CH. 02 - Raider's Camp

"But yeah. I must admit, that we always arrogant with our powers and numbers. I might have been a high priest, but maybe I myself has encouraged such stupidity." He sigh, rubbing his horns

While the others stay behind, out of sight, Caelin and Chantilly decide to sneak forward to scout things out, coming up from one side of the other.

Chantilly giggled as Henry patted her head: "Thanks, we'll do our best!"
As she listened to what Eliana and Zakkoth were saying she nodded: "I agree with you, once you take something you're not willing to give back it's just best to run away as fast as you can, they had no reason to stay back... But it's best not to take any chances, our first encounter with them was dangerous enough." - she concluded, glancing at Henry's wounds.
She left her backpack to the group which was staying behind: "Best to travel lightly." - she said, before sprinting back to where Caelin was, snickering as she heard Zakkoth call Caelin "angry boy", it fit him well.

Caelin watched as Chantilly returned, nodding as she explained the group decision. Knowing where they were going, he once again donned the oversized dragon-wrought cloak.

"Let's move up the east path, it looks like it will take us above the crown of the canyon, where we could spot our would be ambushes." He moved low to the ground, his shield held close to his chest, his blade behind him, concealed by the shield and his torso.

He looked behind at Benyt, "If we're spotted don't give away Benyt's position.  Stall them until she catches up."

'After I'v seen and buried so many, it's such a bother to memorize the names... but I guess your name is worth remembering..... Eliana' he say the name with a struggle.
'Activating this weapon against the dragon... it's not something, one can forget.'

Caelin and Chantilly make their way around the area, slowly coming up from the right side.  Once they reach the outcropping, they start to climb their way up, trying to keep quiet.  Upon breaching the top, Caelin can see there is a group here, waiting in the rocks.  They include a Knight of the Lilly, two Knights of the Skull, and six black robed Baaz.

Unfortunately, before he can really process any of this, Chantilly accidentally kicks a loose rock free.  It clatters, rather loudly, down the hill.  The Baaz don't seem to notice, but the three knights react immediately, drawing their weapons and moving to investigate the area they are hiding in.

"While I think I can understand your sentiment about not learning names, you aren't apart of that organization anymore. Plus, getting closer to the rest of us might help with your new found power," Eliana says. "As for that weapon, I mean, I just fired it. I barely remembered seeing it fired before," she explains. "But now I kind of want to find that dragon again."

Caelin watched as the Knights began to ascend to the higher spot that he and Chantilly were observing from, he turned towards the smaller woman, "Tilly, run back towards Benyt, I'll try to distract them." He looked over his shoulder nervously, "Go." Once he watched Chantilly retreating, he drew further back into the shadows, and tried to remain unobserved as he slowly withdrew back towards the group, staying close enough to the knights that he could observe their search, and perhaps overhear their conversation.

{Out of Character Actions}OOC: Hopefully Chantilly takes a dash action and sprints the 100' back towards Benyt, I will move slower, and stealthier trying to observe our pursuers as long as I can stay on the lee side of their path. Still cloaked as a cultist, but rolling Stealth to, hopefully, remain unobserved, 1d20+8= ;QX9|JzTs1d20+8. No chance Chantilly moving noisily back towards Benyt would count as aiding my stealth check, eh? ... heh, I hate failing clutch rolls.

Zakoth ponder. 'Hmm... well. If I worship my own heart.... I guess what you say has merits. Maybe this why... my power is so weak compared to the time, I have served the queen with such passion... until she betrayed me. Left me...'
He toy with the broken symbol.
'I admit, I miss... believing in my cause. I miss having brothers and sisters in arms. Yes, I have homeland now... but they don't need me. Not really.'
pause while he walk by Eliana's side.
He laugh. 'Find the dragon again? You are either mad or truly brave. But what will you do next time?'

"Possibly both," Eliana comments on the stupid or brave comment. "But it is what the dragon said to me before I fired the weapon. It left me with more questions than I had previously," she admits. "Disturbing questions."

Zakkoth frown seriously.
"What did the dragon tell you? Dragons aren't usually willingly to chat with those who view as lesser beings."

Henry, javelin in his hand, gazes towards the direction where the scout have vanished in the shadows and outcroppings. He seems worried, clearly concerned of what could happen if they have to fight again the forces of Takhisis - luckily, the conversation between Eliana and Zakkoth provides a useful distraction against more pessimistic thoughts.

"...you know, Zakkoth. The last war brought so much suffering to so many people; if what we're doing right now will help prevent a new war, your people will thank you for it. I say they quite need you, but probably don't know that yet." the squire then nods to Eliana "And since we have a little time, I would appreciate if you could help me better understand what happened during the attack. A dragon actually spoke to you?"

Chantilly looked mortified as she turned to Caelin, she listend to him and nodded, whispering an ashemed: "Sorry..."
She dashed as fast as she can to alert Benyt, while trying to move as swifly and stealthily as she could.
