seven months, Ladonna," Jonas points out. "And from what I can tell, you don't even have a plan. You keep assuring me you're going to fix everything, somehow, someday, and up until now, I have put my faith in you, but you haven't done anything yet that I can tell. If you have a plan, then let me in on it, and I can help. Otherwise, I have no choice but to take matters into my own hands. If I leave it to you, I fear our family name will remain in the gutter forever."
The three head over to find the cooking contest is just beginning. There are several tables with white clothes where each contestant can work. On one side is the judge's table, and on the other are numerous chairs set up for an audience.
The contestants, with the exception of Zesk, are people neither Ladonna or Lillian know or have seen before. They include an older man wearing a white apron and chef's hat, a shaggy looking man with a beard, a large man with a square jaw, and a young woman in her teens.
Sitting at the judge's table are Countess Miriam Solan, Eric Talbot the Marshal, the very old man Ladonna always sees in the library (but she never learned his name), Lady Joy Solan and an older gentleman with a military haircut and mustache that neither Ladonna or Lillian have ever seen before.
As it just so happens, there are three empty seats all next to each other in the front row still.

Ladonna leads her small group to the three seats in the front row. At the moment, she decides to leave the conversation about her reputation go. On top of that, she doesn't want to let her father in on any of her plans because he would only disapprove in the long run.

As they sit down, Jonas says, "It really is a shame you never learned to cook. Look, both the countess and her daughter sit on the judge's table. Impressing the two of them would be a real boon. Just another consequence of your mother abandoning us when you were younger."

Ladonna lets out a sigh. "It wasn't all mother's fault," she says. "You need to take some responsibility in what she did," she points out. ~Just like I need to take responsibility for this whole mess,~ she thinks to herself. ~I always wanted some attention, but Felicia got it all. Now I have it all, and it is downright smothering. Did she feel that way? Probably not. She was the perfect one.~

If Lillian didn't know how to hold her tongue, she might say If you're not going to adopt a forward-thinking attitude, I'd like to point out that this whole debacle was because of your adultery. But she does. So she doesn't.

Jonas frowns. "I made a mistake, yes. I was young and stupid. But it's not like she was blameless herself. And she overreacted to the whole thing. It was one thing to be angry at me; but another to abandon you and disgrace our family name. I hope she wound up begging for scraps on a street corner somewhere."
As they speak, the seat to their right is filled by none other than Sadduce Fannah Winters, the high priestess of Hart. "Ser Marche, Mister Marche, Miss Lillian," she says as she sits down. "I've noticed your attendance at services has been...inconsistent of late."
